  1. Does he offer any pace as well, or just Lallana-like nifty footwork ?
  2. I'm glad to see someone else making these comparisons. For all the big talk, NC was just frittering someone else's money and legacy. No wonder KL wanted to take an interest. We should be thankful she didn't just pull the plug, leaving the club to whither. Anyway, what happened to the theory of Mr Big coming back on a white charger, with a wagon train of Arab's money to buy the club.* * if not Arab money then Dalian Wanda's personal credit card.
  3. We have a lot to be grateful to the Liebherr family, and I hope they maintain their interest in the club for years. So no, I do not want KL to sell, but I am concerned about the 'advisers' and those around her. Whatever Reed has achieved on the sporting side over the last few years, he still comes across as a bit of a PR disaster , especially if working in parallel with Kruegar. John Williams might have given the board a bit more 'gravitas' and experience to handle things better. Difficult to conclude this, perhaps NC's demands of working in way he was unaccountable to the owners for his spending of their money was an unacceptable demand ? With a bit more humility on his part perhaps NC might still be at the helm.
  4. Did seem a bit of a gaffe didn't it ? Although not a fan of Rupert, I preferred his "we're not going to be pushed around by a bunch of North London Yobbo's". * *even if he did sell then Dean Richards about four months later.
  5. Interseting wishlist, although I suspect Blind is out of our grasp. For me its: GK : 1 (Marshall, or Forster ?) LB : 1 (Robertson or Tim Kolo ?) CB : 2 ? (De Vrij, Martins Indi, or Van Dyke, also paper report re Caulker) MF : 1 assuming no further transfers out but no idea who, other than Clasie although Tadic is rumoured on here, and a previous link to Grenier( might be good if Morgan stays) Strikers : 2 Pelle & Ings , unless RK can persuade one of the Dutch kids such as Depay.
  6. We're only two seasons into the Premiership to put some perspective on it. That said, having a manager who will take the cups seriously might make a significant difference.
  7. Expect the scouse wit will come up for a song about it if he does fail. Probably something by Gerry & The Pacemakers.
  8. BBC reporting £27m - hope that is not true.
  9. a sentiment shared by many. One good season, and he thinks he's definitely CL material. Who knows ? He might be, but on the other hand he may revert to the Lallana of the previous season, lots of fancy crap and no end product, that would be £25m well spent if he does !
  10. Please, no.
  11. Even though this has been predicted for a couple of months, there does seem an indecent haste about this, about a day after the humiliating return from a bit part in World Cup failure.
  12. I remember this, and also reading at that time that he seemed to be continually injured !! So, make that two LB's please.
  13. Agree with above. FB is less experienced than Dodd in a coaching capacity, so unless there was some 'misconduct' involved in the sacking, this is not an 'upgrade'. ..or find a George Prost MkII
  14. Pity. Perhaps Benali is going to be the new GK coach !
  15. Two 'imports' who have been brought into a stable dressing room of players, many of whom have a bond from our L1 days. Rip the heart out of that and it is easy for it to become a loose collection of individuals, with their ££ the main motivation, rather than a team.
  16. This is a concern of mine also.
  17. No, but just refuse to do any future business with THFC.
  18. All of which is true. But in the interest of balancing the debate: - we sold Shearer, and signed Dixon & Speedie -sold Bridge and never really replaced him, although did sign Neil McCann from some of the proceeds. Moral of the story (and the point you were making Lighthouse): This need not be a tragedy IF the proceeds are spent wisely.
  19. Would be good, and throw in Clasie to keep them company as well. So with him and Shaqiri presumably they have no need for Lallana then. Glad that's sorted.
  20. If so, he's been undersold in my view.
  21. Wonder if mancs signing Shaw will curb Van Gaal's interest in Blind ? Probably not, as they'll just stockpile players.
  22. Some prompt and impressive signings may be the first thing to persuade them some ambition remains. LB - who are the leading contenders ? Rodriguez (Wolfsburg) - unlikely Robertson ( Dundee Utd ) ? Timothee Kolo ? A.N Other ? I'm sure Koeman will be looking at DVD's of potential players (having smuggled the dvd player into his nunnery) as we type.
  23. Agree about Rodriguez from Wolfsburg, no matter what we offer his club he will be seeking CL football. That said, I'm sure we can improve the CB options, and possibly a decent replacement for RL up front (even if our style of play needs to be adapted).
  24. Didn't want Shaw to leave this early, but am resigned to it - just hope the fee is £30-£35m plus decent sell on clause, and that we make some decent signings from it.
  25. Precisely. We have had the time to obtain another supplier, but unable to secure a decent design. This barely makes sense. Sounds a balls up, whether this is due to NC or those who followed is another matter. But you have to wonder how you fall out with adidas in such a dramatic fashion.
