  1. Forster is a good keeper. His indecision however is an apparent weakness and cost us both goals last night. I couldn't help think about Peter Schmeichel last night and how he used to charge off of his line and scare the cr@p out of forwards, even if he was second favourite for the ball. Fraser is a massive guy. He needs to make the most of it.
  2. It occurred to me last night that Chelsea or City might consider loaning us players in January to try and stop one of their bigger rivals getting Champions League. Kinda makes sense.
  3. I agree with all that. A win at Burnley should see us back in the top four. Everton and Palace are tough but winnable games. Our team may currently be the most depleted it will be this season. Morgan and Toby aren't far from coming back - last night we would have won with them in. I think Chelsea and Man City are by far the best top 2 sides. Beneath them United, Arsenal, West Ham, ourselves and Newcastle are all in with a shout of top four. I think West Ham have a great chance of sealing a top 4 spot - they have three good goal scoring forwards (we have just one until J Rod gets back). Arsenal are too inconsistent and the crowd are really on Wenger's back and I think he'll be sacked at the end of the season. United's defence was the worst I've seen since Sunderland and LVG's insistence on playing 3 at the back with Young and Valencia as wing backs is stubborn rubbish. Newcastle on their day are decent (see Chelsea win) but will fade. We can make the top four but it will depend on how fit we can keep our starting eleven and how well we strengthen in January. The bench last night was absolutely threadbare and Tadic and Long were both clearly carrying knocks from the Arsenal match and so never going to last the full 90. Tadic had a large ice pack thing on his knee as we left last night.
  4. Hey Turkish, what do you think about the female commentator on Match of the Day? You know, the one who commentates in that pitch that women use to tell us off when we walk dirt in the house or leave broken lightbulbs several months.
  5. It won't happen, but just how good do you think our team would be with Bony in it? Pelle's miss last night and his hesitation with Morgan's through ball vs Man City at 0-0 has been painful to watch. He does very little when the other team have the ball too - unlike Lambert who was always willing to press. Not getting on the big guy's back, just wonder how you think we'd be doing with someone like Bony, who is finishing as well as anyone (bar Aguero) at the moment.
  6. I wonder if we'll start with Cork instead of Long tomorrow. Would make perfect sense to me. Morgan, Cork and Wanyama have all shown they are more than capable of taking it in turns to push forward and hold this season. Long off of the bench for me is more effective than him starting.
  7. We can man-mark him, yes. He spends a lot of time in the box. Toby could probably do a decent job on him. I doubt we will man-mark however, because it opens up too much space for others to drive into. Our aim must be to stop the supply into Aguero. Our full-backs will have a tough game tomorrow (but so too will theirs). I hope Yaya has an off day and allows Morgan and Big Vic to dominate. I've not looked forward to a game so much in ages. Win and we must be taken very seriously indeed, lose and lots of us will expect it to be the start of a tumble. Pivotal. COYRAWM
  8. I hate these international breaks. Just hope all our lads make it home without injury. Looking forward to December when the games come thick and fast.
  9. Just look at the table!!!!!! Wow.
  10. He'll be a great addition to this squad. Natural replacement for pelle if he gets injured or banned and can play in either of the mane / tadic wide forward roles.
  11. In the past I would have seen this as a potential banana skin, but under koeman we are absolutely ruthless and effective. Saints to cime out of the teaps fast and win by a two goal margin. Clyne and Bertrand will be able to get forwards a lot. We will also overload the box at times.
  12. Given the way we're playing, we should win it.
  13. Chelsea should win the league by a mile. City next and then Arsenal. At the moment we look good, better than the rest. The other teams should improve considerably between now and May, I think it's just a question of how long we can keep playing as well as we are. We have good squad depth. yes we will have key injuries but so will the other teams. I think we have a great chance of finishing above Spurs, Everton and Liverpool. I can see us finishing 5th, just below Man Utd.
  14. It's a good question. I think the club can progress and we can enjoy ourselves on the self-sustaining model but it does need several ingredients to work. To name a few: first and foremost a very good manager, a great scouting network, pull (that is the ability to attract good players), excellent training facilities and coaches who can improve players and thus increase their value. At the moment we have all of those things and so I feel that we are in good hands for the time being. Arsenal have shown that it can be done. My biggest gripe over the Summer was the way that things were handled. We'd had a very good season, played some good football and looked ready to build on that success. However, the sale of several players took place in a very short space of time with little to no warning. The likes of Morgan also felt unsettled and wanted to move (possibly j-Rod too, although I'm not sure he's ever said that publicly) which pointed to the club either lowering it's ambition or not communicating properly with the players. I was concerned that quality players would not want to join us because we were viewed by the media as a bit of joke and a sinking ship. I wouldn't say I was a bet-wetter and felt that my view was justified by a series of unprofessional incidents that had occurred since Nicola's departure. It may have been unsettling for Koeman too - we don't know. It appears however that the club stopped the rot at just the right time when they put their foot down to Morgan. Morgan's attitude since and the attitude of the other players has been top notch and I'm very proud of them. It could have been very different. If next summer we sell top players for top prices I would be confident that we already have good replacements lined up. I will also be more confident in the knowledge that it forms part of the club's plan and that because we've been through it before it shouldn't come as a surprise to the players, club staff, supporters and player targets. I don't mind the idea of relatively unknown players using us as a springboard to bigger clubs if we get to enjoy them for a year or two and in the knowledge that it's part of a credible plan. Now, unlike Summer, we have an idea what that plan is. Jeff, I have answered your question honestly. I hope your question wasn't a veiled dig at a fellow fan. I am a fan, not a hardcore Saintsweb user. I am enjoying the club's great start to the season as much as anyone and I'm delighted, absolutely bloody chuffed to bits that Pelle has proved me wrong too. I don't think I've seen a player adapt so significantly in such a short space of time as he has. He seems like a smart guy.
  15. Great to see Jaidi still involved.
  16. Sweaty trolling bastard
  17. I would absolutely love to stuff Spurs. I went there during our relegation season when we got thrashed and I will never forget those gloating, scummy b@stards as we headed back. We have a team capable of beating them and some very good players who are bang in form. I think it may come down to who wants it most.
  18. Yes, he has a better end product. Shaw continually frustrated me with his poor deliveries, one-footedness and injuries. We have upgraded and made a serious wedge in doing so. Great bit of business - I have to take my hat off to the club on this one, they were spot on. Everyone talks about Shaw's massive potential and chance to become the best left back in the world. Get real guys. He would need to change his body shape and learn to use his right foot first.
  19. I dont think it's that bad.
  20. Any idea how bad?
  21. What's up with Toby?
  22. I love the headed goal - he looks like a man against Geordie boys. After the Bayer game I felt he would struggle to score 10 this season. I love that he's going to prove me wrong. Very impressed with Koeman.
  23. Very pleasantly surprised. A lot more direction, pace and energy compared to last week. Really looking forward to the season ahead if we can keep that up. Best I've seen the team tackle - I thought our tackling g was a real feature of our game today.

  25. Just remember how long it took for Morgan to develop into a top class central midfielder.
