What's the point of Chanrai taking the club over? As far as I can see, most of the parachute payments will be going straight into the pockets of the high earners at the club. The club will only be worth any money if the squad is strengthened, they get a promotion or two, and they are on a firm financial footing. This would surely require Chanrai to have to invest more money. I'm confused.

I thought it was common knowledge that Everton had a cap of about £45k. I can't see it being £75k and I've got a couple of scouse mates who don't think so either. Who knows.

Personally, I don't rate him. Butland is too young and quite expensive. If Craig Gordon is fit, I'd take him on a free.

He would be taking a risk though. A bad injury without the security of a decent contract would be disastrous for him. If we offer him a decent contract, I can't see him turning it down, in the hope that Everton (who quite rightly have a salary cap) sell enough players to buy him.
