Yes; if the appeal is completely without merit they can increase the ban. This was a clear case of a red card. If an MK Dons player had done it and not been sent off we would all be wailing about "raising his hands" etc... On another day a ref could have booked him, or sent them both off. IMO he was wrong not to send the MK Dons man off. I see no point whatsoever in an appeal though.

James showed today that he can be an excellent midfielder in League One. I would not be concerned with a midfield of Wotton, James and Lallana at all for the 2 league matches that Schneiderlin will miss. Or, in a 4 with two proper wingers, just James and Wotton in the middle.

Absoluely not. He pushed him, reasonably firmly in the face/neck. That's a red card. End of. If we appeal we will probably see it increased. He's become quite dirty and petulant recently anyway; about time he was taught a lesson.

That said, I think their player deserved a red too. He grabbed him aggressively round the collar - that is likely to cause a reaction and is violent conduct. The guy who kicked Thomas in the chest with the ball nowhere near also should have got a red.

They should both have gone or neither. James and Davis didn't need a yellow though. Ref overreacted. They should've got a red for the stamp in the chest of Thomas. Wasn't surprised to see him clatter someone after that!
