We said much the same on hearing his interview yesterday. A very dignified and sensible response. Can you imagine the response from Warnock,Clotterrill, Dalglish or Sir Anal Funguson over the foul on Lambert for their third goal ?
-
Hope he gets on well with his new manager...
-
I previously thought Kean at Blackburn most likely, but Wenger could also in the running if things don't improve there. In the NPC I suspect McLaren or Clotterrill are good candidates.
-
As we are currently looking to find a left footed CB to play alongside Fonte, I don't think playing a right footed right back, out of position, in that place is a particularly good idea frankly.
-
Stipe (?) Pletekosa or similar. Croatian I think. Still playing.
-
More like, Dear Sir Anal, F^ck off you ruddy faced, gum chewing c^nt; Saints U18's are not for sale. Yours Nicola P.S Your son Darren is also a Grade 'A' c^nt.

Why no Branfoot or Wigley as options ?
-
On the subject of Dave Beasant, he was frequently critiscised after joining Saints, as a Branfoot signing to replace Flowers he was never going to be greatly appreciated, and he did drop some goolies from time to time. One thing in his favour though he did always seem to rally the 'dressing room' when we were up against it, even when sat on the subs bench.
-
Someone suggested this to me at the time, that Beasant should have come on a minute before the end of extra time. The logic behind my friends view was that not only did Beasant have a better record of saving penalties, but psychologically it would really have thrown the Germans, seeing this giant character with a mop of hair taking to the field.

NA was keen on him in his last summer at Svaginathorpe so clearly knows about Le Fondre's abilities. As he has not made a move for him it is is clear NA also knows Le Fondre's limitations, and does not deem him up to the standard we now require.

" no one likes us, we don't care.." Putting his preference for Hull in context though, it would reunite him with Nigel Pearson, who so far is the only manager to show confidence in Waghorn during his career, and it is nearer Sunderland his home town.
-
"Eric for Scotland...." a frequent chant.Genuine belief at the time was that he had moved too far south for the SFA to remember him. One name you forgot, Gerry Gurr. Good prospect, England U21, before injury.

The inrtigue by Rodrigues is that he would be a big signing at £4.5m and not be seen as discarded by a previous club.MW is 'tarnished' by the fact he is surplus to Sven's requirements. Pretty unfair really as SGE is only looking to play his own inflated purchases. As said on another thread, MW reminds me of Gordon Watson in build and (reputed) style of play. Also when Watson was first announced I questioned why we would want a Sheff Weds reserve and what he could bring to us.I would gladly welcome a 'Gordon Watson' back in to the building now, so am willing to reserve judgement on Waghorn should he come here and hope it works out. Unfortunately for Waghorn though, he might be seen as fourth choice by some, and resented before he kicks a ball, this is the Seaborne factor, no matter how he performs some people don't forgive him for not being Elliot Ward.
-
Over an entire career, you'd have to choose Shilton. For their time with Saints its a far closer thing. In 40 years of following Saints I've never felt more more confident of a Saints gk than with Niemi there so he gets my vote.(with the exception of course of his abortion of a season 2004/5 with a 'comedy' defence in front of him).
-
I think his name was Tscheu (?) La Ling, from Ajax, Dutch of Vietnamese origin or similar. Bit of a 'ball juggler' etc, on trial with us but obviously not pursued. Norrkoping was indeed a fiasco.
-
Warnock is one of the few managers that are hated at his own club even when successful. I recall him getting Plymouth promoted and fans were delighted to see the back of him. He and Barton are well suited.
-
Adkins has a good track record of working with and improving strikers. At Sc^nthorpe he had Sharp & Keogh initially (although signed by his predecesssor I think) and then brought in Patterson, and then Hooper both of whom were then sold on. Hooper was signed for £200,000 and sold for £2m.
-
Not if we have made bids of £4.5m and £2m for others first.

Good analogy. I'm sure that the Puncheon issue was closely involved in the farting around on this deal for 3 weeks, although in the end it was other factors, as per Latvian posters comments from Gorkss that we were seeking another option. Shame that it took too long to resolve in my view, but doubt 3 cweeks are down to us. Yes, Warnock is a c^nt, of that there is no doubt. Whilst I like Cortese, I share your concern that we do appear to unnecessarily ruffle a few feathers in our dealings. We have even managed to p!ss Eastleigh off. Some may say who cares, who are they, why should we be bothered, but the next time they have an Aarron Martin on their books I would rather they assist him coming to us, rather than elsewhere.Remember the old adage "be careful who you upset on the way up, you might meet them again on the way down".

Anyone else think Burnley might be holding out for a larger bid from a Prem club, and if it does not materialise by 31st August , then £4.5m might seem a bit more attractive to them ?
-
Which discounts Fontaine and Robinson in my view. Either that or we don't have someone better in the pipeline, and are starting our search again.
-
Highly rated, and currently considered a good prospect , but why is he considered such a good potential signing ? I did not see anything remarkable last season at St Mary's despite his goal. I'm not doubting your opinion btw, just intrigued as to what he offers, at 5'7" he certainly won't be challenging RL for a place, but joining several who might partner him up front.
