Yup, not signing Danns in January, for whatever reason, is IMO the reason we will not put together a real push for the playoffs this season.

Shall we just dig up the racist threads from last time rather than go through all that again? LOL. Head like a wotsit, he's got a fukkin head like a wotsit

Disagree. We could hit the woodwork and have balls cleared off the line all day, every day and not win. Goals win games. Our balls into the box lacked quality and we lacked a good first touch all over the park. Also, the tempo we played at allowed a decent Swindon side to organise their defence and midfield in front of us to stifle our play. I was impressed and surprised by Swindon. They played a very good game. They showed skill and purpose and didnt just come for a draw as so many teams do. I also can't fault them for timewasting. OK there was a little bit near the end but Saints would have been much worse. And please don't anyone say their defender who was taken off injured was time wasting - he was clearly in a lot of discomfort and despite his best efforts couldnt carry on, nearly losing his side a goal in the process after he went down a second time. At times last night I thought some of our players looked a little arrogant. With arrogance quite often comes complacency and I think that may have contributed. That and the fact we have no Plan B. BTW, is anyone else less than impressed with last night's Plan A, ie. lump balls from wherever up to the edge of their box and fight for the scraps. Even the warm-up was geared to controlling a bouncing ball on the edge of the box then shooting. Wasn't very pretty and after about 60 minutes you could see it wasn't very effective either. Plan B for the sleeve and quicker tempo please Mr Pardew.

* Female commentators. I don't care if they really know their stuff and I don't give a toss about equal opportunities, it still sounds like I'm being nagged. * Not being able to drink beer in my seat. * Not being allowed to throw wet sponges at bad referees while they are locked in stocks after matches. * The ammateur commentator in the Kingland who has a negative disposition and a monotone voice. Feck me, I had 10 days in counselling after just one half sat in front of him. * Fans that talk about wanting to smash up rival fans but don't actually do it or pick fights with rival fans who don't actually want to fight. * People that spit a lot when they shout. * People that are too posh for football. "I say ref, even I could do a better job than you" and various other polite ditties were heard last night - gosh, the poor ref is probably still having nightmares after such severe castigation.

Agreed. Andy, bite the bullet and get yourself a train ticket mate. We are going to give Swindon a good hiding tomorrow and you know you want to be there to see it. Re your earlier post: £37 quid well spent methinks, especially as you will be able to text your step brothers all the way back on the train.

Hi Andyb1. How do we know that you are not some deranged Pompey fan? I have seen films like this. Admittedly most take place on deserted roads in America but still it makes you think. Worse still you could be the sort of person that has either a really sunny or depressive disposition. It's bad enough being stuck with people like that in the ground let alone for a couple of hours either way in the car. Hope this helps.

+1 Is this crimewatch or a forum for saints fans?

First football dream since 1976?? Pah, call yourself a real fan? ;0) Last night I dreamt about playing for a Saints waifs and strays team against Pompey who still had Defoe, Crouch etc. We battled back well and think ran out convinving winners (5-2 or something). Curiously David Jones (the former finance director, not the former manager) was there offering encouragement.

The ref today cheated. I can forgive a ref who doesnt see everything, we are all human afterall. But he must have seen several blatant fouls against us and handballs by Leeds yet chose to stick two fingers up to the crowd by giving decisions Leeds' way. He wanted to show the crowd who was boss. I hope he gets severely reprimanded. Most inconsistent and just plain curious ref performance I can remember seeing. Cheat.

This is the first warning bell I have heard coming from the new management team. Something like this has to be approached with real caution and a whole number of questions have to be answered such as what would happen if Marcus died mi-move. There are some obvious risks to our club with ambition, as well as the obvious excitement. I just hope we don't lose sight of the fundamentals in the way Poopey have.

Are you sure you're in London? Really? This post sounds a bit like GM's Last of the Summer Wine analogy, which surely only applies to ex-pats.

Even if the OP had been about 16 1/2 stone body building solicitors from North Baddesley I wouldn't have bitten! I don't need to justify the way I choose to support saints nor the way I post about them on an open website. I think the OP says as much about the way GM reads posts on here as it does about the posts themselves. I choose to gloss over and/or not get wound up by the cr@p posts, except the ones where there is genuine decent debate about football.
-
Why do you and others keep biting. Imagine the impact if absolutely nobody responded to this thread. Instead you have all played precisely into GM's hands and now this post looks like you are really wound up. Chill out mate and ignore this thread, eh. Support the Saints however you want to and don't let anyone tell you how you should or shouldn't support them and yes, that includes the way in which you post on here.
-
GM, I would be interested to hear your take on categorising posters on this site who do go to games yet appear to know hardly anything about football or the games they have just seen. IMO there are a lot of poor, misleading and curious posts on here regardless of their origin.

Agreed. What's more he has just bought a house in the best village in the South.

Good lad. I like this.

I said this on another thread a while back. The pithces at Staplewood are beautiful and of a similar quality to SMS. I think they need a boggy pitch there to play on in the build up to games like Wycombe. It sounds silly and I can't beleive I am saying this but feel this is the best option in view of some of our away performaces on cruddy pitches.

I tried but it's more sensible and controlled here - that thread is a complete mess!!! BTW have they got the record for longest thread yet? Seems that's what they're most interested in. The few good posts are hidden amongst all the trash. -
Hmmm, you might be underestimating the club's current financial clout. There ain't too many clubs in the CCC with money and facilities that match ours and I think our players, except for Lallana, are not Prem quality. I personally have no doubt that the players AP wants to keep will stay next year.
-
The team were an absolute shambles when AP took over. His signings have been very good IMO but there are a couple of areas he still needs to get to grips with - central midfield in particular. I also think we need to turn one of the carpet like pirches at Staplewood into a ploughed field so that the players are not always training on 'carpets'. There's no doubt about it, we do need to learn to win games on ploughed fields as well as the bowling greens. Personally I give AP 7/10 so far, based on the fact that we really were bad when he took charge. I would certainly give him the whole of the summer and then until Christmas to show good league form.

That's not true. I know for a first hand fact that HMRC recently took substantially less than 100% as part of an arrangement to exit admin. They did however insist on having parity with the football creditors, which was a firming of their previous stance. This was a smallish club however and I have a sneaky feeling that HMRC may want to make an example of Poopey to prevent this sort of thing happening in future. HMRC are unlikely to be prepared to keep accepting 20p odd in the pound and might feel the need to take a stand. What's more, I suspect HMRC will be annoyed at Poopey's conduct throughout this whole debacle. HMRC might just be prepared to take nothing this time in return for making the ultimate example of them. -
I have enjoyed this season for all of the reasons in the OP, and for the fact that I feel we have our club back in safe hands. It really does make a difference when the future looks bright.

A few points: 1. Pompey will need 75% of creditors by value to agree to any arrangement to exit administration. I don't know what their total creditors are worth but I wonder whether HMRC will have the 25% needed to effectively block such an arrangement?? I don't think HMRC will be happy to kkep taking pence in the pound from football clubs in admin and they might just want to make an example of the skates. If no arrangement is agreed they would probably be wound up in the absence of a buyer willing to pay all creditors in full. 2. Looks like Chanrai will pay the administrators costs rather than the club itself. I wonder how long that will last, especially when potential investors see just how unviable Pompey are. 3. The Skates have to exit admin by the second Sat of May otherwise they face the potential of not being allowed to join the CCC. In reality they are likely to be allowed membership to the CCC in return for a points deduction. It really is a greay area how the points deduction this year under PL rules will work with the FL rules re insolvency. 4. I just wonder what the Administrator will uncover in terms of the dodgy dealing it is speculated has taken place. I'm sure the forensics will have a field day going through all the off shore accounts etc. Financial irregularity could lead to massive points deductions, as per Luton. 5. I understand that Barclays will have final say over who is appointed as administrator. I think this is very important, especially in light of point 4 above. 6. Unless Chanrai is prepared to pay administrator's fees and the clubs running costs until they find a buyer I can see the administrator really hacking the club up and leaving it with nothing but the bare fish bones. 7. We are in for months of fun and games at the expense of our fishy friends.
