This debate is petty pathetic so far. Boris probably winning by virtue of limiting what he says. Gove and Hunt making prats of themselves and Javid is an also-ran. Stewart asking the sensible questions but it’s all moot if the party and members have resolved for a rambunctious Brexiter; they won’t listen.

With respect, I very much doubt he will have the first clue about Gao's financial situation. It was reported that our board couldn't answer questions put to them by the PL so I doubt Ralph can. Having said that, I agree that it looks (although it's early stages) that he is feeling well supported. I speculated that the lack of fanfare about replacing Leslie Reed might indicate that we plan to give the first team manager a bigger say in things and perhaps that is indeed the case.

It's believable. I'm not sure there are many PL sides who he would strengthen as first choice so if Liverpool are interested he has a choice of sitting on our bench watching us scrap around in the league or sit on their bench and potentially scoop some medals. I know what I'd do!

A great example. Like women’s tennis, one watches solely for a glimpse of gusset. I played hockey to a reasonable level and I can assure you that a good boys u18 team would win Olympic women’s gold if they were competing.

I like women’s gymnastics. Different sport to the men’s gymnastics. Other than that, women’s elite sport is typically at the level of a good male amateur or semi-pro and, in my opinion, not particularly interesting as a spectacle. Obviously there are exceptions in less mainstream sports like ultra-marathons, free-diving etc.

My thoughts on the VAR are: 1) it shouldn’t be used for subjective matters (should be for offsides, mistaken identity, was it in/out of the box, did the ball go out, check for contact with the arm on handballs etc.). The exception to this is off the ball incidents that the on field officials didn’t see (potential violent conduct at the other end of the pitch, for example) 2) the decisions should be made by the VAR, not the ref pitchside 3) I should be called in to do the big matches.

Is it a Doris watching the VAR though? Probably not concentrating if Love Island or whatever is on the other channel.
