We’ll said. If it was a tactic we would do it early, into the channels, then press the opposition in, ala Big Jacks Ireland. There’s no doubt he wants us to get it forward quicker, but that’s different than long ball hoof football. Players lacking confidence, a lack of movement & people not wanting to make a mistake leads to knocking it long. I doubt many professionals would count that as having “played the game”. Having a lad playing in the Wessex League I’m not going to demean or run down that level as I know the standards and dedication involved. However, if you’re going to go on radio and talk about people never having played the game, talk about professional managers being out of their depth & players that “can’t wait to get off the pitch”, you need to be fire proof. I tried to Google it but most results were about him being banned for racially abusing a German non league manager. It seems a bit weird that a non league manager would start throwing “did he play the game”, whilst commenting on a premier league set up. The logical extension of that is “who have you managed”.

It was his worst performance for us by a mile imo. I thought he even hid a bit, not really wanting the ball every time, when normally he’s totally willing to receive it anywhere. His all round performance was excellent at Bournemouth, he was a million miles off that Weds.

My solution is pretty straightforward. I’d line the bunch of Son-in-Laws up and give them some home truths. If they don’t like it, they can have a go and even bring their dinners. I’d then have a chat with Jones asking him what his solution was. If I didn’t didn’t like the cut of his jib, I’d kick his welsh arse out of my office. Id then call Dyche asking what backing he’d need to sort us out. If his terms were unacceptable, I’d kick his ginger arse out of my office. What was needed from them last few minutes was to get the fucking thing in the mixer and throw extra bodies in there. If they can’t work that out, good god.
