Being ignorant of barrow-boy, self-obsessed, lower-class, slum-talk is no shame.

Sturrock's last game? Can't remember but we won it 3-2 with a dodgy penalty!
-
He appears to have little "eye-brow slits". Oh dear. Bo selecta.
-
I think it might be the 4-2 win against Fulham. I seem to recall there was a hat-trick hero. Beattie I think.

It's nothing to do with the structure really. No one is going to lend a company with a trunover of around £45m (subject to the vicissitudes of sport) £20m+ without wanting all encompassing security, including legal charges over fixed assets, whatever the nature of the debt.
-
As I've stated before, the only way certain assets (within the whole group) could be protected from administration by some sort of machiavellian hive-up would be if an almighty ****-up had been made by our secured creditors. The chances are 0.0000001%.

I predict a 4-2-1-2-1 formation, to seamlessly morph into a 4-6-0 formation as required.

We had a CORGI fitter replace our gas boiler once. He was smoking whilst he did it. I pointed out that probably wasn't a good dea, what with the gas and all, so he stopped. Made me question the value of the CORGI system really. I would have never entrusted the sector to a dog in the first place.

Prreeeeeeetttyyy, preeeeettty good.

I actually agree with a fair amount of that. I was just trying to stir up some debate really! I do think there's a certain amount of rose-tinted nostalgia though. I remember matches at the Dell where a limp, flacid song would float impotently out of the bottom tier of the Milton to be lost forever on the thermal of forlorn hope, while the rest of the ground hunkered down in spectatorly order. If we had continued in the same vein as under WGS I expect the atmosphere at SMS would be lauded. (By the way, yes Anfield! No noise from anywhere - I've been there three times.)
-
I apologise. When you said, "there may be more to the matter", I took this to mean that the injury was not the true reason. I understand now that you were actually saying that he is injured but that, even if he were not, he may not be playing. I see what you mean. Sorry again
-
There is nothing inherently bad about these new grounds. As someone above said, the atmosphere against Sheff U last season or during a Premiership sell-out easily compares with anything the Dell could rustle up. Twice as many people = twice as much noise (roughly, sort of!). Character often comes from age. In 100 years time today's modern stadia will probably be viewed as quaint and haggard. True, there is presently a lack of individuality in new grounds but that is partly because they are all new. The Dell didn't arrive with its character overnight. It developed organically. The Archers changed several times. The Milton changed (to hilarious effect). So too will the new stadia develop idiosyncracies and nuances over the years. Even now, there are stadia being built which make SMS, Riverside etc. look like relics (Munich, Valencia...). Every time I've been to Anfield it's been like a library anyway.

He played in our cup match against Birmingham which I think was our third game of the season. He played well. He got injured shortly after didn't he? If you can explain why a footballer would pretend to be injured I am all ears. Clearly if he fell into the Stern John / Rasiak / Saga category of "players we want to get rid of at all costs" and was fit he would've been loaned to someone by now. You can't say there aren't any Championship teams who wouldn't take him.
-
No, no, no. I'm a mod and I can vouch for him wholeheartedly. :smt045

T'is a shame... he was maligned a bit last season but is the physical presence we have been crying out for at the back.

Are we better off than when Crouch was here?
benjii replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
I am convinced by your robust yet elegant argument. -
The LSE does not have to be informed if someone is working towards putting a bid together. "Tyre kicker" is also a misleading phrase to bandy about IMO. They clearly are interested in investing.
-
If they had that they wouldn't have got relegated? If we go down would you expect us to walk back up again? If Leicester come up Pearson has done a brilliant job of arresting the despair at a club at its lowest ebb for decades.... sound familiar?
-
When you read that it just highlights Lowe's wafer-thin knowledge of football IMO. Delgado outscored Batigol and Crespo, therefore we signed him. That's out of the "Saints beat x and x beat y therefore Saints are better than y" school of playground arguments.

Sign of the times. Last season it was Boasters and Jammy Dodgers. ps. Rumour has it, promotion = chocolate hob-nobs.

I'm cheeky like that. I was just reporting what Solent said, which to me sounded as though he was in the dressing room talking to the players just before kick-off. That to me is when the team talk happens, and therefore it was a team-talk. If it was no more than an introduction and a brief explanation as to why all the best players are leaving then it seems like slightly odd timing.
-
Maybe Lowe's pep-talk was a "do it for the gaffer (or I'll sack him)" talk.
-
I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd done a Dave Lee-Travis.
-
He just sounded so deflated. The interviewer wasn't even giving him a hardtime. They could have questioned him about the strange substitutions or the inability/unwillingness to change shape, but they were fairly bland questions and he sounded like he couldn't be arsed anymore. I'm very worried!
