I've just posted this on another thread, but I reckon Adkins could be toast. Just the impression I got from his bbc interview.

He has reportedly turned down Villa and Liverpool. Dream on.

Adkins interview on Match of the Day sounded like he was begging for his job. I reckon he's toast. On balance he deserves a bit more of a chance, but we have a ruthless Chief Exec.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like an exciting prospect. His goal scoring record suggests he knows how to finish. Anyone prepared to judge him on the strength of 20 minutes against United is quite frankly a simpleton.

Good point. Training with better players will improve him over time as well. He is probably learning loads off of Rickie. With our new signings, he's not going to get much of a look-in playing on the left. For the time being I reckon he'll be Rickie's sub and a starter in cup games. Personally, I won't be writing him off yet, give him a season.
