True to a point, although interestingly they'd rather adopt a different approach for their elite youngsters such as Delap, McAtee, and probably Palmer. Wonder why.
-
Thanks for posting that.

Strange thing for me was that despite his performances there Villa didn't want to keep him Thought that was quite telling.

Garth Crooks runs him pretty close I’d have thought

The ongoing Caleta-Carr transfer chronicle - Signs 4 Year Contract
Badger replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
Is it still happening though ? -
It's an interesting market that we've tapped into. We need to make full advantage of it whilst we can as I suspect at some point The FA, UEFA, whoever will look to regulate it to prevent clubs simply being 'nursery sides' for larger clubs and abuse of this system. How they regulate it is open to debate, possibly only one buy back clause contract in force with a particular club. This and the 'multi-club' model is bound to come under scrutiny at some point.
-
I was comparing as a transfer target and general observation as to standard rather than anything else. Bow to your greater knowledge of him though, and if he lives up to your billing then great, it will be a shrewd move.
-
Not keen on this tbh, strikes me as Arsenal's version of Harry Winks, average player whose reputation is based largely on playing for a big club where he's surplus to requirements, and linked with us every window. (Will probably be a reasonable signing then, if he doesn't sulk about where he's asked to play). Credit where it's due though his Mediterranean cookbook was quite good.
-
That's nor the yardstick to jusge a player by. Seem to recall Redmond scored against us for Norwich, which was enough to convince Les anyway.
-
Shame he's leaving and sorry to see him go. He's been a mainstay in our MF since arriving, and was possibly the width of a goalpost away from achieving immortal status, up there with Bobby Stokes, in the League Cup Final.
-
Also mentions Caleta-Car, and it’s widely commented elsewhere that we’re in for Bade.
-
And 6-2 in 1976, Channon ran them ragged that night in Division 2. Plus a 4-1 win under Sturrock (Claus’ first goal for us)
-
Or on who had relayed the news to him (without the expectation of last minute bids from elsewhere)
-
Agreed. It seems the story broke too soon (possibly leaked by PSV to crank up the bidding ?). Shame if it doesn’t come off, but if it doesn’t hope we have time to get Plan B in place in time.
-
What’s Dutch for shove your Yorkshire Puddings up your arse ?
-
Wouldn’t come as any surprise if he opts to stay in Netherlands and joins Ajax. They’ve got £80m burning a hole in their pockets and can offer CL football. This might not be just us, Leeds and the dugouts involved.
-
Difficult as it seems to be on a knife edge. But - to use a Merringtonism - what we don’t want to do now is leave it until about 8pm tomorrow to accept it’s not happening and no time to exercise plan B.
-
Reads to me as RVN is resigned to losing him. Whether that’s to us of course is another matter.
-
Have to evict Aribo from the No7 shirt for us surely ?
-
best not to continue that theme. On balance, Clasie was a bigger disappointment to us than Promes.
-
He's scored three ?
-
Suspect he'll sign an extension with PSV with the agreement to leave at the end of the season. Have read that the PSV manager is Ruud Van Nistlrooy, who mis no doubt telling him stay and Man Utd will come calling again in the summer.
-
Make the most of it then, once he signs for us he won't score again until March
-
Until he's told Leeds will up his wages, or the legacy and history of dugouts if Everton are interested...
-
Was a proper one, or piddly chip down the middle or a scuffed one ? If it wasn't a proper one then call it off.
