  1. Ditto. We are too reliant on ageing or injury prone players in that department for my liking.Same might be said for RB as well if Murty signs. Volz and Whitbread could be the answer but not sure if we could attract either.
  2. Totally agree.Mortimore should not be subject to the same measures as former directors. In principle though,I think ML is correct on this in limiting the number of freeloaders.
  3. Leicester have signed a winger from Lincoln this summer.Perhaps a loan might be an option for Gradel.
  4. Perhaps he'll be an attraction in Blackpool being led up and down the beach giving kids rides.
  5. Murty ... Fat, unfit, and off the pace? Definitely. But still so much better than James at rb for much of last season.
  6. Has an uncanny resemblance to a character in a film played by Jack Nicholson (but can't recall film etc). Perhaps St Mary's is the setting for a new film "The caterer always rings twice..".
  7. Agree that an outfield player would be better as captain. However I don't see too much leadership quality in our current squad so it night have to be someone bought in.Ideal candidate for me would be Matt Oakley, which may not be as unrealistic as it first seems. Thats an intersting option but not convinced Gillot will be a fixture in the side.
  8. Isn't Kevin Dillon a skate c^nt ?
  9. Could we not also have larger pictures of Rogerfryisalegend's,and Drain076's avatars as options ? I think I missed these the first time round.
  10. Are we not conveniently overlooking the fact that he is German ?
  11. It seems a little unfair raising this before the poor bastard has even got his feet under the table, but perhaps a perfectly valid question in view of the 'revolving door' practice in football management these days. A)I expect AP would be attracted by a move to the Prem or a higher profile club esp. in London(we are in the third tier now lets be honest). So keep a watch on developments at say,Fulham,QPR or Palace. B)Not the star name many hoped for but realistically we would not have attracted a more experienced and able manager in our position. If he leaves us after building the foundations as he did at Reading then he will have done a good job.
  12. Not bothered about todays result. It is more about celebrating Saints continued existance and welcoming Markus Liebherr,Cortese and Pardew than the result. If we are stuffed 5 or 6-0, then sit back and watch Ajax hopefully play with some style. I expect us to lose 1-4,although not sure where our goal will come from. Hope we create a good atmosphere for ML.
  13. Obviously an SFC influence there,we did teach them how to play afterall.
  14. Striker : Stuart Fleetwood from Charlton on Monday.Assuming Pardew signed him initially at Charlton.
  15. Just so that we are all prepared for the inevitable after a good start to the season, where is Pardew's spiritual home ? Presume its Palace.
  16. Oliver Bierhoff will be their first signing.
  17. Mixed feeling if true. Would have preferred KK,WGS,or an up and coming manager such as Tisdale ahead of AP.Another name that was quite exciting the more I read about him was Poyet. Pardew is however a far better option than Dowie, both the Adams,Wise and Curbishley though. Just not particularly inspiring as we hope to enter a new era.
  18. That was also my interpretation of Lynam's comment.
  19. Well, having witnessed the Branfoot style, I would want Saints to knowingly return to it. Coppell's teams are also appear pretty dour to me.Palace for pitys sake were almost a template for Branfoot who coached under Coppell. I think,Gentlemen, we shall just have to agree to disagree on this issue without resorting to insults.
  20. Firstly, that is as good a summary as I've seen and agree with most of your comments.Glad that you've ommited the dour duo of Coppell and Curbishley. I wouldn't want Boothroyd for his 'style' of hoofball. Of the other two, there are several similarities in what they offer and some areas of doubt. They both offer potential but can questioned on the fact neither have had money to spend, how would they handle that ? Poyet could indeed be a good choice although Tisdale is the more likely to remain at the club longer to build it back up.Poyet I could see being lured away to Spain or even Spurs when 'arry is found out.
  21. I read that as Strachan would not be on Tony's list "because of personal reasons",if TL was drawing it up.NOT,Strachan will not be available at all because of personal reasons.
  22. Totally agree and don't understand where the fascination for such a one season wonder comes from. If we are looking at ambitous young managers with potential and some record of success then Tisdale and Poyet stand out(although Poyet has not managed on his own account as yet).
  23. Tony Adams ? Many would even prefer Hoddle to that cretin. Most names put forward have supporters and critics. It would not take lomg for the "I told you so.." and "whythe appointment was a mistake" posts to start.
  24. I'd wait until a new manager is announced before sharing that conclusion.
  25. Bobby Robson would still be a better bet even allowing for his age and health.
