Only you could intepret the most impressive signing ever by a third tier club as a signal of penny pinching in another position and bad management. Top work, sir!
-
The quote from the FL talks about "reducing the wage bill" and signing "replacement" players on a "case-by-case" basis. In other words, if you manage to shift Ben Haim, you can sign a replacement on smaller wages. If you can sell Utaka, you can sign a replacement on smaller wages. There is nothing in there to suggest Skates are presently allowed to sign anyone.

Oh, do give this tired, unsubstantiated, paranoid, self-incriminating, rhetoric a rest.

Derby away? Sorry, boring **** alert!

Two points: One - I doubt this will happen... but... Two - those of you saying he doesn't score, blah, blah, blah... you are off your rockers if you're implying he wouldn't be an amazing asset on the pitch. If he went to a Championship club he would arguably be the best forward in the Championship. If he comes to us he will be the best forward in League One by some distance. As Thedelldays said, he would simply be a level above anything else the defenders in this league face. He would murder them.

how much do you know about players and potential signings?
benjii replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
Generally, I know naff all about most players at this level. I did spend a couple of years in Nottingham though and used to go to matches now and again so I have an opinion on Tyson which is possibly more informed than the average opinion, having watched him in the flesh several times. I am also willing to give a player extra hype if they have a good sounding name. -
Speaking more sense than anyone else on Question Time, as usual.

I bet Steve Coterill would be delighted to get a spot in the UEFA competition; it would allow him to give a run out to some of the high quality fringe players they've got in their buxom squad.
-
Well then you're a gimpaloid.
-
Oh yeah, I remember him. Looked awesome at first. Reminded me of Frankie Bennet, Neal Heaney and Kerry Dixon rolled into one.

What?

I can't believe people want us to just cast off Wotton. Very short sighted IMO. As a starter... no, obviously not. But if we're 1 goal up with a few minutes left he is the perfect guy to stick on and give the centre backs a bit of shielding from the hoofs upfield that will be heading our way. I doubt the midfielder we all aspire to sign would offer that attribute; we're really after someone with a bit more attacking instinct. Wotton should not be in the starting eleven but he has an important role to play as a senior squad member.
-
It probably does play on his mind and remorse can count in your favour as mitigation. That doesn't give rise to the principle that people who commit illegal acts should be excused prosecution if they suffer self-inflicted mental anguish as a result.

You're an admin. Don't be an adbell-end.

Yeah, that chap getting into the ambulance clearly faked the whole thing.
-
Exactly. I don't understand how anyone can hold a differing view to this without maintaining that the police should have absolute power to do whatever they want.

This is key. PFC are essentially beholden to Chanrai's whims right now. Liquidation and some sort of land deal with Gaydamak must look increasingly attractive with each passing day. Ben Haim hasn't left... that's an extra £38k for this week. Utaka hasn't left... double that £38k then. What's that.. employment tribunal award of £100k as well? Hmm....
-
This is true but I wouldn't be surprised if they can find someone willing to take it on on a Contingent Fee Arrangement (ie, no win, no fee) given the (relatively) high profile of the whole thing.
-
Everyone on here knows that Wotton is not in the same league as Hammond and Schneiderlin and so if we have an injury to one of those two we will either lose quality in the middle or have to stick a "winger" in there to cover which disrupts our usual game and probably weakens the wing. Everyone knows that. We all know that. Pardew knows that. It is known. We have loads of money. We sign good players. The window is open. There are no holes in our starting eleven. What on earth is there to be remotely "worried" about?
-
Right but our sales are up. In a recession. With an increase in prices. In the same division. Pretty good IMO.
-
We used to do that but sold the business IIRC before administration. I think it made a marginal profit but probably not enough to justify getting involved again now. Maybe someone on here still has one and knows more about what happened?
-
I've no idea if there are any other clubs who don't. I remember looking at the Exeter site for some reason and they were offering a plan but if you took it up you paid the full price so lost a renewal discount. You also paid it back pretty quickly. A cheaper option would have been to buy at the renewal price on a zero percent credit card. In most cases alternative credit is available to people. If your mate could have saved up the money with a bit more notice like you said, then I'm sure he's credit-worthy enough to get a 0% on purchases credit card? We've made a decision on what we believe is best for us and our figures seem to suggest we've made a decent decision.
-
So you want the price set at a level that every Saints fan, no matter their disposable income, can afford a season ticket? Do you want us to become insolvent again? I'm sorry but that's simply not the real world.
-
What on earth are you talking about? Do you think businesses offer credit plans because they feel sorry for poor people and want to help them out? Do you think they don't conduct financial analysis to see if offering the plans makes them more money in the long-run? Do you think all businesses should sell their product at a price that makes it affordable for the poorest person who wants to buy it? Do you think it's a good idea to sell as much of your product as possible at a discount or at it's full price? Do you think Saints ever have a chance of being competitive in the top division unless they try to maximise their revenue? Seriously, what are you thinking?
-
But that's clearly rubbish. It's feasible, you just go to less.
