  1. It took Fat Sam 6 games to get a win with WBA, and he was highly experienced in relegation battles by that time. There’s not much difference between how hopeless they were and us.
  2. The first team haven’t become a shambles overnight, it’s been the whole calendar year. No matter what happens from here, Ralph left a demotivated, weak as piss, mentally weak squad of sub standard players. It’s a pretty poor legacy after nearly 4 years in charge.
  3. Exactly. Maybe this “3 at the back won’t work” pony comes about because the previous management didn’t drill it properly and didn’t implement it properly. From my point of view Salisu, ABK & DCC are 3 of our better players, in some respects I’d even say they were our best 3 players. I’d want them all in the team. We’re just not good enough for one of these 3 to be on the bench. It’s the managers job to get a system where our best 11 are on the pitch, we’re just not good enough beyond that. The problem is teams have been able to pick us apart because our midfield is fucking woeful at getting near them. Give premier league players time on the ball and they’ll kill you. Personally, I’d play a back 5 with the fullbacks playing as full backs, not wing backs as the issue is our centre halves getting exposed down the flanks as a back 3. I’d then play a diamond in midfield, with Lavia and Prowse as the tips and Adams up top alone.
  4. Ralph wasn’t “hounded out” at all. If anything the majority of supporters gave him too much time. Always making excuses for him, the strangest being it “wasn’t his team”. You’re right about the rest though. Writing off the new manager so early is pathetic , particularly as this clearly isn’t “his team”. The “I want to be entertained” nods, didn’t want Claude, a guy who knew how to set up a side based on its limitations. The fact some still bang on about entertainment, some leave early, and some sit there like “customers” sums up a large minority of our support.
  5. have you seen our record in the first game of the season the past 20 fucking years? All after the managers had weeks to “get their ideas across”. Ralph had weeks to “get his ideas over” in the summer and the 2nd half performance at Spurs was easily as bad as Brighton. And that was 3 years into his spell, not 3 games. Some of the posts on here are pathetic. We were going down with Ralph, we’re probably going down with this bloke, but it’s been 3 games FFS (1 of those he only had a couple of days and most modern managers would have sat that one out). Let’s see the structure and performances of his side after the window “slams shut” before piling in on him.
  6. Do you really think the Chelsea rumours came out of thin air? You can bet your life he’s agreed to go there and bet your life his “injury “ record will be poor until he does.
  7. Remember, it’s still his team until 2025…….
  8. I’d have played Lavia & OR and let Golden Boy go.
  9. He had one 12 yards from goal and still didn’t net.
  10. I don’t think there’s another team’s supporters who when asked “were you at the 9-0” reply…….which one?
  11. Why should we listen to Stoke fans. They’re not exactly experts when it comes to managerial decisions They eventually pulled clear and finished in 13th place but some supporters had lost faith with the direct style of play and lack of goals, which were a common thread during the club's time in the Premier League under Pulis. Coates was aware that there was an "anti-Pulis element" from the moment that he brought the Welshman back to the club in 2006, but he refused to be swayed by fan opinion and his faith was rewarded. Stoke won promotion by finishing second in the Championship in 2008 and went on to retain their Premier League status in five successive seasons, finishing no lower than 14th. They also reached the FA Cup final in 2011, losing 1-0 to Manchester City, which secured a place in the Europa League, where they progressed to the knockout stage. Matthew Etherington, the Stoke winger, said: "I think the manager did a great job at the club. I know the fans were grumbling and saying they wanted a change and it looks like they have been granted their wish. I also think people have to be careful what they wish for.
  12. Can I choose the team that beat us 9-0?
  13. I would, and to soften the blow for Burnley I’d let them have the choice of Adam Armstrong, Dyneppo or Walcott, but preferably all 3….
  14. Would I want the bald twat as a son-in-law? no I fucking wouldn’t. Get the cue ball in to upset a few. Look at Newcastle, all that dough and who did they get in? Dan Bird, for his attitude, leadership, desire and mental toughness. That’s what we should be identifying, forget all the stat nonsense, get some real men in. Blokes that you want in the trenches when the muck and bullets are flying. We’ve got enough mincers to play the nice stuff, 3 old pirates together with the youngsters and we’ll stay up no bother.
  15. Dear God….. Perhaps we should break the bank and go for Ronaldo. We need a striker, he’s looking for a club and he knows where the net is. Would be a hell of a signing.
  16. I’d say keeping him till the end of Dec is sticking with a relegated manager.
  17. That’s Wolves down then, they were bottom at Xmas.
  18. What, a class player that’s looking for a club after nearly dying? Here’s hoping 🙏
  19. Thinking there’s no problems and saying to the press there’s no problems are completely different things. If he told the press some home truths, people would be slagging him off for that.
  20. What’s he meant to say, go all Harry Redknapp and say “there’s no chance of this lot staying up?” If he said that, you’d be the first moaning.
  21. Too many noddy supporters.
  22. Which clown is going to be the first to call for Nigel Adkins
  23. Fuck me, are you for real. We’re hardly the Droogs of Juventus, we might get a few “sack the board” as they leave on the 83rd minute, but it won’t be “intense”. If you think our firm will scare SR into action you’re deluded.
  24. The earlier posts on this thread are quite magnificent as well 😂
  25. There’s two obvious questions here. 1. Should Ralph have been sacked? Absolutely, he should have been. He should have gone in the summer and the fact they minced around sacking his back room staff should have rang alarm bells. Secondly, is Jones the man to replace him? From the first couple of games, it doesn’t look like it. It’s too early to judge whether he will keep us up, but clearly you can judge the bloke on 2 games, and they’ve been fuck8ng woeful. Ralph ball at its worse. I didn’t particularly notice the alleged “more direct” approach yesterday, apart from the occasional longer straight ball from the back (we hit long diagonals many times under Ralph). The disappointment for me was that I was expecting a significant decision, people make the comparison with Branfoot, but Branfoot made decisions. This bloke seemed to just play Ralph ball. Personally, I’d have liked him to do something to impose himself. Drop the keeper, change the skipper. It doesn’t need to be done aggressively or damagingly, “we want James to concentrate on his game”, “he’s going to be a great keeper, but needs taking out of the firing line”. Something that’ll show he’s not prepared to let the weak mentality continue. I guess the nearest he got to it was playing Lyanco, but he’s clearly the weakest Centre half. What I’m hoping is he doesn’t buy into the Saints way, insists on a couple of old heads (think Gary Cahill when he left Chelsea as an example). A couple of leaders, a couple of pirates to upset a few. How many fouls did we make yesterday, Brighton we’re taking the piss and we just took it. If Jones thinks he can play a slightly different version of Ralph ball he’s dead already. Fuck this pressing shite. Become hard to beat, kick and fight, and then hope we can get someone in that can score a dozen goals. Anything else and we’re fucked and he’d have blown his big chance. Graham Taylor at England. Wanted to play like big Jacks Ireland but never quite went through with it, ended up caught between 2 stools instead of being himself. Jones needs to impose his style, his tactics and live or die by the consequences.
