Tisdale would provide a far better option imho. Dowie would however be ahead of Boothroyd,Ince,in the order of preferences though.

Agree totally.I'd also add that it is pretty childish as well. MLT was a great player who wore the 7 shirt,arguably the greatest for Saints. But lets not forget that Paine,Ball and Keegan also wore that number. Wearing the No 7 shirt should be an inspiration to whoever is selected to wear it. If we continually drop numbers - No 8 for Mick Channon and 9 for Ron Davies seem deserving also- we will end up with an even more ridiculous numbering system than we already have.
