  1. Confident predictions can come back to bite you quite quickly (ask my Brighton supporting workmate who laughed long and hard on the Monday following my ****sure Friday statement that we would cane them), but I have to say that given our form, our squad, our position, our financial clout, the standard of the opposition, and the number of games left we should and will make the playoffs this season. Once there we will have to overcome one of Leeds, Norwich, or Charlton and if we do we will be promoted.
  2. Hahaha seconded. Christ I miss that guy. I would say that his post indicates a certain amount of self reflection and maturing has gone on since he left us, judging by the absence of 'emoticons':D Why was he banned anyway, just to rescue him from self-inflicted ridicule or did he lose it and bite back unacceptably in a thread that I somehow missed? Thoughts?
  3. Seconded. Jaidi looks PAINFULLY slow. At times it was like watching last season's super defensive ineptitude (all of them, not just Jaidi), scrambling back and last ditch Lancashiretastic hurling of bodies after being undone by not particularly incisive passes (TBF their first goal was good). Also Antonio was totally extinguished when they put 2 on him. That makes life difficult for the best of players and is a mark of respect for the threat he offers but why were we not able to exploit the gaps that have to appear when a team deploys 2 defenders on 1 attacker? Oh well, that will teach me to start getting confident!
  4. It was Overmars although Limpar would have done as well. And another thing - Neil McCann was quite stunningly awful. Had all the skill and pace of a dead tortoise.
  5. Right. A few weeks ago the bloke was a tactical idiot without a clue how to change a game. He will be again next time we lose and his substitutions have no effect. Regardless, well happy again today. Calling all statos - when was the last time we recorded consecutive 3 - 1 victories with the same 3 scorers scoring in the same order and with the scorer of the third playing in his debut and then his second ever game for the club?
  6. After B Rovers defeat I finally cracked and uttered the unthinkable to a mate - "I really wish i didn't support this useless b of c's but I'm stuck with them". Honestly never said that or anything like it before but I was at my absolute wits end after 5 years of misery.Since then 3 wins on the bounce. I am clearly a motivational genius. COYRS!
  7. Jesus H I would have been shocked if I became one of the players on the pitch. How long did this out of body experience last and did Wotton take your place in the stands while it happened?
  8. I heard something kicked off inside and a window got damaged in the resultant fracas.
  9. A couple of my mates had their earlobes flicked from behind as they walked to the ground by persons unknown, though Police say they strongly suspect Charlton 'fans'.
  10. Don't know
  11. I initially thought it might be about Fanny Craddock, tv chef personality of yesteryear. Then I remembered she is dead and would have been useless at centreback even if alive and up for sale (though still, arguably, a better option than Lancashire) Sorry, a bit silly but I've had a few. On a serious note what happened to the kid Racine? I remember him being talked about on here at the start of last season like he was a decent option if our main CB's got injured (which they did, but he certainly didn't ever play).
  12. Cleaned up
  13. 3-2 at home early 80's. 2 nil down inside 10 minutes against Dalglish, McDermott, Kennedies, Johnstone etc, won 3-2 with goals including some sort of halfway line wonder lob from Nick Holmes (the decider if my hazy memory serves me correctly). Wallace took them apart as I recall.
  14. A rollercoaster ride of peaks and troughs with the peaks removed and replaced with deeper troughs.
  15. Sandwich Saint surely you don't carry data re the heights of former saints players in your head. Tell me you had to research that, please. A question for you - I met a Saints fan in my local in Faversham the day we lost 4-0 to Chelsea (approx 5 years ago) who was on his way home from the match and described for me how Crainie scored a peach of an own goal (bullet header from corner) on what I think was his debut. That man told me he came from Sandwich. I can't believe Sandwich contains many Southampton fans. Was that man you Sandwich Saint?
  16. Paul Hughes? Was at Chelsea, looked promising (and scored what I remember as being a quality goal for them) then got badly injured. Could be just my imagination but I'm sure I remember reading we had signed him after his 'recovery' but certainly don't remember him playing.
  17. Sadly Killer, the brilliant defender who was the bedrock of Strachan's 5star best saints team of the last 20 years is never coming back and was never realistically going to after his first comeback failed after a few games in our first season in the championship (last match that season the 3-4 against Leeds? please confirm statto). Players such as Michael Svensson, Marian Pahars, Ronnie Ekelund - brilliant players struck down at their peak by injuries that take more than 2 years to get over, never really get over them - and deserve our utmost sympathy and, particularly in Michael's case, respect for trying so damn hard to do so.
  18. Made me laugh that. Well done.
  19. 'I never wanted to leave, and simply could not wait to sign a new contract (once it became clear that nobody else wanted me, and I therfore had no other option)'
  20. All valid points DP. Too ****ed to contribute a credible response but I can't believe it was a plan to sign him then loan him to the first enquirer, especially one from the same division as us. Also why didn't SU sign him him for nothing 2 months ago when he was out of contract?
  21. Really cannot believe this one. Not in the least bit bothered about Dyer going away, never rated him. BUT WTF is going on with a club that (re)signs a player on a full time contract (thereby indicating they want him at the club) then loans him out to a team in the same division barely 2 months later? It's either bizarre management (chairmanship?) or our financial situation is deteriorating so rapidly that the modest plans that were deamed affordable at the start of the season are now unaffordable. Either way our club is a total and utter mess.
  22. That was Kenny G. Stevie G sang late 80's dance 'classic' "Dirty Cash" which mentioned at length how 'Money Talks' which, as we all know to our cost, is true and is the reason we cannot afford to buy massive stars like Anthony G.
  23. Regardless of possible release clauses etc this really is depressing. Oh wait a minute, If the sale is enforced by such a clause and we wouldn't have sold if the clause didn't exist then we'll no doubt be spending all the money on a replacement(s), so its not that bad after all. :-({|=
  24. Don't worry about it mate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
