  1. We're a moosive club, man. It's nay fair I tell ya. Best fans in wa whole world man.
  2. True, that was equally gash.
  3. Rule 1.
  4. Would look out of place imo: Actually, I do like wind turbines. I find them strangely evocative. Not sure what of but I like them. I hope we have one.
  5. Maybe?
  6. I'm not sure I like the tone of this post.
  7. I agree completely. We get worse with each game I see. Got to love the Daily Mail's verdict of "expert coaching".
  8. Is Marland still President of Salisbury FC? Maybe we should try this next? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/salisbury/7731850.stm Seems better than turning to the major shareholders for money. That's just a crazy idea.
  9. Where the **** is Brucie? FFS.
  10. I find the non-ability to discriminate and modify one's herd instinct for no other reason than to conform to one's own definition of "supporter" a bit odd personally. As for the club v country analogy, it's easy with cricket because it's a bit of a joke sport that despite pseudo-professional yearnings is played at a decent level by about 6 countries and still manages to accomoodate beer-swilling fatties. Good ol' Freddie can hit a ton, down 18 pints of best, get coked to the eyeballs and meet the PM. Let's chortle at the northerner. I also think a lot of people did give up the ghost when we had an idiot like McLaren in charge. That's the point. We don't mind a plucky loser as long as they're the best option and provide some entertainment. What we don't like is completely inexplicable and bizare decisions. FFS.
  11. Only a complete gimp with no understanding of playing football whatsoever would have sent Euell off for that. It wasn't even a yellow card offence. Pathetic refereeing.

  13. I simply don't believe this and think it is actually quite laughable. Sorry. Clearly Shilton was good and arguably deserves to win this vote but to say he would make Niemi look average is surely to squint anemically through the rosiest of spectacles.
  14. As I'm the only poster on this one and I've reposted on the other, suggest closing this one!
  15. I didn't see Shilton play for Saints but I can't imagine how he could have been better than Antii. Antii's performances for us were truly world class on many occasions and I don't think that can be said about too many Saints players in my time. So that's another vote for Niemi then...
  16. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5059 eh?!
  17. Good idea! Just too young to have seen Shilton but can't imagine he could possibly have been better than Niemi. I think Niemi is probably the second best player I've ever seen at Saints. p.s. I vote for Antii Niemi.
  18. Perry should be playing.
  19. Don't forget Windsor-Clive. He was brilliant.
  20. Therein lies the paradox though. If you can't draw a line then you can't condemn anything. Nazis, terrrorists, rapists. The only option is to have the courage to say "I disagree, and I want this stopped". There's no comfort blanket of metaphysical or moral justification - you just have to stand-up. Very Sartrean I know, and most people don't like it... but there you go.
  21. I think what you've decided is that most common manifestations of patriotism are exactly that, but you have a different one which is "true" and better. Hmm. There is a risk of a relativistic paradox whenever one has these sorts of discussions. I've enjoyed the thread though - some good meaty posts all round.
  22. You can still be Deputy Prime Minister - it doesn't matter.
  23. Nonsense. Correct. No need to comment on this.
  24. It's funny that the Echo decided to pick a headline denying something that no-one who actually paid attention to what was said had ever suggested.
