Defoe is back, hence why I made the point about him being best finisher when he left. I wouldn't say he's the best finisher now. Kane has that now but Berahino in a good chance creating team could be right up there

Thanks for the reply. What do you think we shod do over summer? To the later reply, yes I do know def

Assume we don't make Europe because currently it looks unlikely. How do we realistically build for next season? I reckon: Janmaat for Clyne and Classe for Schneiderlin. We need an alternative to Pelle. I would love to keep J Rod and rotate them in the cf role based on form. I'd love to see Berahino join too, for me he's the best natural finisher in the prem since Defo left for Toronto. Keeping Toby must also be a massive priority and I reckon he'll be as interested in knowing the plan for the rest of the team and the seasons ambition as much as anything. This season has surpassed my expectations already. I'm really looking forward to next season. How would you look to build over summer??

Even if he does go elsewhere, the club will have done outstandingly well to have got him in for a season. And I trust they'll find a quality replacement in the Summer. I just wonder how much of an impact his injuries will have on the chance of a big transfer.

Seriously? The guy who can't beat the first defender with his crosses? You really think Morgan has been better than Vic this season? wow.
-
1. Big Vic - he's taken it to the next level and even put Morgan in the shade this season 2. Clyne - Best right back in the Prem arguably with Ivanovic 3. Toby - the guy can play anywhere and still looks Rolls Royce. Absolute class 4. Morgan - top player but has been off of the pace a bit this year. When he leaves for a bugger club I reckon he'll be in for a rough ride. Our system suits him 5. Mane - the best is yet to come, you mark my words

Saw this on FB. Awesome!!

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-1 Swansea
Junior Mullet replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
We were playing Mane and Pelle centrally (Mane leading the line with Pelle taking up a deeper role) just before Mane was injured. It worked vs Chelsea and I expect Koeman to tinker with the formation now that he has options once again. He's tinkered with the formation throughout the season but recently it's been difficult given the lack of first team quality players available. -

Calm down guys. 4th place with 15 games to go ain't too shabby. Of all the injured players we are missing Big Vic the most. I know Schneiderlin is absolute class but, for me, Vic has been our best defensive midfielder by a mile this season. I think he's improved immensely on last year in just about all ways. We really missed our midfield engine room today. We will be back on it once Schneiderlin and Wanyama return and allow Davis to play further forward in place of JWP. Add to that Toby coming back to partner Fonte and we're still in good shape. In a few weeks time the European games kick off again. Liverpool have a bit of fixture congestion when they come to play us. We have bounced back before this season, we will do so again. COYRAWM -
Liverpool have just showed over two matches (to show it's no fluke) how to beat Chelsea. We showed it in glimpses too. Spurs definitely showed it. They dont look as unbeatable as they did earlier in the season. We have a great chance. The above results predictor does not seem to take account of Arsenal's inconsistency this season.

Swansea are beatable in so many ways I certainly wouldnt be betting on them, even at odds of 5-1
-
Mane to start surely?? He was incredible before his injury and I can see him on the right and Elia on the left feeding off of Pelle being bloody scary for Swansea. Or maybe Mane in the middle with Pelle and Tadic on the right. How does this look: Forster Clyne Fonte Yoshida Bertrand Davis JWP Tadic Elia Pelle Mane I get the impression Ron doesn't rate Gardos too highly and given who we're playing I fully expect Yoshida to start.
-
Can't wait to get Mane back now. If he comes back showing the same form he did before leaving for the ACON we'll still have a great chance of finishing high. If we can get 10 games or so out of JRod that was be a bonus but I'm not hopeful of seeing him this season. Hope Shane recovers quick - he does add something to the team and Ron seems to know how best to use him.
-
We will not get a better chance to beat them, given the sale of Bony, loss of players to tournaments, injuries and suspensions. They really are on a poor run of form and without Siggurdson its difficult to see where their goals will come from. Dont slit wrists after the Palace game. Remember the Arsenal, United and Newcastle games. The team will be fully focused on the game and desperately want to achieve top 4. This game can and should take us one step closer. Never mind dropping Tadic, Cork or Gardos....I trust in Ron to manage them in the right way to make sure they are ready for Swansea.
-
Except when a draw isn't good enough for them and they come to Saint Marys and open up rather than parking the bus. I wonder if we will see a team with both Mane and Elia feeding off of Pelle knock-downs this season. That could be exciting!
-
The return of Sturridge and him linking with Mario will be crucial. And they need to cope with European games. And they need to keep Lovren out of the side. It won't be easy for them.
-
I think Clyne, for example, would get over £100k easily from United. We simply can't compete with that - to match those wages would blow a hole in our wage structure and have a serious knock-on effect on the rest of the squad. Then there's financial fair play....... Player careers are also relatively short and they never know when an injury will put an end to it all - you kinda understand them wanting to play for a massive club who can compete for trophies year in, year out. I hope they all stay but if they don't I wont wet the bed like I did last year. We've proven that the club's foundations are incredibly strong and we have one of the very best managers in Europe right now - we have replaced our best before and we can do so again.

Newcastle 1 - 2 Southampton Post Match euphoria
Junior Mullet replied to SNSUN's topic in The Saints
I love this -
That's why I think they'll come out fighting. They were all ovef chelsea in the first 20. they'll want to do well in front of their home crowd.
-
Clyne gardos fonte Bertrand Cork Davis Tadic jwp Elia Pelle That's good enough to beat Newcastle. They'll come out of the blocks quickly but if we can withstand the early barrage we will win
-
Heart says 4th, head says 6th. The last two wins however are making my head think my heart might know something it doesnt.
-
Koeman was doing his nut just before taking him off because he kicked the ball into touch rather than upfield where we had players. He gave possession back to Arsenal and Ron was going mad just in front of me.
-
This is a winnable game. We didn't do ourselves justice up there and yes, we can more than match them in the middle, even without Morgan. Arsenal are completely Plan A = we know exactly how they will line up and how they will play (stubborn Wenger) and Koeman and Co will know what to do to beat them. The thought of Mane's pace against their back line excites me as does the thought of Long coming on for the last 20 mins. Totally winnable 6 pointer. It feels like our best chance to beat them in the league for a long time. Come on you Saints!!!!
-
I think out of ourselves, Newcastle and West Ham, the Hammers have the best chance of getting top 4. I think they're strong all over and with Sakho, Valencia and Caroll they have three good strikers who can all score goals in different ways. We will fall down the table because we have become predictable and have very few options. Good luck to them too - as others have said, it would be great to see someone, anyone break into the top spots.
