Phil Boyer was indeed an unsung hero for much of his career,as he spent it in the shadow of Ted McDougall's goalscoring at Bournemouth and Norwich before they arrived at Saints.
In 1979/80 though he was unstoppable at home,although didn't score away until January.
Great potential forward line of him and KK was expected,but it never materialised,as Channon and even a rejuvenated Charlie George for a few weeks seemed to keep him out of the side.
