"Playing hardball" - there's a throwback to the days of Rupert. Only problem is that we simply don't hold the better cards in the case of Toby so we're not in a position to exercise any muscle or real influence.
-
Always the way though, same with Clyne. In the case of Clyne I hope we don't miss out on Trippier and Byram whilst Clyne and LVG dally about. For our central mf though, perhaps we should bang on and bring in Clasie, and/or the Senegalese bloke, Gueye (?), and if we're serious about Europa League etc next year we'll have a good pool to select from. (Keeping them all happy may not be so easy though).
-
Isn't Schweinsteiger an attacking MF though ? If so, I don't see that Man Utd would see Morgan as an alternative to him ? Although there may be other options for the role MS might be best at, Strootman perhaps, I doubt its Schweinsteiger.

People were saying it was a done deal with Arsenal the day he signed for us.... In truth though I think it was viewed that he was Arsenal bound if they wanted him, but it seems Wenger is looking elsewhere.
-
We were linked with Phillips whilst he was at Wycombe during Pardew's time with us, but nothing materialised. There was a story at one point that we'd made a derisory bid and Wycombe rejected this before selling him to Blackpool. Austin - again linked in L1 as we were pushing for promotion under Adkins. My recollection was that Swindon refused to sell to us as they saw us as a promotion rival, selling him to Burnley instead, NC bemoaning the fact we'd offered more money than others and he'd gone elsewhere. Others on here have said the bid was accepted and Austin turned us down to go to Burnley.

Austin & Trippier are the stand out options from the list. Phillips to a lesser degree, although like Fer, Caulker & Green is now associated with two relegations (three in Green's case I think).

Uncalled for sexist humour. Mods should try and nip this in the bud before it takes off.
-
having seen the post from NTA these would be better than Shalke or Dortmund of course if we wish to qualify...
-
Don't get to excited , it may not happen still, and even if it does then it could be a qualifier against Inverness, St Johnstone, or Bala Town.
-
If Clyne intended signing for us then he probably would have done so by now, Saints have publicly said he had a ten day deadline, which I think expired before the last match of the season, yet we are still 'hopeful' etc. Nothing wrong with that but realistically I think he has one foot out of the door, and will only sign for us if his dream move doesn't materialise.

I did read it somewhere a while ago, but it must have slipped my mind

Saints Pre-season tournament in Salzburg - 12th to 19th July 2015
Badger replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Are the shirt sponsors are 'Mengele' by any chance ? If so, its probably just the South American farm machinery company and pur coincidence. -
Any list that fails to include the likes of Charlie Adam is seriously flawed. Pelle's bookings include several for dissent etc which hardly makes him a 'dirty player'.
-
Not heard of the Brum bloke, but thought the strongest worded "rumour" was the Norwegian, Nyland. Federici would be first choice for much of next season if he joins us, as Forseter is likely to be out for a long spell, and that is likely to be the nearest thing to a guarenteed starting space he's likely to get, asssuming we don't sign another GK as well.
-
Might still be an attraction to players signing though.
-
Without belittling his contribution on the field, this is also a stand out episode from his time with us, as it summed up the team spirit that helped carry the team through that season.
-
or the fact they dented our title hopes at The Riverside.
-
If he was on our wishlist I suspect we'd move quickly knowing there was other interest in him. Just hope the Clyne issue is resolved swiftly. Toby's situation I suspect may drag through the summer, and its still out of our hands.
-
Hasn't Walker been injured most of the season ? Dier I thought was more a CB although has played RB, and Yedlin is an unknown quantity in the Premiership. I don't like spurs, but IF they go for Trippier then credit to them for stockpiling their squad with another Europa League distraction next season ahead.
-
Byram and Van Dyke it is then.
-
Some don't appear to have evolved too far from the stone age do they ? Perhaps the fat f6cker near the front is the role model for Eddie Yeates.* *for the benefit of younger readers he was a fat scouse waster and layabout in Coronation St in the 1970's.
-
Although I'm enjoying the fact Brendan is publicly being skewered, and the scousers are in usual self-pitying rage ahead of a full vigil outside of Anfield etc, lets be careful what we wish for in case of how it pans out. Imagine if they sack Rodgers, Klopp turns them down, and they are left to pick up the pieces to replace Rodgers as we know by now how they see Southampton as a recruiting ground. Koeman might be a big enough name to try and match their egos and club history to save face. Of course I hope RK honours his contract, but can anyone resist the lure of Anfield, with all those 'special European nights' ahead ?
-
I'd go along with St Charlie unfortunately. If Arsenal's interest drops off then I suspect spurs may be his preferred option if he wants to move to London, and he enjoyed playing for Poch. Personaly I hope we struck an agreement to sell him to a Champions League club, which might give Reid a justification in not selling to yids or even Liverpool who have appear to have publicly acknowledged another rebuilding job is required. May be surprised but I can't see CHelsea, or Man City coming in for him.

Interesting when speaking to the locals in France a couple of years ago, and they too expressed disatisfaction with the EU and how things are shaped. It seems to me that there is a lot of resentment throughout, but not harnassed in the same way as here seeking to walk out and slam the door behind us.
