  1. The gentrification of football is just a reflection on the era we live in . It's not just football , there aren't many dives around to get lashed up in, festivals are now cooperate events put on for the middle class. More like last night at the proms than Woodstock. You can't put the genie back in the bottle, it's gone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Says a lot about the type of person you are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. The modern world where the club can't ignore police advice. Imagine they move the away fans and it all kicks off, god forbid a nipper is crushed or seriously injured and during the enquiry the police explain that they'd highlighted the potential for this to happen, and the club ignored it because you and others wanted a better atmosphere. That modern world. According to the police, they're in the safest part of the ground. To move them would put up the chances of aggro and probably mean more policing & stewarding costs. And all because nobody creates an atmosphere any more Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Not this again. The police want the away fans where there are. In the modern world the club would be bonkers to ignore that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Pelle & Tadic clearly his. Didn't Toby say that Koeman was the main factor in wanting to come here. Bertrand, who knows, I'd imagine he was on our radar, but Ron could have blocked it if he didn't fancy him. I read an article where the long signing was held up as a great example of what happens nowadays. Koeman asked for a player used to playing in England that could play in a 3 or down the middle, and Les gave him 3 options and we ended up with Long. Koeman was the perfect manager for the time. Big name, needing to rebuild his career slightly, used to players leaving and supremely confident. It suited his career and it suited us. Personally, I think he'd have been a disaster last season had he stayed, but we'll never know. I don't particularly rate him and feel Everton could have found a better fit, but the two seasons we had were superb. Right place, right person, right time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. It's only going to get worse. Why on earth would the club want to reduce ticket prices for anyone, let alone the nippers. Why would they want to do anything that costs money to increase the atmosphere. Why would they want more working class lads in that couldn't afford it without concessions & don't have any spare money to waste, except to lash it up elsewhere. They're perfectly happy with more middle class, richer , older, tourist type fan. More cash to spend at our outlets, less police & stewarding costs and more importantly we're pretty much full most weeks. I doubt there's many that refuse to go anymore because of the lack of atmosphere, but plenty of middle class joes that'll stop going if we turn the clock back. There's as much chance of 1970's 80's & 90's atmosphere coming back as there is of watching Chopper Harris or Tommy Smith type tackles. It's gone, watching football is a different event now. 7. Correct. One of the biggest myths in football is how signing X makes sense because of the shirts they'll shift. As you say the manufacturer gains the most and once you add in the players image rights, the club make f u c k all from all the extra sales Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Not the shiete they sell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I like 3 at the back in a 3-5-2 because you can get two players up top without being dominated in midfield. We defo have the full backs to play it, & Long with Gabby looks a decent combination imo. The only doubt for me would be Hoedt in the wider centre back role. I haven't seen enough of him, but what I have I'm not convinced he's quick enough if sides get down the sides of us. Historically the middle of the 3 has been the ball player, stepping into midfield, but the last couple of years the wider centre halves have started to be the ones that push on. VvD & Yoshida are certainly quick enough to play the wider roles, so maybe Hoedt could play down the middle. Watching Spurs yesterday it appeared that Vertonghen & Toby were pushing on whilst Sánchez sat in the middle. With OR & Lemina able to get back in quickly VvD & Yoshida could become quite dangerous stepping into midfield. Although not a brilliant 10, Davo's the only one I'd trust to play that role & make it a 5 when they have the ball. The only issue is us becoming 5 at the back, Particularly at home. It really needs to be a 3 because if your full backs are pushed back to play in a normal full back position, we will end up being ultra defensive & end up struggling to get out of our half. Personally I like the system, whether a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-3, but do feel that it needs work and plenty of drilling on the training pitch. Apart from a decent 10, and provided Hoedt is up to it, we have the players to play it. Even Stephens could fit into that ok. Prefer 3-5-2 for us, because a 3-4-3 isn't much different from the diamond and we couldn't score then. Not wishing to go all Merrington on everybody but let's try 2 up front. 10. They did on Sunday supplement this morning, blaming the owners. These are the people that sacked Gary Rowlett so clearly they're idiots , was the basic line they took, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He played nearly every week in a top 8 side last season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Anyone who boos him is a twt Anyone who sings that stupid song is a twt. When he does something good, cheer or clap. Otherwise ignore the bloke. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Exactly People should count the number of posters contributing to a thread, rather than the number of posts or pages. There's more arguments, & discussions when we lose. Why do people insist on thinking that others are quiet because we won, the implication being they're happier when we lose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I agree. It gets 2 up front without being out numbered in midfield. Long & Gabbi look a decent pairing to me. Although I'm a fan of the system I'm not a fan of switching during the season and our back 4 isn't really our issue, so why risk it. If we want 2 up top, an old fashioned 4-4-2 can work provided Long works hard defensively ( the role Okazaki played for Leicester) . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I'd like to see Klopp's record up against Brenda's Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Let's see him next week against a decent side before wetting our pants. He was good today, but the space they gave him, particularly first half, my mum could have looked class. Utd next week, followed by tough battle at Stoke, we'll know a bit more after those Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Good away performance, tactically spot on. Best performance of the season by far, what a difference a week makes. We had a pattern of play & everybody knew their role. Long fantastic, the 2 centre halves excellent , Forster's best game for a long long time, Tadic similar . Davo & OR did well but Lemina clearly motm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Really? Sacking a bloke who got us to 8th & to a cup final in his first season isn't knee jerk? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Exactly, no way Koeman would have had us 8th without those 3. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. It was a toss up between that and FF & No goalie won Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Koeman' managerial career was pretty average prior to Saints,so maybe, just maybe, the set up & Les Reed contributed to his good seasons. I drank in a Dutch bar in Albufeira the summer we appointed him and the general consensus was that Pelle carried his Feyenoord side. Last season was the easy bit, now we'll see how good a coach he is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. There's going to be an attack on a football crowd one day, it's an obvious target. I'd imagine we'd be lower down the risk scale than a big London or Manchester club, but I share your concern. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. The fact he couldn't get a game when we had Pelle in the side suggests that, either his crosses aren't as good as they're made out to be, or his weakness in other areas of the game are too great they cancel his crossing out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Gab Marcotti has always maintained that the season he had at Saints was the freak season. His form at Liverpool is exactly the same as it was at Lyon, average. His been consistent in this view since the day Liverpool signed him & other pundits were raving about the signing He was immense for us, poor form since & the signing of Toby & VvD have diluted that a bit. But maybe that really was a freak year for him. Right coach, right partner, right protection from CDM and right sized club for him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
