As we did between 1949-73, many a lot worse than the current design of a single white hoop on them.
-
At the sort of cost mentioned you'd have hoped we'd have got something sorted, and IF we have gone cold on Disasi then hope its for something concrete and not the sort of rumoured dithering that Reed and Wilson were considered notorious for, leaving us with a third, fourth or fifth option... (who was our first choice all along type of bollocks ....) No idea which of the two is the better option, Salisu is left sided so that seems an advantage whereas the French would come without any issues over a work permit.

The club will also be doing a line in marmalade sandwiches, and duffle coats with the club logo on... UA have taken the piss most seasons with their shirt designs

What did we pay for him ?
-
Agreed, perfect. But you know it won't be anything tasteful like that, more likely we end up in a Pompey type kit (remember the 'radical blue flame effect' of the CHris Nicholl era).
-
As predicted. Away kit looks reasonably stylish, although largely 'undone' by the sponsors logo. Home kit .. less said the better .... (it's Middlesboro' Revisited at best). We really must have some Grade A muppets with poor taste in the commercial department.

Also, being able to see how may posts you have in a specific thread, and seeing how many posts had been made by different users in the thread. Could sometimes be a good indication of a thread to avoid if it were made of a majority of posts from A, B, C or one of their alter egos... But can easily live without it. All in all, thanks to those who set this up, and keep it running, an invaluable source of info to us exiles. So much better than waiting for the Evening Echo to drop through the door in the late 1960's/early 70's.

Wasn't Clyne already an England U21 international on joining us ? He'd certainly had a season or so under his belt with Palace before he arrived.
-
Two of my favourite full backs ever to play for Saints, plus Mark Dennis. Very few since have come close to matching them, Golac would certainly be my first choice RB in an all time Saints team since I've been going. That though is based on watching him at The Dell as I think he went 'missing' from time to time away from home.
-
Were we ever in for either of them, or were they just names from the mongboard sweepstake one summer ?
-
Twice I think.

Reading on here today and we've now got a team of world beaters. KWP has been a step up on Valery's showing this season but thats's as far as it goes for me. I'd have strong reservations about signing him permanently. As someone else referred to earlier he scuffed a few clearances including the one where City hit the post. Far from convinced, and whatever Levy thinks he's worth will be too much.
-
On age and injury you're probably right although I rate him higher than our current two choices, three if you include FF.

Tscheu La Ling is one that puzzles me from 1982. Had a trial scored twice in a friendly as a guest player but we didn't pursue it. Was a Dutch international at the time with Ajax and left there a few months later. Perhaps he didn't look the part in training, or possibly we were putting all our efforts in pursuing Trevor Francis but no idea why we didn't follow it up. Anyone shed any light on it ?
-
Francis was a possibility whilst we were top of the league in early 1982, and might have made the difference that season never mind 1983/4. Story I read some years later was that Lawrie had agreed a deal in principle with the City manager John Bond, with either Graham Baker or Steve Williams going to City as part of the deal. The City chairman at the time Peter Swales pulled the plug on it though in fear of a fans revolt. As good a player as Francis was I wonder how he'd have slotted with Channon , Keegan and co.

Disagree, like many Saints fans I like Bournemouth and was hoping they'd stay up. Good for the south if we have Saints, Bournemouth and yourselves if the top flight,. Although further away would like Plymouth to make it one day. Only one team I'm pleased to remain outside of the PL.
-
He was. And he might have coitnued to be, apart from the back injury from which he never recovered.
-
Not looking to score any goals then ?

Any of them have cardborad bells with them ?

Two obvious questions: Have they outbid Red Bull ? What has become of Dalian Wanda's keen interest ? -
I'd be surprised if they are if promoted. Agree with you that Adams still has something to offer and think he's worth persevering with.

City just warming up tonight .....

Don't forget the winger Piper , from Leicester I think. WGS pursued him but he chose Sunderland instead. Probably played less than half a season before injury ended his career. (Await someone to provide 'butterfly theory' that this doesn't mean he'd have had the same injury with us and could have become a world beater if he'd come to Saints).
-
Two ways of interpreting the original story about Augustin, and Leeds. Did we 'dodge a bullet' by: Not going for Augustin ? Not allowing Adams to go there on promise of Leeds signing him if they were promoted ? Possibly both.
