Well that's clearly a completely pointless question. Clubs frequently release players who prove to be perfectly good. As an example, we released Nile Ranger who plays for Newcastle. He will be at a Premier League club next year. We stupidly got rid of Matt Mills on the cheap etc....

Bit of a pyrrhic victory given that only reason they don't (if that's true) is because Gaydamak as guarantor had to pay off Barclays (and so is now entitled to be indemnified by the club). In any case, they clearly owe a lot to a lot of people and are constantly trying to borrow money to make these payments. The fact that they don't have a bank facility is more indicative that no bank will lend them the money and they're having to look to other, hmm less orthodox, shall we say, sources rather than of their financial health.

Well, Pompey are certainly a cautionary tale for us to bear in mind. I think there is a qualitative difference though. Firstly, we are not buying these players on debt. It's pure and simple, good old fashioned benefaction from Markus. Secondly, we have some assets above and beyond a squad of players. Thirdly, our ownership structure is very simple.
