  1. Does anyone know what the parkings like, being in Poole this is an easy one to get to by car.
  2. "Best League 1 squad ever"? If I could paraphrase the great John Lennon (he's not even the best drummer in the Beatles), it's not the best League 1 squad this season, let alone ever. If we're talking about the 3rd flight there have been plenty better than ours. It's even debatable whether we're the best South coast squad to grace this level. The Boscombe side under John Bond were pretty decent with people like Boyer,MacDougall,Dave Jones, Mel Mechin, and Tony Powell going onto play in the top flight.I know times have changed, but we'll have done pretty well for 5 of ours to do the same.
  3. God, Redknapp just can't help himself can he? Just seen him on SSN, "spoke to Avram and told him, if you dont want to sell him, I wont get involved". You've got to hand it to him, he's the Tony Blair of football managers.Screwing them, whilst the press lap up the good guy act.
  4. No it wasn't what I meant. I've already got tickets for all available games before they were linked to the Pompey game. The Walsall game is linked to Pompey, but I got my ticket before it was linked. Surely it cant be right that by buying my ticket regardless of whther it's linked, I miss out on the first allocation. There must be others who have Walsall tickets already, I cant be the only one.
  5. I thought the away fans were where they are, as it was easier to get them in and out of the stadium. Are the police behind any decision to move them, because although it might not be an issue in League 1 it maybe if we get back into Prem. From a personal point of view the Family section is great in the Chapel, but it wont be too many years until my youngster will want to be out with the masses. Looking at the beer is great as well, I leave it as late as possible to get to the game.If the beer was better and there was a "pub like" atmosphere in the bars, I would stroll down a bit earlier. What ever happens it's great that those in charge are thinking about things that affect us, the loyal supporter.
  6. I maybe really stupid here, but I'm confussed. I've already brought tickets for all the games available on the internet sales, I presume I dont have to buy another ticket for the Walsall game. Am I already linked?
  7. My mates Dad played for them in the 60's, but still goes down there a lot. He reckons Grant's told them he's off if there's any delay this month.
  8. This deluded bell ringer's ITK on 606, comment by blueBowkers (U14300632) posted 18 Minutes Ago Ok so having had a night to sleep on it, seems the Sunday Mirror have reported that two consortia have made bids. Now, the other boards across the internet are saying that one could be from Exxon Mobil, though quite why they would is beyond me. The other possibilty is that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is It's either Exxon Mobil, or Al Maktoum.:smt043
  9. I agree, hated him as a player, but as a Manager he's talked a lot of common sense. He's great copy and doesn't suck up to anyone.I once met his brother on holiday in Spain, seemed like quite a decent bloke.
  10. Willie McKay ?
  11. Dont know if anyone saw this or it's been posted earlier, but they were discussing Skates on Sunday Supplement. A journo on there was saying how the upcoming court cases would show that Redknapp, Storrie and Mandric were all paid a percentage of players sales, he went on to say, he had never heard of another club where the CEO and Owner took a cut of transfer sales. I bet they'll regret their "One Peter Storrie" chant.
  12. Can't believe some of the comments on here. The guys hardly put a foot wrong in the transfer window, has made us hard to beat (after years of being a soft touch) and we now look like a proper football team.OK we throw it away Saturday, but we would have been at least 3 down by that stage in the past 3 years. Would Lambert, SoD (who took 2 years to win over the Donny fans) or any of the others mentioned done any better under the circumstances that Pards faced in Aug 09? I dont think so. Promotion has never been achieved by a team with a points deduction (or if so I can't recall it), that tells you something about the drain that it has on morale, and hope. He will lead us back to the Premiership, I'm convinced of that. No matter what people on here say, but then again some of them prefered Mark Wotte to Billy Davis.
  13. In a visionary move QPR are about to announce that Martin Johnson will be taking over.
  14. Feb will be a problem for them, they'll have a couple less days to try and blag some money.
  15. I hope MoTD take the time to show 16,000 skates playing air guitar at half time. :smt043
  16. I take it you didn't see last nights game then?
  17. What about Bilko, fantastic show.
  18. I can't help feeling that the West Ham situation from a couple of years ago will go against Pompey. The league thought West Ham were down and out, so went easy on them. The ramifications of that decision have come back to haunt them 10 fold. Therefore it's inconceivable that they'll make the same mistake again this time. Unless the club pay off their football debts the embargo will not be lifted.
  19. St Marys is a far better location. My opinion is that we missed a once in a lifetime chance to build something great, but we ended up with a run of the mill stadium. Now I dont know anything about plans or the ins and outs of it, but personally I would have liked the stands nearer the pitch and a capacity of 35,000-40,000. I would have also liked it to be unique to southampton in some way.Of course it was a step up from the Dell, but when you look at Pride Park and other new stadiums, they just seem a bit better.
  20. We dont live in East germany circa 1978, if it's legal and duty is paid then any retailer can charge what they like for beer, it's none of the Govt business. If the Govt bring this in then I find it hard to tally with their loosening of the licencing laws. Binge drinking is an issue, but the problem is three fold in my opinion. 1. There are laws around being drunk and disorderly, but they never seem to be enforced nowadays. We need to put the shame back into being drunk and sick in public. French culture is awash with drinking and from an early age (and in some cases very cheap) and yet you rarely see French teenagers staggering around drunk. To be seen staggering around or sick in public in France, would bring great shame on your family. 2.Landlords used to have a free reign when dealing with youngsters drinking. We regulary used to drink under age and the landlord knew about it. If we got out of hand, the landlord or a local would step in and sort us out.I learnt to drink in a pub with older blokes and a landlord who looked out for us. Nowadays the old fashioned landlords are dissapearing and we have Managers of drink factories. 3.Drink that tastes like a soft drink. In my opinion this is the biggest problem. A teenager can only drink so much beer or lager, before becoming sick and feeling quesy. These new drinks allow them to drink and drink, with the effect only coming later on. Drink when taken properly is a wonderful thing and a pub the finest place in the world. The kids need to be taught to respect drink and use the pub as a social place. The people I've met and stories I've heard in a pub have made my life a lot more interseting.
  21. To make any money on his return we clearly need to get out of this League ASAP. He must have taken heart with our gates this season, and would have seen that Pards has spent any money given to him wisely. He seems to be taking the exact approach most wanted Rupert to take. Investment in good players, which wil pay back in terms of better performances and higher gates. It's not an exact science, but there must be a element of "speculate to acumalate". Provided it's sensible and sustainable we should be ok.
  22. If Cortese made a fool of the Club every time he opened his mouth to any media outlet, if he made the O/S write the biggest load of b******s every time we signed some reject, if he had waved a bit of paper about saying how wonderful he was, if he was seen training with a NC tracksuit on, if he employed a Rugby mate and if he had a total disregard for the supporters then I would traet him the same as Lowe. People should be judged by results. By sacking Wotte early, sticking behind Pards during the first couple of months (A start like that under Lowe and the Hoddle storries would have started) and signing the calibre of players we have, NC & ML have yet to put a foot wrong. This isn't the 1960's where the directors poke their heads in the Dressing room with a "who are we playing today chaps" only to dissapear upstirs to pour the port. This is a multi million pound industry we're in and on every level I'd rather have NC & ML than Lowe and Wilde.
  23. Could be this guy, the posters are saying he's gone off the boil. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A61581008
  24. George Cole
  25. My understanding is a bet is a debt of honour and not enforcable by law. Bookies can't sue you to pay a gambling debt but they dont have to pay out on anything. They obviously pay out 99.9999% of the time, otherwide people wouldn't use that firm. However, this guy has no chance of winning through the courts. He may get something to make the bad publicity go away, but he wont win the fukll amount or anything near it.
