It was a load of old pony anyway. Shearer is the best player from outside the top 6. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What, and you think the Country is function now? The country will have to accept deaths to start function again, just as it accepts deaths to keep it moving. It’s no more abhorrent that football is played again than hairdressers or coffee shops reopening. Nobody will blame some bird giving blow drys or serving coffee if the numbers spike, why should footballers be different. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If the maximum speed limit on any road was 20mph, we’d probably cut deaths caused by car accidents to a handful a year. By your logic society is saying over 1,700 deaths is ok because you can get to places quicker. People die doing things that they strictly don’t need to. Flying, mountaineering, sailing, driving. How many people extra are going to die because football is being played behind closed doors? The whole things been blown out of all proportion, and I speak as someone who lost a loved one to this virus. If football never restarted nobody would ever die because of it. Nobody would suffer a heart attack in the ground, nobody would have an accident travelling to the match, nobody will drink too much watching Super Sunday in the pub, nobody will bang their head fighting rival supporters. There isn’t any safe activity whilst this virus is around, unless you want people to stay indoors permanently, you’re saying a few deaths are ok. Why can you stand that, but not football being played? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Not at all. But I do believe bowing to political pressure from the Chinese over this issue is pretty low. We need total transparency at this particular time. Luckily, a lot of MEP’s agree, no surprise Little Europeans defend it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Allegations that our wonderful partners in The EU delayed & then changed their report into the virus after pressure from the Chinese . Obviously, not true. It’s all “confusion”. The European Union’s foreign policy chief said there was some confusion as there was a confidential one intended for diplomats, and a second for the public that was released on Friday. “There are two different publications. Don’t make the mistake that the second one is the first one with a little bit of change” He said. Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up. It wasn’t changed, they just wanted to keep the critical one secret. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Worst Performance by an Otherwise Competent Player
Lord Duckhunter replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Lovren was a pretty good player for us, his performance at White Hart Lane that season was abysmal. A clear indication of things to come. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
The thing is, SARS should have been a wake up call for these ****ing idiots. You can bet your bottom dollar the next virus will come out of China again, I bet they don’t close these markets, stop eating or doing whatever they do with these animals. Imagine the lefties outrage if this had come from Chlorinated chicken, yet we mustn’t call it the Chinese virus. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Some journo , I think it may have been that arse Henry Winter but I can’t remember, was on radio. He claimed he’d spoken to a lot of premier league clubs & the general consensus was they’ll be about 200-250 people involved staging a closed doors game. This excludes any police or stewards needed outside to control any numpties that turn up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’d have thought it’s both. Otherwise why would nurses treating Covid patients wear masks. They can’t infect an already infected person, so the mask must be to protect them. Or am I missing something here? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Tadic at his best was sublime. Didn’t produce it anywhere near as much as we’d have liked, but when he did, man he was magic. I remember a City game where his touch, little weighted passes & angles, reminded me of Bally. Bournemouth game as well, that’ll stay long in my memory. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I agree. He got picked for England & a move to Liverpool on the back of his performances in the Premier league . Under Poch he was superb, above Pelle imo. If we’re talking about their best form in a saints shirt, I’d go 4-2-3-1 AB Clyne Shaw Toby VVD Big Vic Morgan Lallana Mane Tadic Lambert Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Woeful aren’t they? I stopped watching the briefings a couple of weeks ago mainly because of Beth Rigby, Laura Kuenssberg and Robert Peston. A you gov poll had trust in the broadcast media at record lows & those 3 planks typify the reason. They’re so full of self importance, but as you say, the actually show a lack of understanding. Newsnight has gone down the toilet, QT has become a joke since that dopey antique bird has taken over, Daily Politics (or whatever it’s called now) is a shadow of its former self since Neil cut back & everything on Sky News is unwatchable. Good job I’ve got Saints web for an impartial & sensible take on the news. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Why should they be, it’s hardly Captain Tom. Originally he was going to do 717 laps of his garden, that’s unusual and a story. Bloke runs 26 miles on a treadmill, it’s hardly hold the front page. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The point is that if the wearer doesn’t dispose of it correctly or fails to follow other recommendations because he/she has been lured into a false sense of security, you could end up with it causing more infections, not less. There are some planks that will go out with one on despite suspecting they may have the virus. The “no brainer” line is clearly ridiculously simplistic and wrong. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

There’s a debate to be had, but it’s certainly not a “no brainer”. Wearing a crash helmet on a motor cycle or seatbelt in a car is what I’d call a no brainer. Certainly not compulsory masks, especially when the experts aren’t agreed on it. If it does end up happening it’ll be more to do with giving people confidence to go back to work, than any health benefits. This is the great British public we’re speaking about, the same plums who gather on Westminster bridge each week, if you think a majority of them can; wear them properly, dispose of them properly, and continue to adhere to all the other measures, you’ve more faith in them than I have. Btw. She’s a snap dragon, not an old dragon and she’s a band 7, who has lost her father to Covid, so I’m pretty sure she’s well aware of the dangers. I’ll take her and her colleagues opinion above yours on this one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Yeah, a “no brainier”. Hope the WHO read this, and amend their website. “If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with COVID-19. Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing”. Other brainless people lacking the common sense you posses are; Dr Simon Clarke, Associate Professor in Cellular Microbiology, University of Reading, who said: “there is no evidence to suggest that face mask wearing in the community, by healthy people, can protect them from infection with respiratory viruses, including the one causing COVID-19. Inappropriate use of masks could lead to a false sense of security and cause people to neglect other, essential hygiene and distancing measures.” And Prof William Keevil, Professor of Environmental Healthcare, University of Southampton, who said: “There are many loose fitting surgical facemasks on sale made of poor quality materials which wet easily from breath moisture and provide inadequate filtration. Even wearing Class 2 or 3 surgical face masks brings problems of fitting them correctly and ensuring their safe removal and placing into an appropriate double bag container for disposal. Which should be immediately followed by washing hands. The untrained public can be regularly seen on television continuously touching and readjusting the masks, contaminating their hands and risking contacting their eyes. Indeed, what is the point of wearing a mask if you also do not protect your eyes, a known route for virus entry, as healthcare professionals do by wearing goggles and/or a full face visor. Even wearing an approved N95 (FFP2) or N99 (FFP3) respirator brings problems for the public of how to fit them and dispose of them safely. Moreover, some designs have a valve which open for exhalation of moist breath which can wet the inside of the mask, and allow better exit of carbon dioxide; these masks may give some protection for the wearer but do not protect anyone in the close vicinity if the mask wearer is shedding virus”. “No brainer, defo. I’ve just told my snap dragon that I’m not going out next week without a mask on. She was curious why, so I told her. **** the health care professionals you’ve been talking to,I’ve been told by a real expert on a football forum that it’s a “no brainer”. Don’t talk nonsense man. Winning the league plus 2 European cups in an era when Liverpool dominated trumps second any day of the week. Forest were 13th in division 2, 5 points from relegation with gates of around 8,000 when Cloughie took over. In 5 years he won, League championship, 2 European cups ,2 league cups & a European super cup. 5 years!!!!! He did it with 5 players that were at the club when they were 5 points out of the relegation zone as well. Had a forest fan walked into the bookies in Jan 75 and asked the bookies for a price on Forest winning the league, 2 European cups, 2 league cups & a super cup by 1981, I think he’d have got more than 5,000-1 . He’d probably have been sectioned under the mental health act as well. These are the clubs that have won more European cups than Forest, shows back to back wins by provincial clubs wasn’t quite as easy as some are making out. Real Madrid AC Milan Liverpool Bayern Barcelona Ajax Inter Manchester Utd I’d call that 5 year period and what forest achieved a miracle, finishing second is not. As an aside, don’t forget the guy took Derby from 17th division 2 to the league championship as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My snap dragon & a number of her colleagues believe they can do more damage then good when worn by amateurs. We’ve had long conversations about this (as I’m still working), and she’s taken advise from senior people in her hospital. A mask tends to get fiddled with, as it’s uncomfortable and unusual to wear. It is far worse for an infected person to be fiddling with their mask, than not wearing one. Also people may not be as careful as they should, thinking the mask is a barrier, when the reality is their fiddling with it has transferred the virus to their hands. Their feeling is it’s only useful if you want to give people confidence to go out, however, masking the general population will create too much demand and will also lead to people that shouldn’t go out (for example someone with a cough) still going out because they think the mask will stop them infecting others. Logistically it’s probably easier to issue refunds in one lump sum once the season is back up & running. Furloughed staff can’t do any work, so who is going to process the requests for refunds on an individual basis. Norwich & Watford will probably need to be involved as well, as I would have thought we’ve paid them already. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If the idea was to estimate the number of infections in the population, surely its not very scientific to base your results on tests given to people who feel like they’ve got a chest infection. I’d have thought more accurate results would be achieved by testing similar %’s to the general population. For example If there’s 12% BAME in the general population, then 12% of your sample should be BAME. Same amongst age groups, sex etc. You know exactly what will happen here, a load of time wasters will want testing. I don’t care what Hancock says, my snap dragon has not been offered a test via her work, let alone any of us. We all could get one via our doctors, but won’t without symptoms. I got a text from my Doctors yesterday advising they were a “Surveillance research centre” & a link to book a test. The only criteria they had was a cough for less than 7 days, “feel” you have a temperature or “feel” you have a chest infection. It’s a home testing kit which the researchers drop round your house, no questions asked. With the number of ****ing idiots we’ve got round here, they’ll put the Government well on the way towards 100,000. I bet they’ll be loads of time wasters. Thing is my Mrs could respond to that text and get a test before she gets one as an NHS worker. Seems a bit haphazard if you ask me, which is the problem with putting a targets on these sort of things. I’d rather have 50k clearly targeted tests given to people who need them, than 100k which includes people who “feel” ill. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
