As I see it, even if their full debt was to be reinstated, it would be a claim against Oldco now in liquidation, so not much joy to be had there. They would seem to be creditors of Newco, but only for the amount which Newco contracted to pay to Oldco in the Sale & Purchase Agreement, which I guess is the original CVA amount.
