  1. they have , MK Dons relinquished their claim to it and passed to AFC Wimbledon. Wimbledon are the rightful owners of the Cup , as it is wimbledon fans who make up AFC Wimbledon and therefore the moral argument sides with them, the club IS the fans. They have done a superb job getting the club back to the league in under 10 years , hopefully they can get back to league one and rise above Franchise FC
  2. agree, all the hype will be about the European Championships and the Olympics but i'm not that bothered about either of them, will try to get along to a lot of cricket
  3. its because of the olympics, this was announced a while ago, and with out season finishing on 28th April (based on no play offs) it will be one of the longest summer breaks we've ever had! 16 weeks of no saints!!
  4. in those days fans invade the pitch last home game of the season, the players re-appeared in the upper west directors box and some of the fans throw bits if the pitch at them - not really in protest though from my memory
  5. anyone who travelled at their own expense to Charlton last season only for the game to be called off for a frozen pitch moments before kick off will tell you it is something worth thinking about.
  6. I love old flags, something you don't see enough of at saints, some good examples on a website somewhere of a Chelsea one of "where were we when we were sh*t" a mate of mine has a cracking union jack with Southampton FC across the middle had it over in Afghanistan with him , i've thought about getting one made up but cost puts me off, have a 12ft x 6ft st georges cross took to a couple of away games like Rochdale and Oldham last year
  7. New details now announced, same crap small allocation with 300 odd taken out of it for a "family area" so only 1700 proper tickets , go on sale predicatable wednesday 8th now the day after a home game.
  8. i wonder if they have under soil heating, could be a frozen pitch? http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2655603
  9. that is a very good price, i have watched quite a few of their Europa league games and they are a very good side, they gave Braga a hell of a game away from home and we will do very well to get a point there. I think they will go up automatically, but find it strange the arrest of their owner for money laundering hasn't effected the club that much, was hoping they would lose a lot more players. I am pleased they are still in the FA Cup with a tough game at Chelsea, we need them to have a couple of defeats to get them out if this winning run , hopefully the huge number of games they are having to play this season will catch up with them
  10. you'd be surprised, it was a broad spectrum from MCC blazer types, bearded geography teachers in sandals, but quite a few lads out for a laugh as well, group from Hull with a union jack with "the minority" across it getting on the beers, but India isn't a drinking trip in my opinion and if you just want that stick to the tourist resorts of west indies or cities of Oz. have a watch of this with your volume up full belt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPITrWL1e0A
  11. No, where saints go wrong is a lack of categorisation for matches, Birmingham have four, A, B, C and D, and price games accordingly depending on attraction of opposition and whether or not the game is midweek or not, it allows them to price less attractive matches competitively and it obvious marketing. Saints faff around with poorly advertised offers that confuse their own customers.
  12. that Final 10 was a absolute shocker of a "deal" i thought about it.....but then realised it wasn't a good offer at all for 10 games that included at least three midweek games (Leicester, Cardiff, Ipswich) and maybe also Derby if either of us progress in the FA Cup, so 4/10 midweek would put some off for a start. Then the fact that it was £225 + £5 compulsory admin fee, = £230 for the chapel. If I went along and bought my own ticket for each game any way it would also be £230!!!
  13. we do, in the chapel stand only, and judging by the crowd on monday i don't think it has been a roaring success. you can effectively get an adult ticket in the chapel for Leicester and Cardiff for a combined £38 plus booking fee. being mid-week games we tend to struggle to attract a crowd so could do better than that, allowing season ticket holders to buy an extra 2 tickets for £5 each would be a good idea i think.
  14. because it is a good marketing tool to bring more fans along to games, we had 11,000 empty seats on Monday night, a few iniaitives to fill the empty seats would be nice. Fulham offered season ticket holders to get additional seats for West Brom at home for £5 each for the game next week, and will have a big crowd thanks to that
  15. Nice one mate, think i'll have myself 2 tickets for £9.50 for the Brentford v Carlisle game on Monday 20th Feb , under a fiver each can't go wrong and i can walk from my house
  16. Tommy Widdrington, Neil Maddison, Francis Benali lets face it, maybe the current U18s aren't as good as they think they are and this will be a wake up call for them.
  17. they have done the same for spurs in the cup moving fans when they didn't have to which has upset some of their fans, watford season ticket holder at work said they would never move home fans for a "nice club like saints" as unlike west ham they wouldn't expect loads to make the effort to go in the home end, i can't see that many saints bothering in the home bit. the home support might be boosted by a few cardiff city, they'll all be coming up for the carling cup final taking place the next day quite a few stay / drink in watford for cup finals.
  18. it doesn't exactly bode well for our future in the champions league with a team full of academy players does it.
  19. The queue for tickets at 9.30 yesterday morning was quite long, dispite the heavy rain, and people seemed to be buying several each, i reckon we will sell out the 2900 odd easily, but might take a week or so.
  20. Any news on ticket sales for this? Leicester won't be bringing more than 5-600 with it being a sky monday night game, can see it only being about 22k.
  21. so if we re-pay them can we have our 10 points back?
  22. so in other words you were way out then weren't you, i'll only raise a glass and celebrate when they are out of business or felt a low that is worse than ours, bottom of league one on minus 10.
  23. Wow, that was quick to arrange that for next Wednesday! 2 days after Leicester home might not attract as big a crowd
  24. It is hard to say as different players often play in the youth cup who don’t play in other games, like last year Chamberlain played for us, however Forest are currently bottom of their division (group D) whereas Saints are 2nd in ours. Hopefully we put a strong side out and get through the the ¼ finals, would be good practice for the lads and a good chance for fans to get along to St Marys and see them play. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/youth.html
  25. you sound quite passionate about that, is it really that pathetic? got people looking at it hasn't it, and i can think of worse ways...
