Rudi: Too many youngsters playing and I want away
benjii replied to Big Ron fan's topic in The Saints
 Yeah, I'm sure he was really talking about a financial challenge. Honestly, what a dullard. -
Documentary on now. Might be a sensitive and illuminating portrayal of a troubled genius and his battle with the booze. Hope not, hope it's funny.

Spot on, mate. Absolutely spot on.

I think it is a different scenario really. The role of a captain in cricket is much more far reaching than the role of a captain in football. Interesting comparison though... I think however you look at it Lowe messed up big-time. Either he was right to sack Sturrock, in which case it was an awful appointment or he was wrong to sack Sturrock in which case he compunded this error by making an awful managerial appointment in his replacement. I wonder if he'll ever do that again..... whoops.

He may have turned up, looked at the salary offer, laughed a bit, then left again.

Davis saw it once at full speed from a funny angle. I don't doubt it may have looked like a pen. That's not the point. The point is what do people think having seen the slow-mo? I'm genuinely surprised that people think it hit his arm, having seen that. On a more interesting note, imagine if video evidence was used and the pen had still been given. I'd have been ****ing livid!!

The irony. TBF I like GM - his posts are interesting and he invests more time on research etc. than any [normal] other posters. I completely disagree that the match was good value though. We were inept and flacid. It was utterly pointless. Like going to the theatre and watching robots.

Are we the only team who can't sack our manager, regardless of the results?
benjii replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
I fully agree with this. If his task is purely polishing a turd then you can excuse poor results. Unfortunately we just get worse and worse, our players don't appear to be prepared for matches properly, our team is really rather odd, the manager does not appear to know what he is doing. -
I love being the centre of attention. Look at me!!

Can we have one please mods? Just as a bit of "fun". I've watched the super slow-mo's several times and so I am quite amazed that some people seem to think McGoldrick committed a handball. Now, I enjoy a tommy-tank as much as the next man but I'm pretty confident that it is really quite obvious that the ball hit McGoldrick on the back of his shoulder/neck and head and that my eyesight is superb. Can we settle this once for all?

Chorley is without doubt a legend IMO. Hilarious bloke. He will keep us all amused with his antics throughout our darkest hours. I think the OS should follow up its last story about him with a regular "Where's Chorley?" feature.

Probably not. It's kind of vital that the manager is competent. -

I think we're the only one Revolutionary enough to persevere. -
Selling St. Mary's and developing Staplewood....

Can we knock it down, drag The Dell flats over there and rebuild The Dell instead please? -
ooh, er missus No, indeed they did not, but if footballers play badly they tend to get slated. It's that kind of industry and I think the realisation that Lowe's grand vision is a hollow dream will unfortunately be a problem borne by them as well as all true fans of the club.

August 2009 - The aftermath of relegation and administration
benjii replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
In the real world CVAs don't work. Not sure why the FA is fixated with them - especially when it's its own greed and incompetence that partially fosters the financial mess the game is in. -
Maybe if they weren't trumpeted as the products of the world's greatest ever academy at every opportunity and we weren't constantly fed nonsense about what lovely football they play and how they've grown up playing an attacking Dutch style we might be a little more forgiving. Oh, and "not much of a fan" - good one.

Thanks.

August 2009 - The aftermath of relegation and administration
benjii replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
It's a 10 point penalty for administration. In either the season you enter it or the next if it occurs later in the season. You can get further deductions for irregularities or for failing to agree a CVA (I think). Quite why the FA insists on agreeing a CVA is anyone's guess. -

Returning the club to the ownership of those who have some connection with the local community and an understanding of what our core supporters want would be my preference. The Premiership club is gone. The money is gone. The crowds are gone. We might as well have something we can be proud of on a moral level at least.
