I wish Jones well, but am not particularly keen on seeing Cardiff prosper partly due to some of their fans,and partly due to the fact they are playing the loan system with many other clubs supporting their push and wagebill. Agree that he deserves success after the turmoil that surrounded him for a couple of years. However I don't agree he was unfairly treated by Saints,although his exit was poorly handled by Lowe.I'm of the view he would have been shown the door a couple of months sooner had it not been for his personal circumstances.We were nosediving out the Prem that season,woeful at Villa and Newcastle before he went. Although he had looked promising for us early on,it was going downhill fast towards the end of his tenure so I'm not convinced that he would have been sucessfull with us longer term.

Agreed,an utter spacker. As a player I always viewed him as a poor man's David Speedie. I think it was Dickov who scewed a penalty miles wide against us when playing for Arsenal (in Grobelaar's first game after the 'bung' news broke).Saints won 1-0.

My recollection also. How many players prolonged their top flight careers by scoring against us ? Wright,Dublin,John Barnes,and before that Frank Worthington (although 'sod's law that he had a goal drought on joining us of course.Great player though.)

Golac without a shadow of doubt. I'll exclude KK as an "import" although he was signed from a foreign club.After Golac it would be Michael Svennson. Ekelund might have been in the running if only he had stayed and fulfilled his potential.Great shame.
