A week or so ago, I might have agreed with you, but I'm now left with the question 'what's the point given the likely replacements SR might go for ?' Is there a candidate out there worth considering, or will we end up with another uninspiring dullard? Just have to put our trust in Spors and SR, to get it right, and unfortunately every management appointment since Ralph has been disappointing, if not just poor (even allowing for the fact Lego got us up).
-
I thought his name might come up and linked to Forest after Wilson left, but Juventus seems a bit of a leap. But then again he has worked in Italy before, and his name bandied about for bigger clubs here.
-
Why ?
-
Another trendy hipster type as far as I’m concerned. Possibly should have done better with the loan players at his disposal at Hull.
-
Spors hasn’t set the world alight in his time with us to date, we’re paying the price for his poor management appointment, and failure to address critical positions. But he has put together a new scouting network, so that may take time to bear fruit. Would this be ripped up to start again if he leaves ?
-
We have players who are like turds that simply won’t flush. But the Sporting Directors are a different thing entirely. They simply defy gravity don’t they ?
-
When I picture SR discussing our results, planning the next steps, and Still’s position this image crops up in my mind. I’m not talented enough on the IT to add Spors head but you get the idea. Not sure who the second head would be, Rasmus , Dyson bloke, or over the last few months even Dragan has become a candidate. Buffoonery is one thing SFC isn’t short of.
-
Carrick - perhaps still trading on his name as a player ? Carsley - wouldn’t rule that out as he was at Brentford at one point, although we’re meant to believe Rasmus no longer has any input. I always thought Carsley an obnoxious bastard , so that and the style being similar to Lego I hope we steer well clear.
-
Hadn’t heard of either of them before that list went up but appointing the current managers of Stevenage or Lincoln would be a very SR thing to do.
-
I don’t believe he did the last US squad
-
Indifferent to Carrick, suspect he’s trading on his name as a player. O’Neill got a fair bit of credit for his time at AFCB but crap at Wolves (plus skates link). No idea who SR will go for. Worrying. This may lead to giving it to Lallana as this season’s Rusk. What a mess. And what some fucking imbeciles we have running things. So avoidable.
-
Carrick might tick the skinny jeans criteria. Probably uses a laptop. Has a beard as well. No idea of his vaping credentials.
-
One thing worse would be bringing Lego back. Worst thing of all is that you wouldn’t put this past Spors and the other fuckwits running the club.
-
But not as good as the last one.
-
Perhaps they’ll just give Nivea a run out as interim, then announce until end of season. Saves them from actually making a decision.
-
Just a few times. Think they should rehash Rupert’s favourite ‘no one’s ruled out, no one’s ruled in ‘ mantra from his time with us, when on a managerial search.
-
About four weeks of posturing, lots of ‘many strong candidates’ and ‘great deal of interest from home and abroad ‘ ….. then appoint some fucker who is unemployed and available weeks before.
-
I like Tony Mowbray and he’d have been my choice before we appointed Martin. Solid manager in my view, who try’s to play attractive football. But since then he’s had quite a serious health scare, and then his time at WBA didn’t go well. Might still do a decent job but certainly wouldn’t fit the SR hipster laptop profile.
-
Why is it always after the next match, or run of games ???
-
Yes. No hipster vibe or credits in appointing the bloke City went for. He probably doesn’t look or fit in with the laptop crowd.
-
A shrewder appointment than the one we made this summer.
-
I don’t like many things in the modern game, and constant manager churn is part of that. Game 8 should be too early, but in the past you’ve been able to pinpoint a managers record elsewhere to see what they might create here ( even Nathan Jones ‘success’ at Luton). None of that optimism here I’m afraid. Poor appointment, let down by signings I know, but can’t see him turning it round. Derby in fact was a stay of execution even as far as I was concerned (could have gone after Hull even).
-
You make some good points, but think it’s a bit weak to continually come up with the ‘if he doesn’t do it in the next four games…’ line. We had this last season. He’s had long enough. Should have gone after Derby. Agree that no confidence in our lot to get the appointment right.
-
But now is the greatest era in our history isn’t it ?
-
I’m going but think it might be a better afternoon looking for and counting the famous 4,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire , than watching Saints.
