  1. Yes.It was excellent news at the time as Saints couldn't afford to sack him.
  2. If the Echo article is accurate (?), he was only flying into Southampton this morning so seems unlikely he would have played.
  3. I don't think anyone would question that he had the ablity, just his application and attitude. As someone else referrred to not necessarily a "team player". He could be brilliant - if he wanted to - but on the other hand might not help team spirit to gel.
  4. As I recall, he probably played two memorable games for us,v Everton, and then v Norwich.Pretty indifferent the rest of the time if my memory serves me correctly. So sorry,I don't see that the adulation for this bloke is justified.

    Question.

Often wonder if the signing of Kevin Keegan could have been kept so secretive in the internet age. What chance someone knowing a relative of his wife's hairdresser in Hamburg with news they had been househunting in Hampshire.or someone bringing him by taxi to the Potters Heron ?
  6. Yes,pretty sure we did.
  7. In the Prutton mould then, except for scoring goals. Sadly nothing in the rulebook to stop them winning matches and something we struggle against. Feel we owe Boothroyd a thrashing;let it be Saturday.
  8. Anyone established what that song is ? Would make a brilliant anthem whenver he scores a goal.
  9. Or the new Jan Koller ? Another Carsten Jancker perhaps ?
  10. SCW and Simon Clifford are the way forward.
  11. If we can convince the authorities our fax was not working properly then a permanent signing might be possible. Otherwise its another loan.
  12. Saga is a c^nt of the highest order. As you say the talk of international ambition was solely to engineera move. The move to Notts County just shows him up as the grasping bastard he really is. He played out of his skin to obtain a contract and once obtained was quite indifferent about it. Good riddance to both him and Spasiak.
  13. I thought it sounded more like some sort of afterbirth. (Although that is placenta)
  14. Fair points, and like you I do not wish to rake over these ashes. It is a shame that a once stable club has become accustomed to calling for a management or boardroom head.
  15. The first part rests with the manager and coaching staff and it is too early to start calling for heads. The second aspect became Lowe's fault as he continually did nothing to stem the decline in terms of investment, and from the time WGS left made a succession of poor managerial appointments/decisions.
  16. It is disappointing but probably inevitable that we now have the posts ,from Trousers and Window Cleaner in particular, slating Markus Liebherr. Lets remember that we almost had no club at all.Perhaps you should ask where we might be now had Pinnacle by some quirk had got through the door and we were now at the behest of Michael Fialka and his business acumen.Of course they would have used MLT as a puppet chairman so that we might not question their intent or record but does anyone think that would be more palatable than where we are now ? Although I may be inclined to question AP's actions etc over forthcoming weeks,I am happy to leave the club in the hands of ML and Cortese as its probably the best leadership and management of the club for in excess of a decade. Finally, for ML's critics, if he decides to withdraw his interest because of fans fury, where will that leave us ?( Think Newcastle, think Mike Ashley for an obvious example if the answer isn't immediately clear enough).
  17. A clever nickname which I hope does not need to gather momentum .I also hope this prophesy of yours turns out to be incorrect. As for, "and ****ing off players rather than motivating them", is this based on knowledge or pure speculation ? Disagree about Wigley having any chance of survival;he had no track record and was clearly out of his depth whereas Pardew does have success at Reading and West Ham to speak of (lets forget the Charlton debacle - even the now high flying Redtw^tt failed at one club ). Finally,I think the Cortese interview was in advance of the Lambert signing which elated most fans at the time.
  18. Sh!t,f^ck, and bugger ! We have a new owner, can change the manager, away strip and some of the team. However we have not changed either our luck,or our ability to self destruct.
  19. Potentially a good signing but not sure he is compatibable with Lambert in the classic big bloke/quick striker combination.
  20. Perhaps trying to gloss over his time at Charlton ?
  21. Is that "NO", he wouldn't mind being sold to a CCC club, or "no" he would not move there. Not that we are a CCC club anymore of course. If he refuses such a move then he won't be seeing much - if any - first team football at Sunderland. As I know nothing about the bloke, apart from some pretty unimpressive statistics in one of the threads on here, I'm not fussed if he were to come to Saints or not.At 24 he does not have a great track record to enthuse over.
  22. Always thought Lonnie Donegan would have made a good inside forward in the 1960's.One of Ted Bates biggest mistakes not signing him.
  23. Craddock is probably the most promising of the names mentioned and the one most likely to form a good partnership with Lambert.
  24. I'd settle for that frankly.
  25. Therein lied the problem though.
