I'm not so sure we would have as many defensive options as you suggest.Trottman is off back to PNE,and Thomas according to another thread might be heading off up north. That leaves the ageing Perry,Lancashire (?) and an untried Aaron Martin as CB options. That looks a little depleted to me. Elliot Ward probably remains a target for us as aCB. As for strikers,I can't see MK selling to us although Wouldn't be surprised by either Barnard or Simeon Jackson.

The trouble was that Prutton used this "temper",and running round like a headless chicken before making reckless tackles,to show he was "committed" and "passionate".Combine that with his clapping at the end,and it masked a number of limitations for many.

With respect Um Bongo, the Arsenal fans variation on this a few years ago, 'Feed The Yids' ,was probably better.
-
Keane ? Should have been banned from ever playing again after his admission of the assault on Haaland.
-
Agree with both of you. The FA earn bell-end status for a disproportionately long ban.Prutton however remains a complete bell-end in my view for commiting such a ridiculous show of stupidity.Add his miss at WBA into the mix and he really is a 'legendary tool'.

Can't go today but expect (hope) Saints to be fully focused and rise to the occasion. 3-1 Saints.

Wasn't it the same week, that we destroyed them in the cup ?

Didn't that close,or has someone saved it ?

A Great Chance to Steal Aussie Talent on Loan...
Badger replied to brightspark's topic in The Saints
Scott Neville was previously touted on this forum,a young right back for Perth Glory. He also happens to be son of a former Saints player,Steve Neville. As he plays in Perth I'm sure Sydenham has,or will have him under scrutiny if he is any good. -
Only occasionally did it move, and only a short distance at a time.

Generally and genuinely a good read.AP is articulate in this as he is in post match comments. He talks a lot of sense. Its very encouraging to have him especially with the background of Cortese and ML. Several have pointed out the West Ham comment, personally I was more intrigued by this Despite distancing himself from a top four club etc,you can't help but wonder if a move abroad would be seen as the perfectly complete CV.

A voice of reason.Totally agree.

Wasn't he an Arsenal reject ?
-
Barely bring myself to type it, but....Steve Foster
-
Probably. In which case we have to allow them Jimmy Dickinson c50years ago. Alan Knight ? Or wasn't he released by Arsenal ?
-
I thought Moscow were keen on speaking with him.

Hilaire started at Palace.

Sat in the car behind Peter Osgood's Cortina in a traffic jam going up the Avenue after a match once.

Now thats just name dropping for the sake of it.Probably worthy of a thread of its own on The Lounge.

Saw Terry Paine leaving a pub in Southampton once.Probably about November 1970.He was wearing a sheepskin coat.

Isn't this the role Chris Lines plays at Bristol Rovers ? As we've recently been linked with him as well.

Should this not be turned into a January HCDAJFU thread,or is that a little early ?

I too shared your suffering that morning, assuming it to be the same game.c 1979/80 from recollection. Hungover, freezing bloody cold for ctwo hours on the terrace.Pretty crap game and losing to a single goal scored by Willie Young. On a similar topic,The only game I've willingly forgone after buying a ticket was the Boxing Day fixture v Watford (c1983) as I was too hungover,or probably p!ssed still, to consider sitting behind the wheel of a car and driving there.

I don't agree with the winter break, largely because of tradition.Christmas,New Year fixtures are part of the football calender and should remain so. A late Jan-early February break just seems pointless to disrupt the momentum of the season. Anyway give the Prem big 4or5 a break and they would probably fly to Qatar,Australia,or somewhere for a prestige big money tournament.

Simeon Jackson linked to QPR for £1.5m on BBC rumours, although this has only been lifted from the Daily Mirror.
