  1. bit of a contradiction, or at least a caveat to the fact it might not be "finished" (as in all games played), but at least "decided upon".
  2. Don't know the name you mention but there was certainly a breed of 'bovver girl' in the 1970's that I certainly haven't heard my sons talk of in their school years (thankfully). I was at school in Reading mid-70's and there was one girl who followed Reading home and away. Talking to a couple of the lads in the school football team who I thought pretty hard at the time and when her name was mentioned they said "christ, I wouldn't want to get into a scrap with her, seen her on the terraces...".
  3. Good, and moving to watch.
  4. I think Lets B Avenue reinforces my recollection.
  5. Might have been as well at one point but I'm specifically referring to East/Milton corner. I've stood on both at different times. West c Branfoot years/early 90's when it was vocal, esp lots of singing, jumping up and down etc. My recollection of the East predates that by some years, late 70's when those standing there were a bit, and some a lot older, many donkey jackets rather than designer wear. Blokes there would probably have seen the later lower West Stand antics as mere nippers fooling about. Big difference seemed to me that West Stand used to sing about 'kicking heads in' (as the songs went in those days), Lower East didn't sing about it but always looked ready for a punch up if anyone stepped out of line or away fans tried to make their way to the small bar from the Archers Road End (no real segregation at the time).
  6. Was this the Ease Stand/Milton Road corner ? I recall that being referred to as the 'Dockers enclosure' a few times. There used to be a good crowd in standing just in front of the bar in that area, language was more 'colourful' than anywhere else in the ground.
  7. Amazed I got into The Dell for that match. Lived in Reading at the time. Travelled down with a mate and his Dad, leaving about 3.45 after school. Not sure what time we got down there with the traffic but hellish queues outside. Got in, quite a crush.
  8. Used to hear this quite regularly in the old East Stand as well from a bloke. Nice old boy, but the games were often played to the sound of him yelling " forward Magilton...." or "not bloody sideways Magilton..." and as the game progressed " oh, Jesus Christ, NO !!" . In a particularly bad season JC was the most often mentioned name you'd hear from him.
  9. Since when did their club's season become the major consideration in how they conduct their antics ?
  10. Starting the season up again is probably the easy bit. Finishing it will prove far more problematic, if not impossible without a major fixture pile up. In the event of one or more clubs having a few players test postive, what happens, do they look to cram four or five fixtures into the last week or so ? At some point the PL might accept the inevitable and admit the season won't finish.
  11. This is the sort of signing our self proclaimed scouting network, recruitment team, and Black Box should have picked up before he left Vitesse. Problem over recent years though is that Saints (or at least Les and the Lesbians) were too busy giving interviews and self-indulging in believing their own hype. We are now linked with names from the Bundesliga that German clubs have brought in for nominal sums. They have 'out-Les'd' Les. Reed and Wilson, What a pair.
  12. Seems to be a required quality in our CB's over the last couple of seasons. Should fit in well.
  13. Unless identity of potential purchaser verified by earlobe scrutiny.
  14. Lovren..... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8284189/Liverpool-star-Dejan-Lovren-outed-coronavirus-conspiracy-theorist-sides-David-Icke.html Perhaps he'll presuade Liverpool to have a turquoise second strip next season.
  15. Milot Rashica of Bremen linked. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-southampton-transfer-battle-bremen- But also linked with Liverpool and Leipzig, so would have thought we'd likely be third choice, although he may of course see us as a stepping stone.
  16. The promotion/relegation issue opens up another mine field probably more difficult to resolve than any other. Don't disagree with you, but can't see it being adopted as it will be subject to a longwinded legal challenge.
  17. Whether there was any substance to the rumour or not I don't know, but it was certainly mooted around January in his second season (2016) following the cup exit. I think a midweek win after the cup defeat set us on a run and by the end of the season all looked rosy. Step forward Les Read.
  18. Has there been any link to him from a 'reliable' media source ? As for Adams I suspect Leeds might be a bit more ambitious in their target once promoted.
  19. Perhaps this should be on a Defector's Wives thread: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11548508/kevin-phillips-wife-arrested-attempted-murder/?utm_medium=browser_notifications&utm_source=pushly She certainly has some form doesn't she ?
  20. I read an interview where it was reported as 'being flattered to be linked with a Bovis development, but would continue to give 110% to producing this years wheat crop as always'.
  21. I heard 'Barry the Briefcase' is fronting their syndicate to buy the club.
  22. Article is prefaced with the introduction: With that sort of stat, you wonder why he hasn't been recruited back into the game, or perhaps he explains this in the interview.
  23. Although we'd be pleased to see Gao sell up, have to wonder if this would be a step forward or not. Anyone know anything about him/them ? If true, that is. SISU MkII.
  24. Straight out of the Ralphspeak. (Krueger that is).
  25. Previously linked with Newcastle. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11894584/newcastle-joseph-dagrosa-confirms-interest-in-buying-club-but-deal-looks-unlikely Although they don't come out of this article well: https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/17-astonishing-lies-claims-assumptions-gacp-sports-newcastle-united-takeover-brochure-637769
