  1. Especially if they appoint Nathan. Remember how he had an immediate impact with us ? Well, he probably won’t have the same effect on them if he doesn’t have six weeks to confuse them with his tactics.
  2. Remarkably they didn't concede any OG's. Give him a bit longer to get his ideas across though, I'm sure it will come.
  3. That's a good summary, thanks. Not sure if its the way you've summarised it, or the weight given to various points but seems like some shades of Nathan in there. He's a far more polished and articulate version certainly, but reading about him knocking back the criticism, and his doubters is familiar. He even gets onto the topic of "compromising". Did he mention he could have worked in a Brighton Supermarket instead at some point?
  4. One thing I’d say in defence of RM , like Ralph, is that he has been let down by poor recruitment in particular of a striker. Preferably one fit enough to play and make an impact immediately, not after six months rehabilitation.
  5. Yet he caused more panic in their defence when he got into their penalty area than our timid so called strikers. Sums up a lot wrong at SFC at both ends of the pitch.
  6. But he “aligns” or something..
  7. But he’s young and from City. Bound to be the mutts nuts in a year.
  8. I wouldn’t call them “crosses” , just continually driving the ball across the penalty area, sometimes at 100mph, sometimes over everyone’s head to the other side of the box.
  9. Might even have been interested in us last summer, there were reports that Sunderland were looking elsewhere. Proper, solid, unpretentious manager, whose teams try to play attractive football. Unfortunately no beard, no "system" to implement, or part time knitwear model on his CV. Just not 'hip' enough for our decisionmakers. Rasmus knows best.
  10. Didn't think he was that impressive on Saturday, despite his goal.
  11. Is that intended as rhyming slang for the customers ?
  12. Agreed, that gets on my tits, not just with us but how it's being done through the game especially with trophy presentations (not that we need to worry about that for a while). With Ralph you felt it was something he had brought with him from Germany. Complete bollocks and no excuse at the end of the game for "Lego" to do it.
  13. It could, but then again .... who will make the selection, you trust them to get the next appointment right ?
  14. Yes, The England cap issue probably meant more in Channon's day than MLT when they handed them out quite liberally in meaningless friendlies (Geoff Thomas among others). Mick Channon did captain England though so had quite a reasonable international record. Two ironies* about his England career always stick in my mind though, when he left he wanted to win more, and strengthen his England place yet the most capped players for some time under Revie were Mike Channon and Dave Watson despite both playing in Division 2 at the time, and I think he only added a couple of more caps to his tally after leaving us for City. Always felt it a pity Channon didn't get chance to play at a World Cup in his prime (same for KK apart from his twenty minutes coming back from injury) *Shame MLG isn't around to tell us if they are in fact ironies or not though.
  15. This is the same crystal ball that saw our saviour and the second coming of Christ coming from the Welsh Valleys don't forget.
  16. Can't really comment on Paine as his best days were behind him when I started following Saints, late 60's. For me MLT, the player, stands above Lambert, and certainly Mane. The only player to come close to him in terms of status for me is Channon. That is the real difficulty if you had to choose between those two.
  17. Agreed. But we probably won’t on the grounds that he can’t go all twinkle toes with the ball at his feet. That’s the priority, not keeping the bastard ball out of the net .
  18. I thought we’d sounded him out but wasn’t interested in leaving Middlesbrough
  19. As I’m a miserable old bastard do I get a dispensation from Flynn Downes to vent my frustrations to have built up since September 2nd ?
  20. Exactly this. The on-field lethargy spread to the fans. The three subs really were the ‘handing out the cocoa/Horlicks or whatever ..’

    Danny Rohl

I have wondered this myself, but as you say a huge risk with no managerial experience behind him. Strangely I think he'd have had the support of the fans at the outset having been linked to the early success of RH in keeping us up, and not being saddled by the 'mid-table' expectation of RM. But lets be honest, his six months (if it was that) with us isn't a great reason to appoint, and his record at Bayern as I understood it was as one of Flick's assistants, then his time with the national team wasn't a great success at the WC. Hope it works out for him at Sheff Weds if he ends up going there, but wasn't there a bit of a cloud over his departure and reasons for it, or was that just one posters rumour at the time ?
  22. And that our recruitment team (Rasmus) had their head up their arse.
  23. About the play-offs. So, it’s touch and go whether we make them or not. Is that really where we should be aiming with the squad we’ve got, and £ received this summer in comparison with the rest of the division? Accepted, the squad aren’t as good as we like to think, but the play off lottery isn’t where we should be aiming
  24. We did get a decent return from him when he did play though.
  25. Trying to find the RM post match interview online, I stumbled on this following a 1-1 draw Swansea had with them in February. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-crisis-fans-booing-26347844 Obviously Rotherham are just a bogey team for RM. Nothing to worry about then.
