On the subject of MLT & Mick Channon: Agree with your observations on MC & MLT, there are very few, if any who would have a bad word to say about either and the way they have conducted themselves. Can't be said of all our former heroes. Sorry to see you edited your post yesterday about both putting up with sh!t since retiring !

Isn't Defoe another 'incredible sulk' though ? As is Bent. Of the two, Defoe is the better player in my view , although he is an ex-skate.

Sign on back of door to be added : Did you remember to wipe your arse ?

New music for team to come out to:

That's a fair comment LGTL, if I had a little more "youthfulness" on my side I'd say MLT also.
-
I expect he'd rather not feel the need in the first place. And as said before on this thread, can you imagine the furore if Lowe had done this ? Although even to Lowe's credit he might have blustered his way through a press conference explaining his reasons.

Totally agree with Channon's Sideburns on the issue, but its not just about a shirt, but part of the SFC identity being carefully eroded.
-
And a further thought on Fer, is that he too is likely to be a fraction of the Wanyama fee.
-
That seems to tie in with Nixon's description, of 'box to box.." "bit of everything .." (few goals etc.)

Agree. Always felt sorry for Holmes, as he was called into the England U21's (at a time when a call up was recognition and earnt) but pulled out injured. He never had the chance again. I often wondered if his appearance as a young man counted against him, as at 21 he had a Bjorn Borg type 'grizzly' beard and looked an old (sea salt) type of campaigner. Steady and reliable without being spectacular too often (goal from near the halfway line v Watford in the League Cup aside, and a few blistering volleys in the early days). Played LB, LM and filled in as a CB for a short while. One of the most unassuming professional footballers I've seen interviewed.

I reckon we might sign this Stoch bloke, but probably not completing the deal as soon as this week. As he is only 5'5" , this is one we might try to stretch out a bit. Better not give up the day job

Out of interest, did you ever see Channon , Paine or Davies in their prime ?
-
No ta, better option outlined below:
-
£45 for a Bristol City(identical design) shirt.

The Alehouse lads. David Armstrong - possibly one of the most unappreciated players we had, perhaps eclipsed by KK, Channon & Ball for a year or so, but still serving the club after they had all left. Under NA we had a team of "good honest hardworking professionals" as he would often tell us. Now of course we [the chairman] wants an expensively assembled, and highly paid, bunch of foreign mercenaries.

Morgan for me is critical, should be captain, he has the 'drive' to do it, and motivate those around him.

Matt Oakley might not be getting a new contact at Exeter.

Is it not being covered on SSN, or Solent ?

How Do You About One, Just One, Lawrie Mac 'Sexy' Style Signing
Badger replied to TijuanaTim's topic in The Saints
Xavi. Come on Poch, give him a call, you have to contact him about buying a table lamp from that shop in Barcelona your wife has been on about and bringing it over in person for you! The Potters Heron awaits. -
Mick Channon. Close run thing though between MLT & Mick Channon. MLT the most gifted player we have ever had, but Channon in full flight takes me back to days of childhood and teenage awe, which can not be recovered, so Mick it is. Oh, and for the great windmill celebration. And also for the personality and great west country accent. Honourable mentions to John McGrath, Jim Steele, and Mark Dennis for cult status.

Hoping we can get him then, along with 'the new Lee Todd' for the defence.

Repeating what I said on the main kit thread, the away kit is just drab, has a quality of "nothingness" to it. Someone else made the observation that the white 'v' collar makes it appear like a Rugby League shirt. The worst thing about the white 'v' for me, is that it looks reminiscent of those vile Everton blue Le Coq Sportif 'Hafnia' shirts from the 80's. Anyone who was at Highbury in 1984 will probably realise why it 'brings me out in a rash'.

Can we have a poll to see if Cortese unites or divides us?
Badger replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Saints
Cortese, the man of vision who wants to be like Barcelona, yet copies the kit style of Bristol City. -
By coincidence Ajax announced this today: So we clearly can't blame Adidas for our abortion of a kit, as they clearly still manufacture stylish classic kits (for a more discerning buyer or CEO who cares about his club's heritage).

Absolutely dreadful. Home kit is worse than I feared initially, but as I'd come to expect. Not even Rupert Lowe gave us rubbish like this, and permitted a fans vote on the home shirt. Away kit is just drab, has a quality of "nothingness" to it. Both look cheap and shoddy.
