The GK should probably be Gerry Gurr who was actually an outstanding prospect - and played for us in the old Division 1 - before injury ruined his career. Ronnie Ekelund also deserves a place. Finally and as an outside bet, does Steve Moran qualify ? He was never the same again after his back injury.

I can recall a similar discussion about Hughes. On seeing him play someone next to me asked, "who is that short Welshunder21 midfielder with the dark curly hair, he is so dominant ?" He could have been the best midfielder at the club when fit, no doubt. But he was always in the treatment room .
