Funny, I don't think he's having a particularly great season for us. I think he's done well over the last few games but I think we've seen him play better in spells last year. I would describe his form as sporadic although there are some signs that at last he might be getting to grips with our formation and his role in it. Here's hoping it continues. I think he's been picked for England based mainly on potential rather than form and of course because he play in the trendy wide role in the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. I agree with others that he is a physically fine specimen. If we ever get to see a J Rod fulfil his maximum potential in a Saints shirt it will be something to behold, I'm sure. I hope we do, he seems like a good hard working lad.

I think this will be a very exciting game and I can't wait (this internaitonal break already seems like forever damnit). Two strong footballing styles coming together. Arsenal coming off the back of a disappointing loss to United and we're coming off the back of the best all-round performance I have ever witnessed vs Hull. I think par would be losing by the odd goal. A draw would be a very good result and a win would be incredible. Losing by more than one would be very disappointing. I am more confident about our chances when we play Chelsea. I am tipping Arsenal for the title this year. I'm sure they'll still be up there come the end of the year and they will buy a striker in January. That said, I don't think they'll run away with the title and I can see 6 or 7 teams all fighting over the top spots to the death, based on every team having apparent weaknesses.

I want to see some pretty nasty injuries inflicted on our opponents at the top. Suarez, Rooney/RVP, Giroud, Aguero (Silva already out for about a month), Hazard/Oscar, Vertongen and Dawson. Let's see how the other teams cope then. MOTD2 analysis last night suggested Loris may have done better for Remy's goal than Brad Fridel. United would look fairly ordinary without their first choice strikers and so on.

Some of you guys need to put the keyboard down and go and have sex. Chill out guys.

The performance tonight shows why we cannot afford to risk our first-teamers in this cup. Come on Glasgow, the JPT was completely different - it was a signal that we were on the up, it was the only cup we honestly stood a chance of winning, we weren't that worried about injuries to first-teamers, the new owner was keen to give the fans something positive etc etc.....it really doesn't compare.

Glad we are out and without picking up any injuries to first team players. Did not fancy us playing Chelsea or their reserves during a busy December schedule. Let's now focus on the two competitions that really matter.

One way to defeat a press maybe to play long balls, but Poch knows that. Lovren and Wanyama offer the aggressive physical presence to counter that. If I were an opponent I wouldnt want to play against Saints right now - we've no obvious weaknesses at the back.

Pleased he and NC seem to be back on terms after the Summer.

I say that it's the ambition of our players and coaches that lays behind us becoming a superbly well drilled team. When a group of highly ambitious and talented people get together the sky is the limit. I had to laugh recently when I heard that Chamakh refuses to train twice a day. He doesn't strike me as the sort of player that's interested in reaching his potential. Listen back to some of the recent interviews or to the next few and see how often the word is mentioned.

This is a word that has been mentioned frequently by players and staff this season. Increasingly so. It is incredibly important to have ambition. It's what fuels the players' desire to train so hard, to look after themselves between matches, to put in fantastic effort on matchdays and so on. The Fulham game showed two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum in so many ways, in particular one playing old fashioned football under a tactically inept manager and one playing futuristic football under a progressive and tactically astute manager. But should Fulham's players and their tactics really have looked that bad compared to Saints? No. For me the biggest difference was ambition - our players were driven on Saturday. Driven by the prospect of over-achieving at little old Saints (I suggest this is a lot more rewarding than succeeding at a club where it is expected), driven by the prospect of gaining even more national and international plaudits and recognition, driven by the very real prospect of playing international football, driven by the thrill of winning and driven by the prospect of seeing just how good they can be (as a team and personally). For me, the ambition of the club and players has been evident for years but this year it's coming to fruition. Personally I think Cortesse is at the root of this and he is great at getting others to understand his vision and ambition and gaining buy in - the hallmark of a top top CEO. Exciting times. Because of ambition.

Other teams will get fatigued too. Our test will be over Xmas when the games come thick and fast. We don't have the strength in depth that other clubs do. December really will be a pivotal time for our season.

Chill the heck out!! Our CB's and FB's have been immense and we have the best combative deep midfield pairing in the Prem with Wanyama and Morgan. I watched the Fulham Palace game on Monday - Palace were really bad and Fulham really weren't great in large spells. We will get plenty of chances tomorrow and I think we'll take them. I don't expect Fulham to offer much going forward. We won't let them come at us like Palace did.
-
They will have someone they think is better in mind, or they wouldn't have let him go.

Would you rather **** a really fit post-op transgender bird or a big hairy ugly real bird?

You would drop Davis for Gaston. Really?

Three very winnable games in a row now. Win all 3 and we can go into the tougher ones that follow with real confidence and with nothing to lose. I don't see Fulham scoring against us at home. I predict a dominant 2-0 win. Stoke away we will nick 1-0 and then back to St Marys for a 2-1 win. Lallana is absolutely key these next few games. Davis has been fantastic. I really want to see either Lambert or J Rod hold the last available place down with some excellent performances, sadly I don't think it will happen and I see them interchanging depending on who and where we play (would be amazed if we dont start with Lambo vs Fulham at home for example). Now imagine if we had Benega in that last available spot hmmmmmmm If I were an opposing player I wouldn't fancy my team's chances of scoring against the Premier League's most in form keeper (IMO), two future England full-backs, one of the best attacking central defenders around and a Fonte who has been playing out of skin behind Wanyama, Morgan and Davis who hassle, hurry and turnover possession like there's no tomorrow. We really are a force to be reckoned with on our day.
-
It's very largely due to the way we play. The pace and ferocity of the Prem is secondary (in fact I think there is more time and space in the Prem than most people give it credit - the influx of foreign players, styles and managers has seen to that). A good technical player, which he is, will make space and will cope in tight situations. He isnt right for us.
-
Yes, lazy is the wrong term. MP demands high tempo and heavy work rate - the shift Lallana put in last week is a perfect example - and I just don't think Gaston is suited to that. We need the team to play in units or the whole thing breaks down. Gaston may appear to some to be lazy because he doesn't join in with this style of play, but I wouldn't call him lazy, no. It is interesting however that neither manager seemed convinced he was able to play more than about 60 mins. I have wondered whether there is a questionmark over his natural fitness. This would of course be highlighted in a squad as fit as ours. He'll be a good player for some other team and I will not be sad to see him go. Best cash in now before his value falls further.
-
Spot on and add to that an appauling temperament and disciplinary record for someone playing in that position. Opposition players know how to get the best of him. You simply can't let teams get the better of you so cheaply in the Prem. Now Osvaldo on the other hand has impressed me immensely with his temperament.

I find a smidge of Vaseline around the bell is required if using the knob-sack instead of pants to prevent joggers-cock.
