But nobody slags his playing ability. Even Nigel Adkins himself would be embarrassed that somebody thought he did a better job than Lawrie.
-
Perhaps someone could provide an example of where a manager was sacked and then got an honorable mention in the next programme. Kevin Keegan just said on Talksport it never happened to him. Perhaps someone has an example of where it has happened before.
-
That doesn't mean his achievements should be forgotten, and people can come out with rubbish.
-
Dont talk rubbish man. I suppose Bobby Moore would get skinned nowadays, or Stan Matthews would be behind Steve De Ridder in the pecking order. Ted and Larwie are head and shoulders above any other manager we've ever had....Fact
-
Keegan has just been on talksport saying the same happened to him, so it is not an isolated incident. Has there ever been a manager sacked, that then had a mention in the next programme.
-
Lawrie needs to get his facts right, Nigel never brought Rickie in.
-
I never saw the interpreter in the technical area last night.
-
It'll be a rant about NC, followed by stories about KK's light, the rascals, Mick Channon saying this is my hobby ect
-
Kevin Keegan just been on Talksport, said after his second spell at Newcastle exactly the same thing happened to him, not a mention in the following programme. I don't recall a massive uproar from the media over that.
-
Lawrie on Talksport at 12, so no doubt more anti NC stuff.
-
I like his attitude, quiet, but tough as nails. Got a few great defensive headers in today.

Is anyone actually going to do the pathetic hanky thing?

The SISA had the chance on national TV to send the Hanky message out, and they blew it............. -
Thought he was great tonight. He seems to be getting better and better, never gives an inch, quietly goes about his work. If he stays he's going to become a real cult hero. Just needs a song now.
-
Thought Boruc was solid, best goalkeeping display of the season. Shaw was his normal self -class Maya Yoshida-My man of the match, I think he's going to be a cult hero at the club. Schneiderlin- There's people eating humble pie over Boruc, I need to eat humble pie over this guy, never rated him, but he's got better the better level we've played in.. Fantastic piece of business, class again. Gaston-Looked a proper player tonight, did the ugly things, had a real spring in his step. Guly-Worked damn hard. Would take a draw after the weekend we've had.

Since 1921, of course there have been. Even the past 45 years I personally have seen plenty that were better players, Sounness, Dalglish, Rush, Hoddle, Keane, Shearer, Best, Charlton, Osgood, Berkamp,Henry, Law,Giles, Clarke, Ball, Robson,Moore, off the top of my head . I really think our supporters confuse having great talent with being a great player. On his day he was a great player, but sadly his day did not come around anywhere near enough to be considered one of the 100 greatest players since 1921 .

Where's all this "our greatest ever player" come from, some of us (including me) think Mick is. Personally, I wish Matt acted a bit more like Mick and stopped this endless *****ing about NC. This does not mean I think any less of his ability as a player.
-
You never know, look at the way Adam's and the Arsenal back 4 got a new lease of life when AW came along. Maybe MP's methods will prolong his career.
-
What's weird about it? Are ex players allowed to go round saying what they want without forum members commenting on it? How good a player do you need to be for your views to be unchangeable. What about Terry Paine, was he good enough or are we allowed to challenge his views. Do we have to agree with great players, simply because they were good at kicking a football around.Remember we are not talking about playing football for a club, but running a club. If Paul McCartney paints a shiete picture, do critics say he's a great songwriter therefore we cant slag his painting off. Matt is as qualified to run our football club as Nicola is qualified to play up front tonight. Therefore if he wants to comment on the running of the club, why is it weird to disagree with what he said on the basis of his playing career.

Who put NC in his position in the first place, wan't it Marcus Leibherr? That guy we sing about, that Saint that saved the club. I've no doubt Marcus knew exactly what NC was like, unless people are trying to say NC changed after Marcus died. The OP has a point. If MP turns out to be a complete and utter cock, we'll all turn on NC. Yet NC is called all the names under the sun, yet the guy who put him in charge is hero worshiped. It's a bit strange.
-
Lets face it, NC could have given Nigel a 10 year contract or even employed SAF and Le Tiss would still find something to run to the press to moan about . I get the feeling he wont be happy until he's made honorary president and Franny team Manager.
-
Treats people like what? Like Nicola treated Nigel or Nigel treated Deano, Sharpe and Dan Harding? Because from where I'm sat, they received exactly the same treatment. The person making the decision decided to get someone else in they thought would do a better job. Now, can can agree or disagree with the decision, but all this soft talk is getting embarrassing.

The ignorance showed towards our club and towards MP has astounded me. You had the European journos and the European Managers saying they'd heard of him, knew all about him, was a bright young Manager, and the rest saying he's a nobody. It hit a low when that fat chump Mick Quinn opening his show yesterday by saying "I have a question for MP, WHO ARE YA". I had a face palm moment, Quinn a fat journeyman player, asking an Argie international and respected young coach, "who are Ya". -

Only it's not a neutral and fair viewpoint. He's made his mind up NC-Bad, Adkins-good. Substitute Adkins for Pardew and he could have rewritten his story from 3 years ago. Perhaps something along the lines of: "NC did a similar thing to Alan Pardew, and despite widespread disbelief at this decisions (including from this correspondent) it turned out to be a master stroke. Only time will tell if NC has got it right again."
