Can't remember Beckham getting to the byeline much. The problem with James is that he is predictable and not great at defending.

This is certainly true.

He's a decent squad player but quite simply is not a defender and nor is he a natural winger. He could play in centre mid but doesn't really compliment Hammond who is by far and away our best central midfielder.

He has a Premiership quality football brain and ability but physically may struggle to forge a career in that league, having neither much pace nor being particularly strong. I think he should look to move to an Italian team (seriously!) as I think he could do well in Serie A.

These two are patently good enough to play for virtually any League One club.

I'm annoyed with Pardew's team selection. A 3 of Hammond, James and Schneiderlin is not going to work. Schneiderlin and James are far too pedestrian to pose any threat to the other side. If we're going to play that system then Wotton has to come in to allow the other two to push on more. I would also like to see us play that with Lallana as one of the three and some genuine width on the left. ------------------Wotton-------------- -----Hammond---------Lallana-------- Also, Antonio should not be starting.
