  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24029055 Last bit of clip seeing him being chased off is straight out of Benny Hill.
  2. Thanks Jimmy_D much appreciated
  3. Lowe accepted Forecast as part of an early settlement in renegotiating the Bale deal that might have netted us a fortune (now estimated at £20m). This from the same Rupert who is said to have hired Nick Leeson at Barings Bank. Which is His Rupertship's finest moment ?
  4. Yes, remember that one, he would not have stayed on a rugby pitch after that assault on an opponent. And making it Saints related Benali on John Fashanu was better than the original one mentioned here.
  5. Not that bad, just a leg thrown out as a body check. Absolutely disgraceful tackle, made worse by the c^nts later revelation it was deliberate, deserving of a life ban in my view.
  6. How good an alternative is this to other security measures/firewalls etc such as McAfee or Norton ? Anyone able to advise here please ? Thanks
  7. Am looking for a printer £40-£60 bracket for son. I've always used Epson for the last 10 years. Chap in PC World was doing his best to persuade us to buy an HP , suggesting lower ink costs etc, although I always thought Epson with single colour cartridges were meant to be amongst better value out there. So, I throw this open to the TSW Techno's for any views experiences of HP in particular. Any suggestions ? This is for document printing etc, no major graphics ,photos etc.
  8. In the post relegation era, 1974-6 Fisher was a scapegoat for many, and certainly ranked as 'unappreciated' even if he wasn't unpopular. I distinctly recall groans being heard when his name was announced in the starting eleven. He was in an unenviable position really as he was seen one of the 'old guard' who had seen better days, possibly one of those who coming to the end of their career had been partly responsible for us being relegated, and with age not on his side, did not offer much chance of promotion again. I seem to remember our lowest ebb in Division 2, in which he and Lew Chatterley took the brunt of the backlash from fans.
  9. Shouldn't this be on a January 2014 HCDAJFU thread ?
  10. Perhaps you heard the bloke shouting it from the East Stand ? It was often wrapped up, or pre-faced with a booming "Oh, Jesus Christ NO,....FORWARD Magilton ... for Christ sake..."
  11. Hugh Fisher. Fisher deserves a mention here on behalf of my late father who rated him and admired his tenacious midfield aggression and cunning( I thought he lost much of that after his collision with Bob Wilson and a broken leg). He was part of the Alehouse midfield, but seldom got the recognition that perhaps O'Neil, and local hero Paine received at the time. When Lawrie arrived he soon treated us to some big names, and Fisher became a bit of a scapegoat. I admit, I was not a great fan as a teenager, but my Dad supported Fisher - probably only to nark me - and of course he played his part in history with his last minute equaliser v Villa in Jan 1976. October 76, and I had to admire how easily he put George Best in his pocket when the Fulham circus came to The Dell. Mark Dennis was never unpopular at The Dell, quite the opposite, he was a cult hero. Upper East Stand by any chance ?
  12. They'd get a better response parking a crew outside of Alpine's drive and seeking an opinion to be honest, would be good entertainment for the masses.
  13. That seems a sensible review of it, although - Lovren aside - I'm not sure if we have gained on Norwich, considering Fer, Van Wolfswinkle, and Redmond. Agree about the injuries, I have been saying for months that another GK is needed, the fact that Fox, Jos, Guly are still in contention indicates a shortage to me, the defenders in particular. As for talking about the January 2014 Window already, or next summer, to make progress, I thought the whole idea of sacking NA, and bringing in his continental coach was for NC to go to the next level rapidly.
  14. The new Zoltan Liptak or whatever his name was.

    Howard Webb

EDIT : just realised your 'joke' re Harold, but on the subject of Howard: I thought we were one of the first Premiership matches he took charge of, home to Villa in our first or second season at St Mary's. I remember an incident from it. Villa had a corner at the Chapel end. Ball came in, and then got knocked back out for a GK or so we thought. All players- both teams - turned to make their way upfield. Webb stayed rooted in the penalty area. With half the Villa team making their way back towards their own half, it appeared he had given a freekivk or something... then became apparent the bald f^cker had given Villa a penalty. Remarkable as there had not even been a half hearted appeal from any of their players. TV replay showed a minor shirt pull, or arm across the body of a Villa player, but so insignificant that the Villa player did not even notice it to appeal. So, I have followed Webb's climb to being a top ref with interest, with this sticking in my mind plus of course, and missing the Dutch players chest high assault on a Spanish player in the World Cup Final. But he was of course on good terms with Ferguson. Other than this the other two things about Howard Webb
  16. I think it is a fair question Hedgehog has asked. He is not calling for MP to go, but with RDM lurking, and given the connection with NC touted on here, this is going to be raised from time to time. I hope MP gets the results, but with NC's ruthless ambition this would not surprise me at all. I don't particularly want Di Matteo but the link is likely to remain. Ditto.
  17. My mistake , watching the stream I thought he got involved in an incident and had an exchange with Webb. resulting in a booking.
  18. Yes, team selection of the full backs was a little baffling. Redmond - touted on here, but perhaps we don't scout lower leagues as we have moved on to greater goals of the "next level" and recruit from a 'better' calibre of player .
  19. Two bookings in two games. Both arguably unjust, but we knew there was a disciplinary issue and short fuse before he came. At least this is an area in which he will live up to his billing. Perhaps Big Vic always has an off day and gives a low key performance after a heady European night at Parkhead. Someone has to explain to him that this is no longer an acceptable excuse. Your comment is a little unfair though, given how well he has performed in the first two games. That said, I agree Cork should be called back to the midfield with Morgan.
  20. Osvaldo - I think it was said after he joined that we had agreed a deal with Roma in May, but presumably he wanted to see what else was on offer. If he lives up to expectation - or just hope - then fine, but frankly I think we had time to seek an alternative rather than someone who didn't really want to be here. The reaction though is not just on todays result though is it ? Last week v Sunderland, a lot of huff and puff, but not convincing and we failed to take chances. With some poor defending thrown in. This for me is the crux of the matter, and something very few want to face up to: Its been a sideways move, rather than upwards move as far as results are concerned. Lovren has improved the defence no doubt, but whether our midfield performances and striking options have improved remains to be seen.
  21. No - not from a season long loan (to my knowledge).
  22. I noticed this with a bit of interest as his name was put on here as a possible target after being given a free transfer from Malaga. I suspect this was laughed off by many as not good enough, too old etc. Now he's going to Man City for £2.5m. Today, Redmond had a good game against us, scoring for Norwich who signed him for £2m . But of course we no longer look at up and coming players from lower leagues, as we - some fans, Chief Exec in particular - believe we are above this as we go up to "the next level". Lets spend millions instead, the we can be a bit more mediocre than we were before.
  23. Difference being that "ours" was in the first half, whilst still 0-0 , so perhaps a more critical time of the game. Interesting no one mentions another debatable refereeing decision, to award us a penalty in the last minute v WBA. No doubt mentioned on the WBA's sites but not here. Lets be honest we've seen similar appeals not given. So where would we be in the league without that ?
  24. It probably won't happen, but I'm disappointed we've not strengthened in the GK dept. We're only an injury to Boruc away from a problem here.
  25. I certainly wish him well, he was an integral part in turning our fortunes round and propelling us back up the leagues. As others have said, a good honest hardworking bloke, no frills or pretensions - unlike the greed and grasp of the Premiership; but that - sadly in some ways - is where we all strive to be. Agree, there are others who contributed to this as well who have been jettisoned - Barnard for example. In fairness though, I think Hammond probably had found his level in the Championship. If anything found out on occasion. That said, he often offered more than his own ability in organising others around him.
