I see this as the other way round, rumours only began to circulate because the club were silent on the issue of Pardew's position.The longer the club were silent the greater the rumour was fuelled. No wonder a local newspaper were reporting on it. The club, and NC in particular could have culled this within a week of the previous season finishing if they'd had a mind to.It reminded me of the 'strachan to Leeds' rumour, that was equally badly handled by the club. My own view on the Pardew episode though was that he had lost interest 2010/11 and his relationship with NC broken.Whether as a consequence of the rumours,lack of public backing earlier,we'll never really know.Perhaps he knew there would be a phone call from Mike Ashley soon.

I understand LM's articles have been positive,and it seems he has offered some sort of olive branch to reconcile things. I wish NC would graciously accept it. For all the issues some dredge up about Lawrie there is no doubting his affection for the club, or place in its history. He certainly provided the best times of my forty years supporting Saints. Yes, he can be an unofficial 'spokesman' when the media want a Saints feature,but he is probably still the best orator or publicist we have if and when needed.

According to Cotterrill there is no disciplinary problem, they are just unfortunate with referees, week after week. Interesting point about the interviewer and blaming every bastard bar himself. Reminded me of a comment about SC from his time at Burnley that towards the end he had a bit of a strained relationship with the local press and also had a gripe about the supporters not doing their bit and turning up or supporting the team...

Cotterill was highly regarded 10 years ago when he left Cheltenham. As things stand I fully expect him to realise his full potential and gravitate to his correct level.Either Bournemouth or back at Cheltenham. His interviews - almost a excuse-a-thon- are entertaining,and confirms him as a knob.

Just looked on his website and he still speaks highly of his time at Saints and the fans. Plenty of photo's from his time here from the gallery. Ocean Village might be somewhere on the med ! As someone who recalls Golac surging forward,Richardson's efforts going over the halfway line do not merit a mention frankly.

Generally ok last season, if unspectacular. To be honest the RB position worries me as neither FR or DB fill me with confidence. I was a little surprised that we invested in another LB when we had Harding & Dickson available to us, as the rb position was clearly the one more in need of improvement.

In answer to the OP, yes I think we do need another striker. RL - unrealistic to expect 46 games DC - unbelievably optimistic to expect him to go without injury for that long, plus even if fit he is 34 LB - currently injured, and then theres his court case Forte - no, I don't see him being up to this league This means pushing AL further forward perhaps, or relying on Guly.

Probably out of contract rather than just released, although I seem to recall one club releasing higher earners after relegation,may have been Sc^nthorpe. As NA knows him, I suspect he would already be here if he thought HCDAJFU. Surprised he is still without a club, perhaps he is no longer considered as "hot" a prospect as his agent believes.
