A proper link to a player in the foreign press - Innocent Emeghara

Is that a take on a Bananarama single ? -
I'm not sure what figures you have in mind here as the price for CMS has not been made public other than c£3m touted towards the end of the season. If we are talking of £3m or upwards for Sharp then there may not be a lot in it as far as transfer fee is concerned although I expect Maynard will want a mega wage, disproportionate to his experience. Of the three I think Maynard offers the greatest potential to us although expect Bristol City will want £3.5-£4m.

The most ludicrous "evidence" of a transfer (speculation) was: Summer of 2003 - after our Cup Final appearance,UEFA Cup beckoning, when everyone chuntered on about "taking us to the next level" and players to do that. On a Sunday evening someone posted on Saints Forever that they had seen Rupert Lowe driving along the Aston Expressway in Brum in the last hour. Therefore he must of been there to sign Darius Vassell. Cue 5 pages of posts....

I think it has reached a bit of a "level" at the moment. We have made an offer, it has been declined. The "cooling down" or 'reheating' will largely depend on Sharp when he returns to preseason training. If he makes it known he wants to play for NA again then I'd expect some deal to be thrashed out. Although as it has gone public from Doncaster's end there may be a scramble involving other clubs.

They got the sash the wrong way, serves them right. Yes, I am also aware that half our team in 1885 also had the sash going that way before anyone points it out.

especially when coming to terms with his own limited ability and the realisation that he himself was crap. Yes, tough.

Within our range although wages might have risen to unexpected levels if West Ham are sniffing around

Biggest Flop Signing & Low Expectation That Came Good
Badger replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Agree with everything you say about Jimmy Gabriel.Although I thought he left prior to Lawrie arriving when he moved to Bournemouth (they were a bit of a retirement home for some of our players in those days) Except he was a Scot rather than a scouser. -
Fair point. As the "flops and exceeded expectations "thread proves, you should not judge a players impact and contribution until they've had a chance. (With the exception of Dixon,Speedie and Hughes, where it was obvious to a f^cking idiot that they would not gel with us).

So four penalties out of fifteen league goals.Eleven from open play. The statbunker link in NickG's post would show that as 2.64 games per goal excl penalties. Is he such a prolific scorer as we think, scoring one in nearly three games ?
-
Thought he had already gone to Bayern Munich.

Some bloody good points raised there. Why don't you email the club ? Although I suspect the 'Pouring Rights' retainers paid will carry far greater weight than the prospect of us getting a decent beer.

Would be interested in finding out how many of Sharp's goals over the last two seasons have been penalties. I have checked the two sites I know but no info on this. Any of you web experts know of any sites to reveal this ?

Dundee Utd striker, good player but as Hopkins pointed out bit of a problem off the field. Arsehole infact. Perhaps we should sign him and Gary Nadine who has been arrested again in the last week on a charge of suspected arson. Some players seem to be 'serial arseholes'. These two make Barnards fisticuffs look like the actions of a choirboy.

Biggest Flop Signing & Low Expectation That Came Good
Badger replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Bit unfair on Svennson. But David Lee, christ I had forgotten about him, another Branfoot masterstroke. Two more Branfoot flops are Paul Shireen and Colin Cramb who although inexpensive were said to be signings with great potential . Neither featured in the first team to my knowledge. To these another Branfoot youngster was some Irish hothead who Reading couldn't release quick enough, but was destined to be the great midfield general within a few years (Barry Ferguson ?). This is possibly another category though, hugely hyped youngsters who never made it.Alan Ball signed one of these from his former club, Blackpool after he came to Saints,a kid called Eamonn Collins.Saints were fined for poaching him but he never played a first team match.
