  1. Here in Poole some of the poorest do get a decent opportunity for social mobility through education. There are 2 schools that take the brightest , no matter where they live or what social background they come from. The next best performing school has a catchment area which excludes the poorest families as they are unable to afford the house prices. Strange that the schools that judge people on ability alone are shunned by politicians who allow faith schools and schools set up by any Tom **** and harry.
  2. So you define "works" as a comparison with the USA? Rather a strange definition, but one used by lefties every single time the NHS is discussed. Its as if they believe that there is only 2 choices, the american model (which for 40ish% of the population delivers fantastic care) or the NHS. Accepting the premise that nobody wants an american system of healthcare, redefine "works"
  3. I'm sick of people like brand , coogan and grant lecturing the country on what they should and should not read. They are perfectly willing to take Murdoch's shilling to further their careers , whilst moralising to the rest of us. I just wish they'd **** off .
  4. This line that is somehow undemocratic to the jocks to have a Tory government in westminster is clearly nonsense and shows a degree of ignorance. The lib/dem on QT pointed out that Orkney had never ever returned an SNP member, yet they get an SNP government. I believe that 4 or 5 times England has voted for a Tory government and go it a labour one, including the Blair one after Iraq. That ginger fishwife singer who wouldn't shut up on QT should have had that pointed out to her ( bearing in mind one of her reasons for yes vote was the war) The level of debate was depressing. Krankie saying France and Germany are independent yet share a currency, has she not heard of the ecb. EU rules also state that any new member must adopt the euro. The krankies used to accept this, until it blew up in their face. I watched the programme on catch up and its hardened my opinion that I hope they **** off and leave us alone. I know that's not a true representation of the whole country, but what a bunch of moaning twots. That singer, man I'm against domestic violence but if I was married to her would find it a real struggle not to give her a Glasgow kiss.
  5. The BBC have ruined a good programme, robin day will be turning in his grave. No mark guests, political plants in the audiance and dimble is out of his depth. Needs a complete and utter overhaul.
  6. I know, but by and large these areas accept that sometimes they get the government they didn't vote for. The whinging jocks turn the same senerio into some sort of proof that our elections work against them and their "governed from Westminster". Aren't we all? Can you imagine the outcry if English mps could vote on Scottish matters that didn't apply to the English, there would be uproar, yet we have to put up with Scottish mps voting on our health service and our education despite it being devolved and therefore not affecting their constituants.
  7. Used to like the red lion, but god knows what they've done to it. Tried the frog and parrot, but gets too busy. Alex is ok, but gets a bit frustrating sometimes, landlord keeps running out and sometimes you end up with a plastic glass. Why anyone would drink in the Alfred is beyond me and another one I can't stand is the encore.
  8. It strikes me that what the krankies are proposing is more along the lines of a federal UK, rather than a clean break and "pure" independence. Obviously they are more comfortable being in a federal Europe than a federal UK, but problems with the euro zone have put pay to that dream. I actually believe in a federal UK, with more powers being devolved locally and regions being given tax raising powers , so good luck to them in that respect. What I object to is the attitude most jocks have that somehow there's a democratic deficit because there maybe a party in power that didn't "win" the election in Scotland. That somehow a great injustice is done to the sweatys because they only elected one Tory ,but are governed by Tories. Well there's vast areas of the country that would never elect a labour member, but we had to put up with 13 years of Blair and brown ( 2 jocks , by the way). The jocks want their cake and eat it, and thanks to spineless generations of politicians from all 3 establishment parties, they're going to be able to. Devo max for the jocks and taffs, and **** all for us English is what will end up happening.
  9. We should stick to players that perform in the English league, whether they're English or not is irrelevant. Had Harry Redknapp signed Gaston for QPR and he played for them like he played for us, would you be sticking up for him quite as much? I suggest that the majority opinion would be that old Arry had been mugged off, or had some sort of deal with his agent. I bet you cant find many neutrals who share the over inflated opinion of Gaston that some on here have. Puncheon isn't good enough either, so I don't know what he's got to do with anything.
  10. Agustín Delgado was talented. I couldn't give a flying **** whether he is wanted by Inter , Fiorentina or Galatasary, couldn't give a **** whether he plays for Uruguay ( James Milner plays for England) , all I'm interested in is whether he is any good playing for Southampton. And he quite clearly is not. It makes me laugh how we hear he cant fit into our system or cant play in England. People should stop making excuses for him because, we do play in England and have had 2 different Managers with different systems , yet still he doesn't perform.
  11. Based on what? The only thing that's clear is he's not good enough for the Premier league. Mr Woo is clearly talented, but that doesn't make him a talented footballer.
  12. Do you really believe that he's going to play like a drain for 2 seasons and then light up the world cup? It does happen occasionally, but from what I've read he's flattered to deceive whilst playing internationals. I would say sell before clubs see him in brazil , and realise he's really not that good.
  13. Time to get rid, a complete and utter waste of money. No matter how hard people try and justify his ability, still harking back to 2 performances against poor Newcastle and villa peformances, he has been a complete and utter wash out. He's going to become the new Antonio or Billy Sharpe getting better and better in peoples minds the less he plays. If he goes on loan, we'll get the predictable calls for him to return, as if he's some sort of messiah. The bloke struggled when he came, struggled to get in the side and is now even struggling to make the match day squad. It used to be his age, then he was new to English football, then Nigel didn't know how to use him , now mp "doesn't like him", he's travelling a lot for world cup qualification games,he doesn't suit our system. Perhaps we should run a sweepstake on what the next excuse will be. People should take off the rose coloured glasses and accept he's not very good and that's why he can't get a game. Lets get rid,get as much money as the mugs are wiling to pay and move on.
  14. You shouldn't be at a loss to understand it, it's pretty simple. It's the result of incompetent economics. The cost of economic failure is expensive and debt will always go up during a recession. The secret is to pay it down during the upturns , something labour spectacularly failed to do. Then again they did abolish boom and bust. Everybody knows why borrowing is up, but nobody will make the proper cuts required to bring it under control. We basically have 3 social democratic parties arguing over a failed economy like 3 baldies arguing over a comb. Who you blame for the mess we're in is basically down to which side you swing, so to speak. Personally, as bad as the torys have been, I believe labour would have made things a lot worse.
  15. This money labour spent on Schools and hospitals, are you counting PFI agreements?
  16. Do you really think he'd have given it up the other end? Last min of the game and an Arsenal defender does it to Rickie, Peno to make it 1-1? No chance, he would have been wilfully blind.
  17. I don't mind a bit of FFS and ****ing hell ref, ECT. Some of the chants are a bit cringeworthy, "live in a shiete hole" is one I personally find embarrassing. I remember a Nottingham Forest game a few years back when 3 spotty ****s spent all game abusing Lee Camp , I dont mind a bit of banter is its funny or original, but just shouting "you're ****ing camp Camp" and "you gay c###, Camp", constantly is a bit much. So could understand people getting annonyed with that. One thing that does get to me is the behaviour of some supporters on the train, particularly the first one out of Waterloo after a London game. Last couple of years its got worse ,groups of yoof swearing a lot when there are people on the train who haven't been to football. Maybe I should say something, but I dont really want to get involved in a ruck at my age ,particularly in from of my nipper , and particularly as I'll probably get pasted. Perhaps im just getting older and more victor meldruw like, but to be, swearing lodly on public transport is not on.
  18. Very very easy pen to give 1-0 up minutes left, "look what a good ref I am" decision. Would he have given it up the other end to give us the chance of 1-1 , no ****ing way. Typical of modern jobsworth referees, ****ing hair pieced ****. Shocking weekend for refs again. How the Everton bloke and Rooney stayed on the pitch when brown and palace guy went off is beyond me.
  19. Clottenberg gave a soft peno at Norwich last season as well.
  20. ****ing hell, be was head and shoulders above any other midfielder today. It was men against boys, he was monster. Nobody has dominated like that since jimmy case. End of season he'll be buy of the season, no worries.
  21. I've heard countless journos saying that got it wrong, so perhaps its time for Matt to do the same. He labelled the club a " laughing stock " and yet still seems to be sticking by that instead of saying he was pleasantly surprised to be so wrong. I know this won't go down well on here, but if you're wrong you're wrong, being a great player doesn't change that. Put it like this, had harry redknapp called the club a laughing stock and then stood by that description even now, what would people think? Matt seems incapable of accepting that perhaps Nicola knows a bit more about picking managers than he does.
  22. She's clearly bringing out a weight loss or fitness DVD in time for xmas/ new year resolutions. Her agent will of set the whole thing up. My mate is a press photographer and 90% of his work is the celebs people ringing the agency he works for and tipping them off .
  23. I would call the ticket office first thing fri. Ive ne it on a train once by telling them that my nipper was ill, and his older brother is using the ticket. I said the older brother is 18 so needs an adult ticket. They were grateful for my "honesty" and upgraded it with no additional admin charge( I just paid the difference, and it was an advance so they could have whacked a load on) Never asked to see the 18 year old and my mate used the ticket. You could even call them Fri and say my nipper is ill, if he doesn't recover can his 18 year old brother come and upgrade ticket. If they say yea, get to office early, that way if they ask to see this 18 year old, you can say he's travelling down from uni up north and won't arrive till 2.50pm. They won't want to be messing about with it that near kick off. Im sure they'll be ok, unless they've had issues before. But by contacting them first, you're acting like a reasonable person and not trying to get in on a nippers ticket ( in their eyes anyway).
  24. I thought this, but can understand the club's stance. If they spunked all the money on stoke away, although no better than decorating the away end, people would soon be moaning. I've been going away for years and did 9 last year and even I was surprised at the demand for Norwich and Chelsea in particular, so can understand the ticket office misjudging it. I would think anyone making the decision would tread on the line of caution and **** the fans off rather than Nicola or his henchmen. They do seem to have a hang up over the man city game from last year. They dont seem able to see past that, had it not been 4pm on a Sunday , we'd have sold out easy.
