Main difference is that the "paki" referred to - as "our little paki friend" or similar -was within Prince Harry's own regiment.

Doncaster_ Most important game of season?
Badger replied to thorpie the sinner's topic in The Saints
By many accounts we had a fair quota yesterday. -
Intersting suggestion;Southampton 1885,formed 2009. I don't dislike your suggestion but would prefer a reference to St Marys in there, either as Southampton St Marys or St Marys Southampton. Perhaps we could name our playing field, lets not call it a ground or stadium yet as The Antellope Ground. If we really wanted to borrow a name that as disappeared off the radar then Southampton Vikings is another - probably inappropriate - option. Or a name we are frquently familiar with,we could call the club Southampton Nil.

If we stay up then he will have thoroughly deserved to remain in charge. However much will depend on who is around at the end of the season to make the decision. If it is Lowe then presumably he will remain with his "vision" and retain JP.This may even be our best option as I can't imagine we'd attract a much better calibre of manager whilst Lowe remains at the club, and do we really want another pre-season of a new man'finding' his best squad and options ? If Lowe were to be shunted out - and heres hoping - then we may of course be looking to regroup etc and start afresh.I would be quite happy if we looked to build again with someone like Tisdale who might be commited for a relatively longer term, but not if we go down the 'recycled manager' route. Personally I would like to see JP remain in some capacity.Whilst he may indeed be out of his depth with the first team,I think he would be suited to youth team and developing youngsters to play the game in the right - passing- fashion.

More likely to be a framed print of a beetroot cheeked smug tosser of a man in tweed, holding a freshly shot pheasant or duck in each hand. -
Good interview.Probably speaks English a lot better and clearer than the scouser we've just signed.

After the operation and recuperation Tim we have to bring Ron back for a special welcome.
-
A true great who deserves a special prayer and place in the heart of Saints fans who remember the 1960's.(Both at The Dell, and often after hours at The Testwood Hotel).
-
Don't care if it was fluked or deserved. Its three important points. Have to build on it though, and I'd like to see some experienced decent players coming in,we know we can't rely on McGoldrick between now and the end of the season despite his goal today.

Is the Bin Lowedin ? Worthy of a poster,or printable download to match the 'Hope you die soon' picture.
-
Doubt it.The spirit of Southampton as we refer to it was a success as we had a combination of The Dell crowd (vocal and close to the pitch) creating an atmosphere, and players who really cared and were totally committed. It was infectious.Remember Hassan Kachloul in our great escape year.Despite everything said about him later he responded magnificently to the crowd and the drive of Dodd-Benali-MLT. Now we have more 'paying customers' at 'The Rupertdome',a team of inexperienced youngsters without a guiding figure on or off the pitch, mixed with some transient loans and imports who are probably already thinking of where they want to play next season.

The new Lee Holmes, mark my words. -
St Marys Southampton,or Southampton St Marys as its name.
-
New manager effect. Just that we don't believe in it,or it goes in the opposite direction when we appoint and it gets worse.

John McGrath as after dinner speaker. Around the table : Ball Channon WGS Lawrie. Or to nip out for a quiet pint: Dennis O'Neil Steele Big Ron during his 60's heyday
-
Interesting as a post from Ladysaint I think, after the AGM said the Echo editor had pulled the rug from under his sports editor, and declined to run a Lawrie feature about Lowe. He may of course considered it potentially libelous, but at the time I assumed it was merely not wanting to sour their relationship with the club ( or Lowe, who as we know regards himself AS the club.)
-
Perhaps we did not want him to be cup-tied.A couple of good games,a bout of "home sickness" and he'll be off to Wigan for £2.5m by the close of the transfer window.

Almost as original as : "would anyone like a War Cry ?" "yes, please" "right,...Geronimo......"

Selling St. Mary's and developing Staplewood....
Badger replied to bigdavewatson's topic in The Saints
Likelihood of planning permission for Staplewood = nil. -
The notion of Shearer demonstrates how fanciful this Fulthorpe deal is.Its all sorted in Fulthorpes mind of course but the one essential ingredient that is lacking is the £serious dosh.
-
You can judge Lawrie entirely on his own record. Not everyone who holds that view of our club will be a 'serial non-achiever' because of their view, its just that both Claridge and Holloway are (IMO)in that category. My point was more to do with them passing judgement as if it were gospel in the media,(and people lapping it up as it suits a purpose).I've also added, that they are right on this issue.

or throwing down a gauntlet to Rupert.

Bizarre how serial non-achievers Claridge and Holloway can be considered fonts of knowledge to sit in judgement.* I'd prefer Cotterill to either of those two.Or even Dowie who has ballsed up at his last two clubs.Adams,I thought was at Brighton. *even if they are correct on this issue
