If everyone in football can see his promise, what's he still doing here? Why have there been no serious offers for him. I'd be amazed if he turned out anything other than an average premier league player, bit like Andrew Surmans ended up. People are getting carried away because he hasn't looked out of place in the side lately, it's only the averageness of his last 2 years that make these last 2 months seem better. He's done better lately, but let's not get too carried away. He's still incredibly weak in the tackle ( the goal yesterday he was weak in a tackle as the move was starting), and he's still one paced. He's looking better, but that's only because he was pretty average before. I really don't get the praise, he's not a patch on Davo or OR & had PEH followed up on his early promise may not even have featured that much lately. He's clearly not a right sided player and if he's going to have a decent career needs to get into the centre. Personally, I think he'll have a similar career to Andrew Surman. Sat will be a good test, with no OR or Davo and playing away at a tough physical side he needs to step up to the plate. He needs to start taking a few games by the scruff of the neck or changing them ( like Davo did at Boscombe). Lately he seems to play well when we play well, but is average when we don't . Average players are like that, internationals & particularly FEC's aren't , they set the tone & the tempo they run games. I've seen zero evidence he'll ever be capable of that. Great performance, Tadic in particular. Well done to the manager for not panicking and taking off long, JWP or Redmond & leaving the side as it was. Defended great, although Benteke won nearly everything ( as he normally does) our alert back 4 & OR got around the second ball. I don't quite see what tourists have to do with it, we were discussing people living in the EU. Of course Spain want Brits to stay in Spain and won't do anything to jeopardise that. There's zero chance of a like for like deal not being done, but that's because we've used their citizens to trade off against ours.However the snowflakes wanted to give that up .If I was Spanish pm & The U.K. had unilaterally declared my citizens could stay, I'd say " yours can as well, but we're not going to continue to underwrite British workers health care". We've tended to have 4 , but that's not your point. You wrote" If we are serious about being a decent side " Stephens wasn't the future & should be 4th choice. How on earth can you judge whether Stephens is the future & what stage of his development he'd be at in 4 months. One thing for sure is I doubt he'd be happy with being 4th choice. If we are serious about being a side that develops youngsters with a pathway to the first team, Stephens needs to be third choice pushing the regular 2 for s starting berth. Just goes to show how correct May was to not unilaterally grant EU citizens the right to stay. Had we done so I've no doubt Spain will link Gib to allowing thousands of Brits to remain there. Have you heard of coaching, of developing players, of players learning from their experience? Are you such a football genius that you know now how an inexperienced player will be in 5 months time. If he's not the future im ****ing sure caceres isn't. Do you think young inexperienced players should just be binned if they're not top quality from the word go. Stephens didn't do any worse against Ibra than Fonte did at OT. In fact he scored a pretty similar header where he bullied Fonte & climbed way above him. We've also struggled to contain Benteke when Fonte & VvD play. Loyalty is a two way street , Stephens deserves some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've been a big critic of his, but he did ok yesterday. Still think we should get decent money for him, & look elsewhere. I just can't see him getting much better & he still has a decent reputation which means we should get a few quid for him.
