  1. Suited to a wing back role that RK briefly introduced then ?
  2. Not altogether dismissing the Phillips connection, as said above we've been monitoring him since Wycombe. Be interesting though if he lines up with Tadic, both highly rated in assists. Not sure we're short in the creativity stakes already. All we neeed though is someone to convert the chances.
  3. Quite a refreshing read, and with the exception of probably two posts, pretty objective and informed stuff. They obviously don't read our Forum though or they'd be aware its a fluke where we are in the table 'cos many of our players are considered sh!t.
  4. Agree, he'd arrive with a sulk and it'd probably go downhill from there, until we loan him out. Austin or INgs would be the preference, but it seems Ings might want to stay warming benches up north (according to one or two on here). Thought it was £4m , not cheap deal between two Championship clubs at the time.
  5. I think its poor that Messi uses the press in this way in order to sound out a move to Saints. I think we all get annoyed when the press advetise Clyne or Morgan's desire to play elswehere so same code applies to Messi. Anyway, sure many on here will agree he's overrated. Okay he scores a few goals - in an inferior league - but apart from that he probably does not play with the same energy and run around as much as Shame Long, and will cost four times as much.
  6. Or one from the Championship perhaps ? Byram for instance.
  7. Even though Saints are the best supported club in Poole, Bournemouth and the rest of Dorset, I see no reason for a goundshare going ahead and am perfectly happy with St Mary's, but nice of them to suggest it.
  8. Going down - From a Saints perspective I'd like to see QPR & Burnley go down if it increases our chances of signing Austin orTrippier. Apart from that my other real preference would be Villa. However I expect it to be QPR, Hull & Leicester (although they do have a decent run in). Coming up: Would like - Bournemouth, Norwich & for ease of travelling - Watford. Expect - Middlesborough, Norwich, & Derby via play offs.Sorry, but think AFCB may falter in play offs (hope I'm wrong on that).
  9. But of course you're allowed to hold extreme leftie views in your younger days and they're passed off as 'folly of youth', so 'Cuddly Ken', and Denis Healy can become almost national treasures without recrimination of their past. And lets not mention 'Red Ed's' marxist father and any influence it may have had.
  10. Unless there has been a major rift at Stanford Bridge hy would Mourinho consider loaning him out ?
  11. Wouldn't be a bad option.
  12. Does seem an awful long time ago now though...

  15. My recollection too. He had attracted some attention by his performances, and with Souness leaving I remember reading he too would want out with a fee of £4m being mentioned. A few days later though he said he wasn't coming back. C^nt.
  16. Thought it was a crazed and manic stare...frightening to think that someone who could pass as the 'badly drawn man' from Viz could be a PM. Sturgeon I thought put on a good performance,I don't agree with her on much but she does fight her corner well. In truth though she didn't have to do a lot other than be there and remind the others that she'll be a major irritant to them if as expected its a hung parliament. Whenever I see Nicola Sturgeon on the news though it worries me that I'm really watching Gordon Strachan in drag.
  17. Interesting discussion regarding the 'NHS tourism' and response from the Welsh bint and Nicola Sturgeon both claiming 'moral high ground' and trying to shame Farage's comments. Still at least its one problem sorted, any HIV positives from overseas needing treatment can be sent off to Glasgow, Edinburgh,or Aberystwyth for treatment. Wonder if Sturgeon will be so humanitarian in her outlook if this eats into Scotland's own funding of the NHS.
  18. What's that then, just being Welsh ?
  19. He's certainly up there, but best passer I've seen was Alan Ball. No matter how good a player he was, Berkovic was an arsehole though.

  21. Alex Smithies from Huddersfield was highly rated a couple of years ago.
  22. Kite was signed from Bristol Rovers. Going back to when I first started following Saints we had a highly rated home grown GK, Gerry Gurr. England U23 international as I recall. Injury buggered up his career though. No home grownGK's of note since then though, Steve Middleton c1975, the last one I recall havibg a run in the team.
  23. That would be the youth set up that he - 'Arry - was keen not to utiilise and aid the development of younger players* for a time (think Cranie, Mills and how they saw no future at the club when HR was in charge after relegation). Are there no limits to 'Arry's hypocrisy, and self trumpeting ? *although I think he has subsequently been happy to talk about his time and part in Walcott and Bales early years.
