The Homework thread has reminded me of my days at university when, whilst studying in the final year of my first degree, I would often recline in my room with a glass of red wine and a cigar. I found them both to be rather pleasant and relaxing and to pump my creative pistons, as it were, to a certain extent. Anyone on here like the cigar? I am thinking of taking it up again; only casually, mind.

I think I used to get about an hour to an hour and a half set each day when I was in First Form. Of course, it wasn't necessarily due in the next day so it was up to you to manage your time.

It's because of woolly-headed, liberal hugging, tree leaning, namby pamby, human rights, Euro-loving, dope smoking bums like the posters on this thread that crime runs rife through our country whilst decent citizens who try to do their small part by bringing subhuman scum to book get ridiculed.

I got a 2.6% pay rise recently. Happy to get any sort of payrise in this climate but if I had been at equivalent level a couple of years ago I would've been looking at about 10% so a tad annoying overall.

I had a dream about the lovely Holly last night. She was playing a kind of maternal role actually but obviously I still got a bit of it. It was actually rather delightful and moving, tender yet erotic.

25 with the option to "buy" (ie take unpaid) another 5 days, however the deduction is spread over 12 months so you can have it relatively painlessly. We can carry over up to 5 days too so in theory, I could have 35 in a given year. Which is nice but it puts the pressure on finding 7 weeks' worth of decent holiday time!

TBH, I only read the last couple of posts so I may well be missing the context in which people are posting at the moment. I'm not really trying to claim any moral advancement with my point; merely noting that pragmatically some people might say that the Beeb has shat on its own doorstep (and that of many who fund it) somewhat on this occassion in achieving a pyrrhic victory.

Everyone knew FIFA was corrupt anyway - there was nothing startling or urgent in this flacid programme. The Beeb clearly took a pseudo-commercial decision to time this programme for maximum publicity and I think it is perfectly legitimate to question whether a compulsorily funded public broadcaster should be doing that where it, arguably, works against the best interests of the public. That said, I don't think it had a substantive effect on the outcome. It has been well known that Blatter wanted the WC in Russia, ergo it is going to be in Russia. I'm still interested in when games are going to be played in 2022. Are any going to be played in the afternoon? It'll be, what, 45c there in June or July?
