Poential new name in the market, Castore. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8329053/The-Beahon-Brothers-plan-shake-old-order-Castore-announce-25m-deal-Rangers.html
  2. Wonder how many more issues like this before they go back to the drawing board. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52721397
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if Romeu is on his way in the summer as well.
  4. Looks a big lad,a bit of a proverbial "brick sh!thouse", who won't get shoved off the ball easy. Hence the Wanyama comparison. Will make a change from the shortarses we've churned out recently. But still only 18, so maybe a year or two away from the first team.
  5. Exactly. There was reported interest from Man Utd of course, although whether true or planted by his agent to up the ante on the contract negotiations we'll never know. It did however seem that his head had been turned by the rumours and success at Euros. After the window closed though he appeared shoddily treated, surely he deserved a run out in the Europa League having risen with the club from League One ? But, no. There were also reports of his conduct regarding Puel. In fact didn't Adam Blackmore and Dave Merrington even comment on this at one point from a warm up where he appeared to be laughing at Puel or ignoring him ? That wasn't the move of someone looking to remain at the club in my view. This is as I see it, although when faced with an issue Reed always seemed keen on the easy option and show it the door to go away rather than address it and negotiate a satisfactory conclusion. This was the same really as the Koeman situation. Twice in one year Reed seemed intent to 'standing his ground' no matter what the damage was or alternative available (Puel, and no CB. Although he didn't foresee VD's injury coming, still stupid and reckless to allow JF to leave without the replacement signed) Although much of the blame rests with the club, I don't think Fonte is entirely without blemish in this episode. Shame that his end at the club was tarnished in this way as he'd been a fantastic player in our rise up the leagues.
  6. I accept that, but similarly with the exception of PSG how may of the Ligue 1 teams Lille face are of EPL standard ? Point remains though that I think we'd have been better off with Fonte's influence over the last few years than we have been without it.
  7. But still possibly as good as if not better than some of those who've followed since, especially if you factor in his influence in terms of leadership and organisation at the back. We'll never know, but its possible that Stephens might have been a better player alongside someone with Fonte's experience than those he's been paired up with.
  8. yes, in the mentioned FA Cup tie taht we lost 2-1 after being a goal up.Foster proved himself to be an utter cvnt, and there was quite an exchange of loose coins with their gobby fans. But I'd agree that it's a cesspool, not a place I'd look to go to again.
  9. Have just realised Luton are in the Champioship, so can't see them going for a completley untried manager at that level if they remain there. Would have thought Luton might look for someone with a track record, such as Adkins, although that might see KD joining the coaching set up. That would be a step in the right direction.
  10. If KD has any serious aspirations to make a career in management then this is an opportunity he should take. Have always regarded Luton as a horrible club, remember the plastic pitch, ban on visiting fans, Steve Foster, kerb-crawler Pleat, the FA Cup defeat there in the late 80's. Would wish KD well if he went there though and possibly reform my viewing of their results.
  11. I read an article where someone said we knew of him and had watched him in Norway. Why we didn't take that further we'll never know. Obviously Les and Wilson had something better in focus to pursue.

Of course not. But I've yet to read anything confirming figures involved supporting the selection.
  13. If he goes to Spurs just hope we don't end up with some of their deadweights in exchange, Walker Peters for instance.
  14. Wonder if it factors in the liklihood of a 'Gerrard slipping on his arse' monent.
  15. Not as good as Romeu used to be. Not sure he has the fitness for 90 minutes at this level now. Whole DM needs upgrading.
  16. I suspect many are looking at this with the benefit of hindsight, on the back of which getting Cedric off the payroll looks a masterstroke although it might not have done had the season progressed with the injury to Walker-Peters, and a few more shaky displays from Valery.

The designer won't be within the club, but whoever selected it ... and whoever agreed the ridiculous sponsor/logo definitely!
  18. Don't think it was the wrong decision in January to keep either Adams or Vestergaard as we have a limited squad, in terms of both numbers and quality, although if given the choice I may have kept Yoshida ahead of Vestergaard. Adams I'd persevere with for another season, I think there is possibly a player in there whose confidence needs a boost, unless of course we have a) a decent offer, b) a decent replacement. On the topic of DoF, wonder how long before the recruitment role is filled.
  19. Yes, I realise yo're taking the p!ss. This was the Les Reed mantra when we were praised for our crop of young talent coming through in c 2013/14. Works well for Ajax, but they do it year after year, not once every 10 years or so. Could be said that he lead us down the garden path(way).
  20. Always sad to see a longstanding school, institution, or business fail and go this way. Note that Begbies Traynor are appointed. Perhaps Mark Fry will look to put his book of Southampton contacts to good use; wonder if Micky Fialka wants to buy a School ?
  21. We all know that ambition being voiced by most is playerspeak for ££££££

It's a complete unknown, and understandably. The only thing I've read, possibly on here, was someone speculating it might incorporate the sash as its the 135th year. Personally I can't see that as 135 years isn't such a landmark to commemorate, and I wouldn't expect the sash kit to be used again until 2035, which will be 150th anniversary. Hope I'm still breathing and around to see it. So, not in the know, but suspect: Red and white, possibly in unequal parts Probably a complete car crash of a shirt, and shoddily manufactured Sponsors* - probably continue to be Chinese graphics advertising some dodgy outfit which may or may not exist. I won't be buying it if it satisfies any of the above. *Unless I win the Euromillions and can sponsor the shirt with 'F^ck off Virus' on the front of it.

I hope there is some substance to your opening comment.
  24. This is the big gamble that all clubs face, especially at the lower end of the table where there is probably more at stake financially. No one can predict how any of the teams will be mentally prepared for the re-start and what lies ahead. Another concern is one or two players testing positive, what are the implications for that club, and squad then ? Defer their fixtures for a 14 day period, to resume later and cram additional fixtures into the last couple of weeks ? From a Saints perspective our squad have often shown to be mentally fragile, just hope we put a couple of wins together early on to ease the anxiety.
  25. Nicola Sturgeon who tries to say "Scotland", and "Scottish peepil " as often as she can in any interview. Matched only by her constant repetition of the phrase "right now".
