  1. Probably more evidence, if any were needed, that we are not paying silly money for wages.
  2. AP said several times that Barnard was cover for Lambert who is a big man and desperately in need of a rest. Why can't people accept that instead of conjuring up various conspiracy theories? Barnard and Lambo are our only two players capable of holding the line and holding the ball up to compliment the way our team is currently set up to play. Before Barnard we were relying solely on Lambo staying fit. Papa, Connolly and Lallana are all very good forwards IMO but are not the type of player to hold the line.
  3. Given the income (ticket sales, merchandise, television money, food & drink etc) from our cup runs on top of average attendances around the 20k mark I reckon he is not having to subsidise very much. Bear in mind that most cup matches have been played at SMS. I also think the club have bought cautiously and have turned down players who have asked for wages seriously over the odds. Cortesse doesn't seem like a man who will be held over a barrel by players or their agents. Pure speculation but could this be why we got Seabourn and not Ward or Puncheon instead of Stock or Danns? Lambert is our talisman and is only looking for a house worth £400k in the Romsey area - doesn't seem to indicate Markus spunking it all up the wall.
  4. I also believe they will be in admin when we play them. I also think they will beat us. One things is 100% certain however - they will not be 'bankrupt' as someone above says. Insolvent, certainly, wound-up shortly after possibly but not 'bankrupt'.
  5. Without the opportunity to sell players the administrator would presumably have little choice but to try and balance the books, which would probably mean releasing players and loaning out to reduce the wage bill in the vain hope of finding a buyer. As you suggest, if an administrator feels the situation is so bad that winding up is the best way to secure a return to creditors then that might just happen. I wonder how confident any administrator will be in terms of finding a buyer. My gut feeling is they will struggle to find anyone but perhaps the arabs are waiting in the wings for admin when they can pay pence in the pound rather than full value. That would not get around the problem with secured creditors though - unlike St Mary's, Fratton is worth something because of its redevelopment value. As I have been saying, I think the property will play a big part in what happens over the next few months.
  6. As you and I both know CS, that means paying HMRC before the deadline and hope you can spin some sort of believable sh!t that the players will believe. Paying HMRC is infinitely more important to Pompey. But what of the other creditors that joined the winding up order and Gaydamak who apparently has a right to void the sale deal if the payments were not forthcoming, whcih again apparently they were not. What a bloody mess. lol I can't see the players deserting, despite their predicament. Would be good mind you! PS I work in Pompey and do quite a lot in the community - they are deserting in their droves. I have rephrased their FA Cup song about being there when Sol when up to lift the FA Cup....lol.
  7. Looked good today based on the two goals shown on BBC - they say he's unlikley to last beyond the end of JAn
  8. Yes, this is right. In terms of "exacting revenge" - they will only do this if they have suffeered some sort of loss as a result of your breach of contract - seems unlikely. Therefore, even if you do have a restriction of this type in your contract which would be common, the consequences of your breach are not worth your current employer getting bothered about.
  9. I reckon if you got to the ground early enough you would make SSN and a few papers. I would PMSL. Genius idea.
  10. Out on loan maybe but he's well thought of at the club. He's tall and naturally left footed - two traits that AP looks for.
  11. That's really interesting and has ressonance with a few things I have heard. Without doubt the 'property' of PFC will play a very important role in their future.
  12. No, I don't thank you. I qualified any statement not fact by IMO. There was a lot of speculation etc on here based on lack of understanding of corporate and insolvency laws and the way in which acquisitions work. For example, the OP is about Pompey being wound up before we play them - that simply will not happen. There were further confusions over their right to loan players. Make of my post what you like, I have nothing to prove to you or anyone on here - just trying to enlighten you.
  13. A FEW FACTS FOR THOSE WHO REALLY GIVE A SH!T: . 1. The FA recently withheld their TV money, I suspect along with FA Cup prize money. This was then applied by the FA to English football creditors. Once paid, the club pressed ahead with legal action to get their incoming transfer embargo lifted. The embargo was lifted very quickly because all English football creditors were paid and therefore there was no lawful reason to keep the embargo in place. . 2. PFC will now work like mad to get in as many frees and loans as possible before they go into admin (see below). Players will be attracted by the idea of putting themselves in the shop window despite the very real prospect that they will not get fully paid. Quincy being a prime example. . 3. PFC will go into admin days or even hours before the winding up petition is due to be heard in court (which so happens to be before our game). . 4. PFC will have an uphill struggle to find anyone stupid enough to buy the club from administration unless 75% of the creditors in value (of whcih I assume HMRC, Gaydamak and Sol Campbell will be among the largest) will do a fantastic deal and agree to take a very low offer. Bear in mind the alternative will be wind the club up and take next to nothing if anything (I assume the ground is heavily charged to the bank and other fixed creditors). This is why the Arabs have not yet invested money - why pay all the debts when you could end up needing just to pay a small percentage of them?? . 5. Pompey are playing for time. They are hoping to string a few wins together which will give the Arabs enough confidence to invest before admin. Fat chance. . 6. Pompey will IMO be relegated this year and will be in administration. I think they will only be saved from extinction if they can reach a very good deal with creditors. . 7. IMO Pompey will beat us, with the players they currently have and the loan signings. I fecking hope I'm wrong about this.
  14. Pardew tends to prefer Papa when we play the 4-5-1/4-3-3 variations rather than in the 4-4-2 where he prefers Antonio.
  15. We need a central midfield pairing that can dominate. James and Hammond do well but we still need one or two more and get rid of Wotton before we have enough strength and ability in depth.
  16. Gettin Lloydie!!!! Prove me right mate. COYRAWM
  17. I will be taking loads of Monopoly money to wave at them and throw in the air each time we score.
  18. Bummer. The one team I didnt want to draw. At least it's at home and at least we will have a chance to rotate the team a bit before then to be fresh. With a bit of luck HMRC will wind them up before the 14th and we'll get a walkover.
  19. Oh dear, yet another fan on here that does not understand the role of a forward player. LOL. Lambo was terrific today - he held the ball very well, won most things in the air, drew defenders in and created chances for others. His shot let to the winning goal and was very unlucky not to get a spectacular third goal for us from about 40 yards out that would have sealed it. Barnard has a good first touch, never gave the ball away, looked good in tight situations and was always looking to get strikes on goal. Did well for the team when switched to an unfamiliar right midfield role in the second half. Showed glipses of pace. Looks like he can lead the line in a way Connoly, Papa and Lallana can't which is exactlywhat we need when Pardew gives Lambo the rest he has been saying the big guy needs. There we go, a more considered view from a fellow strikers perspective.
  20. Quality player, been saying for a long time on here that he should have been in the team. I can only imagine that Pardew was holding off until he was fully fit. We look a different team with Holmes on the left. His passion, committment, work rate and technique are first rate for this level.
  21. IMO James will make one of the top three CM roles his own now that we have a right back and Hammond is out injured. I would still like to see us get another top CM player in and get rid of Wotton, but I reckon James will take his opportunity with both hands.
  22. All I got was some ******* video of hummingbirds. Gravesend you suck.
  23. Totally agree - bet it was him by a mile. It really was a desperate appointment - the last roll of the dice by a desperate Chairman who realised he had (A) appointed the wrong people previously and (B) neglected the first team in favour of the youth team farming enterprise
  24. What a place to get separated!
  25. Bale was a very classy free kick taker. I recall seeing him up close several times for the U.18's and he always got such curle on the ball. Lambo combines great power with precision and some curle - a mix that is absolutely deadly at this level. We have had some very good free-kick takers over the years.
