Agree with this, we seem to churn out a succession of ineffective shortarses who aren't physically up to it. Reed milked the plaudits for the succession of talent coming through, and we were likened to Ajax. But Ajax do it year after year, we unearth a gem a lot less frequently than that (MLT and his age group under Dave Merrington was exceptional (1987/8), after which.. Wayne Bridge (1998?).. Bale (2006?)... Shaw/Chambers/JWP (2013). Not a bad track record but there are gaps and more barren years in there to assume that SFC youth development is always the answer.

Didn't hear the interview, only read the reported comments. Did seem that he appeared a bit disaffected, and you wonder what 'promises' he's been sold on investment, 'jam tomorrow'' , and how long he'll put up with the false promises from an absent owner.

Many good points raised that go beyond the match thread. I've said the same regarding our 'end of season' form. Quite how they came back fit and fighting after a three month break, but not after another break for about half that time is a very poor reflection on all involved. Recruitment - yes, what happened to the Director ? You're left hoping its been put on ice pending investment and takeover but it's more likely just inept management (again). Signings - can't be may clubs who haven't strengthened. Even the likes of Palace investing beyond us, and ridicule all you like but Brighton's signing of Nivea does show a modicum of ambition (albeit misguided and not a signing I wanted for us, but the investment is being made). Salisu - pleased with it, but we await to see him. Don't think we've given the appearance of being a well run club since Koeman's first season, that was gradually undone by Reed and Wilson. What next ? I expect we'll sell Boufal to even further weaken our options then see our intended target (Rashica for example, or whoever) sign elsewhere.

Overbloated with dross though.

Don't have a decent rb never mind back up. KWP dosn't cut it for me. CB's are currently the same sub-standard options that they were for much of the season. Midfield is weaker than 12 months ago, and up front we're reliant solely on Ings. Won't mention GK's either.

How did we manage to keep the bastards fit over the lockdown period and then end up with them going to pot during a shorter break ? Defies belief.

Have to hope that the piss poor showings will lead to more £ being made avaialble, but doubt it.

Shame that one of his most memorable moments for us was his stupid dive against Leicester. In terms of complete stupidity and consequences involved it's probably second only to Prutton in our relegation season. Some way behind Prutton its' true but still a fuckwit performance.

Just the sort of build up ahead of a match ..... now watch us balls it up.

Sure it wasn't a slipped Alice band ?

Spurs fans will probably console themselves with the fact they recouped most of the outlay on PEH by flogging us KWP.
-
If anything they looked to need to regain match practice and fitness yesterday rather than needing a rest. But I expect some of the above will get a run out.

Hadn't heard of him until your post. No idea if he'd have been a good signing or not for Saints but liklihood is we'll never find out as if he's successful at Lille then he'll be a £25m + player when he leaves, unless he falls short of what they require and we pick him up for c £15m as we did Hoedt ! I saw he only joined them this season from Ajax. We really are missing out in our scouting and need to nab players before they end up in Germany, Italy, or even the better clubs in France. Once established there they're out of our price range.

This has been my worry, not just about Romeu but the team in general. The end of season is never really a good time in which to make a judgement often against opponents with nothing to play for especially last season, played out in bizarre circumstances. That said you'd have hoped the same levels of fitness might have been maintained in what was a short break, shorter than the March - restart. How they've come back looking jaded and not a patch on how they finished last season is disappointing. Added to which is the failure to add any players to improve the side.
-
Perhaps we've nominated Palace as the crap side to 'gift aid' points to this season. Will make a change from West Ham and Burnley.
-
Don't disagree but can't see us bringing three players in unfortunately.

Quite a signing, but not sure Mourinho has the interpersonal skills to make it work as Eva Carneiro will testify.

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m
Badger replied to The Odd Guy's topic in The Saints
Does he mean a share flotation ? Didn't we try that under Rupert the Share ? Look how that ended. -
Carillo MKII.
-
Providing we sell him before he reaches Neil Ruddock proportions that's fine.
-
Looks like Kelvin's in charge of cones and Dave Watson collecting balls this season.

And invite Boston United to complete the story and route.. -
Incredible that the buffoon who oversaw the signings holds a role as Technical Director or similar at the FA *, and his apprentice Ross is at Rangers. *remind me what FA stands for again ?
-
And then the player agree to sign on expiry of the loan rather than just use us a shop window for a season(The 'Toby' rule 2015).

Isn't he the third MF player theyve signed ? Allan and Doucoure before.
