Goal is here to dissect. It does look a rather feeble pass from the back that sets it all in motion, think it is Yoshida., and a half hearted tackle from Wanyama that gives him a chance to hit it. Good strike, but clearly needlessly gifted to them and then preventable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvY7qCNEw90 Yes, Yoshida has improved etc but he remains a mistake a game player. Even last Saturday he slipped on his arse at one point in the second half, but nothing came of it. Today's was more costly.

are you permitted to ?
-
where is that quote from ?
-
Yep, season over. Apart from the farewell party for some of our better players of course who'd like to win a trophy occasionally.
-
There's a man who values the cup competitions then.
-
No I don't, but why was he on the bench ? If he's on the bench then you have to assume he might be called on at some stage. Possibly after a couple of minutes.
-
Sh!t the bed, better start losing a few games then we wouldn't want to be in danger of finishing 7th then in that case.
-
remember the "taxi for Guly " thread ? L1 . Perhaps it was a bit premature.
-
Well, 1976 is becoming a far more distant and feint memory. Does that fit your conclusion ?
-
I heard a radio summariser after about 10 minutes of the match - Scots bloke on 5live - saying that Hoiveld seemed all at sea, and that he did not seem to have an understanding with his CB partner, Yoshida. That was after 10 minutes. All of which was obvious to everyone bar MP it seems.
-
Fonte was on the bench, and might have possibly been called upon to play 80 minutes if Hoiveld had pulled up lame at the first fence. Perhaps a one legged Fonte might have been a better option than combining JH (own goal) and Yoshida. Wanyama , is he match fit ? I can understand leaving either JC or MS out but not both.

on days like this you wonder don't you ? How much do you & I spend watching this, and the Cup remains our only real prospect of silverware. Frittered away.
-
Perhaps some bastard should have told him.
-
KD, Hoiveld, (with Yoshida alongside him) , No JC/Morgan, & Guly starting suggests otherwise.
-
The best management try and win trophies. I think I'll sleep on it before making any judgement over this: ...but I know how you're feeling.
-
I was at both. F'king glad I saved the travel cost today. Not sure my heart will take the excitement of whether we finish 7th,8th,or 9th, so might have to stay away from remaining fixtures. The glory of watching the season peter out is too much.

Get knocked out early on, I think we have seen in the League Cup that the manager is capable of selecting his "best team" to lose. Perhaps if we are in danger of a Europa League place by our league results he'll start throwing matches to avoid it. I really thought MP might see this as a chance of 'real' success, not a bit of 'window dressing' by finishing 7-8th etc. Disappointed in him. I could understand it if we were in the bottom five or so, but Christ on a bike !!!

Southampton Linked With Surprise Move for AS Monaco Winger - Lucas Ocampos
Badger replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
Don't bother coming here mate, you'll only look to be an also ran , finishing 7th or 8th, and never win a cup. -
Lost, or just surrendered, before kick off in my view.
-
Well ? Tell me, with or without an interpreter.
-
Agree. And any defence containing both Jos & Yoshida is going to be vulnerable.
-
Boluc should be on the bench at the very least. Imagine having to play Gazzaniga for 89 minutes if KD was clattered.
-
Hope both performance and result justify this selection. But initial view is that this is an inexcusably poor team given our league postion etc.
-
RIDICULOUS.
-
But I'm a little less confident with our predicted line up if it includes KD & Hooiveld.
